I hope we don't spend anything like that unless it's on absolute top class players and we absolutely have to. It's madness.
We just paid £27.5m for Fellaini. I'd be absolutely fine paying £50m for a player of Higuain's calibre.

I'd expect Telegraph to do better than that.
When you make up a story, at least make it more believable.

50 mil? I'm sure Eddie tired to find a comma between 5 and 0 when he first read it.
Disagree. We just paid £27.5m for Fellaini. I'd be absolutely fine paying £50m for a player of Higuain's calibre.
To be fair, they are apparently trying to sell before they buy. The likes of De Bruyne, Mata and Ba all look like they could leave for decent money.
Big chunk of that will have to be Mata and de Bruyne.
Crazy money, but it shows Chelsea are more ruthless than us when it comes to fixing their problems. They go straight in with £50m on a player who is a proven goalscorer and would hopefully continue that for them. Sure, it didn't work out with Torres, but I think we have to realise now that he doesn't suit Chelsea's style of play.
They are ruthless because they have practically an unlimited supply of funds to dip into. We obviously don't.
I doubt it's true. Naopli would be dumb to reject that kind of money
Disagree.
Fellaini for 27 million was a bad signing. But 50 million is far too much for higuin too. He's not that good. For 50 million you should be getting a suarez or bale.
They would. But I was saying what I would value them if I was a buyer.Agree with the first part. But Bale/Suarez cost 80-100m, not 50m. It's sad, but that's the way how it is.
Didn't Mourinho said a few days ago that he won't bid for Higuain because he knows that Napoli will reject the bid?
If this is true, then it is really strange. First, Higuain isn't worth near that amount, I thought that Napoli overpayed for him. Second, Mourinho doesn't rate him that much as we know from Madrid spell. And third, why Chelsea bid for him if they knew that Napoli will reject which was a given.
Would they sell De Bruyne? I've not been following Chelsea much this season, but I thought De Bruyne was really highly rated?
Hasn't played in the league since September. Strong rumours that he wants out.
Surely they could get Falcao for slightly more money?
The reason Chelsea didn't buy him during the summer and why he was in and out of the Madrid team is because he's not a top striker. He's a good one and he'd start every week for Chelsea given their problems in that position but I wouldn't be thrilled if United were in for him, for example.
