This is crazy by the owners surely? I can only assume there’s some huge issues behind the scenes. Tuchel hasn’t looked happy all summer and his pre season interviews and the one from last night were quite concerning.
What I don’t understand now is they’ve literally spent a fortune buying players for Tuchel and his system, including a late deal to reunite him with Aubamayang, now this? Utterly bizarre. There seems no plan or strategy behind the scenes?
There’s been talk of extending Tuchel and that Boehly likes stability for a while and now this early on.

I think their current set up isn't really suitable to play a 433 so would be bizarre if they pivoted to doing so after the summer they had, definitely gonna be difficult period for them.
I think they're gonna get Potter and I rate him, let's see how he ends up doing.

Basically boehly group trust tuchel to build first team in his own image and allowed 2/3 rd of half a billion to bring in his own players.Even without second thoughts they binned Lukaku away from chelsea. I am not sure it's not trust what else.
At chelsea under Roman only Jose mk1 had that trust. Now tuchel got it from boehly group. Will see how things shape up once window closed.Let's get behind Deutsche maestro.
Maybe you bought into the mythology about the Boehly group a bit too much? Trust and patience…
Chelsea only lost once against Fulham in all competitions since 1979 and after Tuchel got the sack it seems like that record will go on. New manager bounce and all that.
After the games we have had, Boehly would have needed the patience of Job to keep Tuchel. Our football had become painful to watch.

Potter may see Chelsea as his next stepping stone.
The issue is he may look at what happened to club legend Lampard and how he was treated and consider if it’s the right fit for him. If he doesn’t do well he won’t get a big job next and he’ll be jettisoned for a while.

Youd think so, but i dont think this is a case of "will this opportunity come around again?", because he will for sure manage one of the top 6 in EPL.
When i seen he was meeting Boehly in London this afternoon i was sure it was a done deal, but he also doesn't strike me as the type to just jump ship unless he is 100% sure its the right move. I dont believe he is money motivated either, like some of the top coaches.

Duffer is a pragmatic fan, he will (always) put trophies before entertainment. Just ask United fans: for all the revolution and the ten years wait of a new Ferguson, 4 wins in a row playing counter attacking football are enough to unite all them behind the new Hansi Flick.

Nah, really: I was just suggesting that Chelsea fans are so used to be pragmatic and get trophies, that Potter will have no grace time at all without immediate results imho… a bit like Sarri, me thinks.
Its a really hard gig for Potter to walk into but you have to take your chances when they arrive.
Beyond all the obvious points about Chelsea being a much different proposition than Brighton, he has always worked within a very strong structure and had a lot of support from a DoF and at Chelsea there literally aren't any other footballing people. The crazy fixture schedule always makes it very very difficult for any new manager. You really have almost no time to train your team when you are playing twice a week for ten weeks in a row. Almost every day you are either playing a match, recovering physically from a match, traveling to the next match, or preparing/discussing the tactical plan for the next match.

Was more to do with thinking United are playing counter attacking football than anything else.
Utd fans are behind Ten Hag because he’s a tactically astute manager who can build something great there.
He’s walked in and bossed the dressing room, bossed the Ronaldo situation, bossed the Maguire situation, beaten the dippers and then ended Arsenal’s unbeaten run.
He’s a fecking geezer and it’s clear to anyone that he’s the most exciting Utd manager since SAF retired.
Are Chelsea not going to run any kind of process or interview other candidates? Just give Potter what he wants and the job?

I knew it was coming, just not this early. I for one I'm glad the new owners are as proactive as Roman when it comes to maintaining standards and expectations at the club. Thank you Tuchel for the CL but if it's really Potter then I'm excited to see what he can do with the talented squad that we have. Love his work at Brighton, exciting young players busting a gut to play for him.
We’ll to be fair, Boehly KNOWS he needs a DoF. They already set a hire deadline of before the winter window. You can’t really blame someone who said they would have preferred to have a DoF in place for not being good at being a DoF.

I think the primary reason for the delay, aside from his to favorite candidates not being available yet in the start of Summer, was Tuchel.
I think people told him “the team has gone through a lot, you can’t just come on and fire the guy that won the CL and still got us 4th last year”.
But he only kept Marina on long enough for transition continuity. Now the head of scouting that everyone apparently hated … gone. Slowly but surely he’s been making his way through the building.
Here, in the U.S., you don’t generally hire a new coach without the input of your GM (DoF).
We also need to keep in mind the task in front of him when he bought Chelsea. The previous regime was very uninspiring in the way they handled the new loan limit rules. We still had a TON of “protecting value” dead wood on our roster, taking up spots that need to be used as a transition step for our more promising academy kids. There needed to be a tiered system and a better plan in place, and he is building towards that.
Boehly gave Tuchel a LOT of input this window. Tuchel was the one publicly saying we had no need for midfielders. He was the one who pushed Gilmour out the door despite objections, and that is the reason we were left scrambling there.
Even then, Tuchel has talent enough at his disposal to be doing better than this.

Kind of sad seeing the majority of our resident Chelsea fans slagging off Tuchel now he’s gone and kissing up to Boehly.

Tuchel should have been treated better for what happened. He deserves much better then how he was treated. Reports are that Tuchel did not expect to be sacked this morning. However, our past results and lack of solutions were very worrying. This form isnt new, it started since mid april of last season. Nothing seemed to be working for Tuchel, so I had the worry he was going to be sacked in the back of my head. Brutal sacking all around.

He's someone you have to build properly with though, and possibly show some faith in as he builds his football. He's not an Ancelotti to parachute in and expect to nick a big cup, this will be his first time working with this profile of club and player.
