Chelsea kid Sam Hutchinson forced to quit football due to long-term knee injury

wouldn't be surprised if it was Osgood-Schlatter disease, i suffered from this. also resulting to giving up football

Who knows, later down the line he might earn himself a full England kneecap.

Osgood was good for Chelsea. Never heard of Schlatter though.

Any relation to Ian Hutchinson?

You havent ?

Sepp Blatter was really drunk one night - and when trying to introduce himself to a girl with a bit too little clothes on - he introduced himself as Scccchlatter - I mean Schepp Blatter

I watched Chelsea TV when we played them in the FA Youth Cup and he was the expert. Seemed like a nice lad actually - and was in a good mood even when speaking about the knee injury and the retirement.

Good news for him this !

You'd imagine so, and at last check Chelsea had a few places in their squad for some home-grown players. But can he be added at any time, or did they have to wait until January?

Either way it's not a regular story, although a more common one would be 2 or more young players (but over 21 years old) waiting for their opportunity, or recovering from injuries or whatever, and the club has to pick one but it is the other that ends up over the next months to show he is the better player.

Edit - Damn you Makki, I'm not talking to myself.

Damn, you were quick. I deleted my post due to realising that he was too old to be automatically included in the squad without having to take up one of the 25 places, which made my question redundant.

Think you can include players in the squad when the transfer window is open. A final list has to be submitted by the end of each transfer window.

Either way, Chelsea will have at least two spots open in January if they don't buy anyone. Can't see Alex and Anelka being registered for the remainder of the season, even if they aren't sold.
