Champions League Semi Finals (26th Apr - 4th May)

Moments FC have Process FC right where they want them. RM have more than one foot in the final now. If they beat the remaining Process FC in the final, then this season will outdo their banter run in 2018.

''It is not an offence if the ball touches a player's hand/arm: directly from the player's own head or body (including the foot)''. Thats from the new handball rules from 2019, so how did Real get a penalty? Normally when we are mad about calls it's atleast subjective, this looks like the ref went against the rulebook or am I missing something?
Maybe it's a pl thing ? I was surpised too.

A free kick or penalty will be awarded if:

  • the ball goes into the goal after touching an attacker's hand or arm.
  • a player wins ball possession after it comes off their hand or arm and then scores, or creates a goalscoring chance.
  • the ball touches a player's hand/arm which has made their silhouette unnaturally bigger.
  • the ball touches a player's hand/arm when it's raised above their shoulder.
There will be no penalty if:

  • the ball touches a player's hand/arm immediately from their own head/body/foot or the head/body/foot of another player.
  • the ball touches a player's hand/arm close to their body and has not made their silhouette unnaturally bigger.
  • a player is falling and the ball touches their hand/arm when it is between their body and the ground (but not extended to make the body bigger).
  • additionally, should the goalkeeper attempt to clear a ball from a teammate but fails, the goalkeeper is allowed to handle the ball.

It's basically the bolded ones in the pro-pen column taking precedence. Arm above the shoulder is rarely considered a natural position so it doesn't classify as a ricochet.

Do you think the game tomorrow can be anywhere near as exciting as the one today?

I feel Villarreal will put out their best Atletico performance and Liverpool will struggle to create chances.

It's part of the appeal that those matches are rare and something special.

When I was 16 I thought having a good steak and sex every single day would be heaven, but it turned out even the best things in life aren't as exciting as they used to be when they were something rare and special.
75 years old, and Perez is yet to figure this out.

Of course, just like every other 16 year old on the internet ;)

For real: I lived on a low-carb diet for several months and sometimes ate steak and salad/vegetables for weeks straight. At some point you would trade (part of) the meat for some fries or something without thinking.
Every man to his own but I don't mind over dosing on meat, even if it's not too good for your health.

But yeah your pretty much right, too much of a good thing can ruin it.(like winning the league every godamn year)

That side of the draw has been boring as feck.

Not that I can see. I think it will be either Villareal getting hammered or Villareal getting success with their scrappy game.

Couldn’t watch the game, was this great attacking or just poor defending on both sides?

And how was the Boro penalty that knocked us out the FA Cup not one but this and Alonso’s were?

Brilliant game of football. 100% a better result for Real, City missed so many chances and Real just kept finding a goal when they needed it.

Looking forward to the second leg and let's hope for more City heartbreak in the CL.

Yep, and they'll either put City to the sword in ET or win it on pens.
You still reeling from a what happened a month ago :D

Jokes aside surely their luck will run out at some point.
Even a cat would be out of lives by now.

Indeed. I'm really warming up to the discussions and ideas of play-offs to decide the Bundesliga champion.

But why even have a league at that point, also its not like bayern don't whip dourtmound every other day, I think they haven't beaten you lot since 10 years ago (that 5_2 final?).

I've been burnt by their never say die BS. It's infuriatingly awesome to watch. This team does not know the word quit. They'll keep coming and coming and just when you think you're winning comfortably, they'll hit you with a sucker punch. Did it v PSG, Chelsea and again tonight.

Yeah.... their attitude in cl has been great to watch even though I think they got the better of most ref calls due to reasons.... like their compatriots their attitude is exemplary.
10 semi finals in 12 yeas is simply bonkers and may not be repeated any time soon , in fact out of the 4 times they won it recently I think they were the best team in Europe only once (2017).
This is their competition , no matter how shit they may be in the league.

They've did it before, also Chelsea did it and so did barca.
They're home invincibility myth is kinda gone to be honest, not helped by the fact that most fans present are tourists who don't give a shit.
Not in europe. Ask PSG. Or Chelsea
Seriously don't know what the feck they do. They are mentality monsters.
At this point i believe this to be a sort of darwinian selection. We're such an insane asylum, the only way you can survive at real madrid is by genuinely believing yourself to be an actual God. And Gods don't die :D

Both, more of the latter but 4 of those goals were also absolutely brilliant

Man City mercenaries play with enough passion. Why can't our mercenaries at least display the same?

Out of curiosity, who was in your opinion the best team in 2014?

I thought the atmosphere was pretty luckwarm in the Chelsea game.
Wasn't there a point where the stadium just gone silent after the realization hit that you might not pull through?

You couldn't even win the league that year, that automatically disqualifies you lot.
Over all juve were insane in their league but shit in Europe, I say bayern were better had it not been for the total meltdown pep had in the semi final.

We were. Duh.

Nah, not really. That stretch was down to shock and didn't last that long. Soon as we got back into it atmosphere was cracking again

We didn't win the league in part due to injuries/fatigue and in part because our heads were entirely on the CL

I think Madrid's experience might see them nick it. The scrapping of the away goals rule has been great but it would have been a much better result for Madrid last season. City still have the advantage

So hard to call that one. Madrid would've been fine with a one goal loss before kick off and they kind of got away with it a bit. City looked much the better side over the 90 minutes.

No. I am asking about Champions League alone. If we are to compare league performances also, let's do it in world of fantasy where every league has Barcelona and Atleti in it.

I say bayern were better had it not been for the total meltdown pep had in the semi final.

I have no further questions for this witness, Your Honor :D

What are you smoking? Bayern got annihilated in 2014 by Madrid.

Madrid knocked Bayern out again in 2017.

And again in 2018.

Not sure if posted but Pep knew that second Madrid goal was in before the ball was even in the City box.

Pogba would fit better a team like PSG and don't want to see him on a Real Madrid shirt. :nono:
True but Madrid are crying out for someone like pogba, there midfield is getting on a bit. If they get pogba and the guy from Monaco then that could be some midfield that.
