I guess in theory it‘s awesome that Harry is still available as a lever re leicester and Fofana - and although all he has to do is literally sitting on a bench he yet seems to be even bad at that.

Doubt we‘d sign anybody that wouldn‘t fit into a back 4 as well.

Just to remind the Chelsea fans that Harry is available and is great when played with 3 CB just ask anyone watching England. Just give Southgate a call and he will verify his class. Also you could've gotten Shaw for only half the price of sideshow Bob v2.0.

We would never try to take your captain away.

We already have lots of duds mate. No need to add your duds as well. We will enjoy your captain fantastic in your shirt.

Chelsea cafites….what do you think of the Gordon links? Is he the answer? And who does he displace in the team?

Not quite convinced by him but can kind of see why he's being targeted. As a player type he's likely to be someone who would fit Tuchel's system quite well due to his pace and stamina levels, and he does have some attributes that could potentially make him a top player in the future if he can get more productive in the final third but at least for now his end product seems terrible and I don't see that magically changing overnight.

I don't think he displaces anybody in the team as far as being a regular starter goes. I don't see him getting picked ahead of Sterling or Mount in the attacking positions behind the striker so he'd probably compete with the likes of Pulisic and maybe Havertz for game time. While neither of them have been playing particularly well I don't see Gordon coming out on top against either of them as the first rotational picks in the front three. It has been suggested Gordon could also be an option to play the RWB role so depending on how he'd do there he could eventually displace Loftus-Cheek to become the number one backup for James but even then his game time would probably be quite limited because James will start whenever he's fit. RLC has started the last two games at wing-back when James has played RCB but when a new starting CB is signed that will soon change and James will play almost all his games at RWB.

I don't really get this potential signing. For £60M you'd expect to sign a starting quality player or at the very least someone who's a ready-made rotational option and not a developing youngster who needs lots of game time to improve. I'm very much hoping to be proven wrong if he does sign but for now I think the money would be better off being spent elsewhere or even saved up for the coming windows if there aren't any good alternatives out there.

Not a Chelsea fan but I think its insane. Surely they have loads of players already that are far superior to Gordon. I have never been that impressed by him, and he is even worse than Bruno at diving.

So… he could be a very important player, but very expensive co side ring that importance, to me, comes at being able to give games off to James in a super congested schedule. Not running James (maybe our best player) to ground and injury is huge, but there would seem to be less expensive ways of approaching that?

I don’t see him as a front attacking option that can fix our issues there. Maybe I’m wrong. Laeo would have been my first choice at the start of the window. Neto would have been my choice when he was offered if Laeo looked unlikely (which he still does).

So, the ability to play wingback, which we need. 60 million? As long as that money doesn’t keep us from other purchases, fine.

But I keep hearing big things about Omari Hutchinson, and he looks like he can play on the right wing … and it’s not like he has a ton less experience … so why not work him in?

Maybe he will be great. But I keep coming back to the fact that I watched every agonizing moment of our Everton match and didn’t remember him at all.

I guess we will see.

Thank you. I can’t see the logic in it either, I’m not sure what he does better than Mount and 60M is too much for a backup.

Sterling aside, Chelsea have had a weird window. Chasing targets they don’t need and not addressing the areas that need work

good points
You don't think Koulibaly was addressing an area we needed?
I’d forgotten him actually….probably because he was so awful at the weekend :) How would you rate your window?

I think all three signings were good. Cucarella gives us another option on the left and as part a back three, where he played many times for Brighton. Koulibaly is pretty much a Rudiger replacement and Sterling is Sterling.

Getting Lukaku out of the squad was a good move.

If we don't sign anyone else I'd say 6/10.

Ok. Does it go up or down if you sign Gordon (assume c.60M)?

@duffer can answer for himself but I'll have a go.

Ratings on a scale of 1-10.

Sterling 8 - bags of ability, has good enough pace and dribbling to beat his man in a 1v1 and has proven himself in the PL for almost a decade. About as shite at finishing as the rest of our lot but if he can at least get himself into goalscoring positions more often the end result will be a net positive. Cautiously optimistic about him but the jury is still out.

Cucurella 6 - as a player I rate him and think he's at the very least a big improvement over Alonso but obviously the cost was as obvious an overpayment as there has been. At an age where he can still improve a little bit and even at his current level is good enough to contribute. Remains to be seen whether he can displace Chilwell long-term or if he'll fall to a rotational role once Chilly is fully fit and settled back into the side.

Koulibaly 7 - would ideally have preferred someone younger but Koulibaly should be a good signing for a few years. Not sure where he compares to Rüdiger, probably not an improvement but maybe not a big downgrade either? Has had two good games and one horrible performance so guess we'll have to see for a while longer before making any further judgement.

Getting rid of Lukaku, Werner, Alonso and Christensen was good IMO. Still unclear how Lukaku and Christensen will be replaced so there's still a lot of uncertainty around. Aubameyang and Fofana seem to be most heavily linked but not done deals so won't comment further.

At the moment I'd say we're at around 6/10 overall. Fofana and Aubameyang would probably raise that to a solid 7, not great but not terrible either. Should be enough to get top-4 and have a good go at the cups. If the midfield were addressed with a top signing as well I'd raise the grade to an 8.

A lot of our window, for me, will depend on wether we lose Chalobah or not. If we get Fofana and keep Chalobah I will be happy.

Official Emerson to West ham deal done. Thank you West ham for take him away from us.

An expensive excuse to cover for the fact that we have a totally inept manager when it comes to building an attacking coherence and all the top attacking talents we have are bailing or trying to for their careers.... Werner, Pulisic, CHO, Ziyech. Antony Gordon has never been better than any of these ever in his career. Tuchel is more interested in making our defence look good at the expense of our attackers and they've had enough. If he doesn't change soon enough and gain some balls to change his system Sterling will look no different to Werner (actually the signs have been there in our last 3 matches...missing good chances? Check.....losing the ball easily? Check...Offside when he actually scores? Check)

Im curious what the resident Blues think about Ruben Loftus-Cheek? Is he still struggling to find the best position? Surely he's not a long-term option at right wingback.

I'd take him along with Pulisic, if transfers could work like that.

Problem with this boy is that he takes forever to get into form and when he finds it he gets injured. Injury leaves him set back a long time and then the process repeats.

He has ability, strength and he is by no means slow for a CM as his form under Sarri showed but he seems to have lost his confidence in himself and his body. He was injury prone in the youth team but they put that down to his physique as a young man. It’s carried over into first team football and therefore doesn’t always get stuck into a game as he needs to be.

Honestly he should move on to another team. Maybe giving him more responsibility might give him his confidence back. He was linked to Sarri again a few months ago. But Tuchel also likes him and wanted him for Dortmund so unless something drastically changes he will be taking up a squad place again for this coming season. Right now his versatility is the only thing he has of worth but that can only take you so far when your aim is to win things.

They need to stop building the side around Mount, he’s good but he’s not that good.

Looks like if Chelsea don’t break the record for Fofana they will turn to Harry Maguire

That article from Kinsella is full of “might” “may” “could”. Complete clickbait. I hate it for him but since Chelsea was bought, Kinsella does not seem to have any sources in the club. Begs the question who was feeding him info before?

Sleeping with Marina? Sweet nothings to Cech in the tunnel?

Toddy needs to go large on young Wesley in that case…

He will I think, but on the off chance he doesn’t, we have been linked Brighton’s Webster too, which would make him something like the 10th choice CB target this summer, at which point you have wonder if it’s better to just go with what we have and try again in the next window. As much you lot want it to happen, Maguire screams agent leak rather than actual interest.

Joking aside it does make you wonder what the issue in playing Colwill was?

Other than wanting him to have a PL loan to further cement himself and gain experience, I don’t know either. I can accept the argument that it was best for him to go on loan again but yeah, it’s a annoying one to think about.

I’d also much rather spend big to bring Guehi back than a lot of the options we have been linked with this summer.

Could have done with Eriksen and Casemiro. That would have solved so many of our problems.

Guehi isn’t a bad shout. He’d want to play though with the WC coming. Do you have a buy back on the bugger?
