Champions League - Round of 16 - 2nd Legs 5/6/12/13 March

What kind of inhuman monster doesn't want to see opposition fans suffer? :nervous: Why are you even a football fan :D

It was meant to be a joke. Sorry, i'm german, i'm not good at this ;)

Ah, to once give Madrid the Barca treatment... I have zero trust that this could be pulled off currently, so let City sort them out.

We are German. We enjoy hatred, misery and toxicity. Take it as a compliment you insufferable **** ;)

RM beat them comfortably in years when they were having issues (20/21, 22/23). In the 2022 final RM had trouble keeping them at bay and in 2018 they were not the finished article and lost from a legendarily terrible GK performance and a wonder goal that came out of nowhere.

Also @giorno

That is a lot of excuses for so many games. Could make up countless excuses for us as well. Fact remains that Klopp never beat us with Liverpool for like 6 games.

It's more about the steady drain of players from those leagues, it's not really to do with any managers. City will be uber rich and spend big with or without Pep, Pool, Arsenal ,United, Chelsea, Spurs, Villa to be honest most PL teams are very rich and spend big comparatively to most teams in Europe now. Sure the CL is a knock out and there are still a couple of stronger teams in Europe who can beat the PL teams but it's getting more and more uncompetitive my opinion.

Also not sure re ''relevance" in the CL comment. SA= Serie A, LP = Liga Portugal, L1 = Ligue 1, DL = Dutch
22/23. QF's. 3SA, 2PL, 1LL, 1BL, 1LP. (PL winner)
21/22. QF's. 3PL, 3LL, 1BL, 1LP (LL winner)
20/21. QF's. 3PL, 2BL, 1LL, 1 LP, 1L1 (PL winner)
19/20. QF's. 2BL, 2LL, 2L1, 1SA, 1PL (BL winner)
18/19. QF's. 4PL, 1LL, 1LP, 1DL, 1SA (PL winner)

So 3/5 CL's have been won by a PL team.
And QF appearances PL is top with 13, La Liga 8, Bundesliga 6, Serie A 5, Liga Portugal 4, Ligue 1 3, Dutch 1

That is fair, maybe I’m looking at it too much from a RM fan POV and the main threat is/was City under Guardiola (and maybe Chelsea under Tuchel).

Looking into the future I think for us City will remain the main threat and favorites, specificially under Guardiola. At this point I feel like we’re favorites against any other PL team.

On the one hand it's about time for another Bayern - Real clash (and i'm hopelessly optimistic after our first good game in months against Lazio), on the other hand we will have even more games to discuss back and forth if there are some wrong or debatable decisions by the ref and the VAR....

What do you think fellow Bayern and Real fans?

That would certainly be a fun match-up. Ideally without any ref/VAR discussions but we all know how that goes. Losing side always ends up bitter.

Bayern-Arsenal would actually also be fun, it has been years since those two played and Arsenal are much stronger now.

As long as we don't go out to the subhumans, the turbocunts, or the Unmentionable(I have hopes two of those might yet go out. The last just ran through a team) I wouldn't particularly care this season honestly. Don't ask why. Even another massacre like last season wouldn't hurt. So long as we don't actual do a barcelona and lose 8-2, now that would be a different story...

Ah, Germany. The birthplace of evil

Look what i just had in my Twitter feed, what a coincidence. On this exact day 17 years ago (damn I'm getting old)

"In der 10. Spielsekunde..." ❤

I want Bayern and I want it to be supersuspicious with criminal refereeing and VAR and the losing side - Bayern's - having the meltdown to end all meltdowns over it. I want it all :drool::drool:
And yes, it will happen exactly like that because, like many times, Perez will hand the referee team some envelopes.

PL is clearly dominant right now, come on. Outside 19/20 with the Covid interruption and restart which created unequal conditions(German and French teams doing really well - the ones who finished the league in June or didn't restart at all. This wasn't chance) since the 17/18 season every CL final has involved at least 1 PL team, with 2 all english finals. Yeah it's mostly the same two teams but so what? That's normal. It's not like during Spain's dominance there were 6 or 7 teams around - it was Madrid and Barcelona. Sometimes Atletico - like Chelsea for the PL

Covid season
Spurs were already knocked out beaten home and away by Leipzig before lockdown
Liverpool was already knocked out by Atletico before lockdown when they lost 3-2 at Anfield
Chelsea was already beaten 3-0 at Stamford Bridge before the lockdown and waiting for the return leg in Munich

By the lockdown date only City was left/had realistic chance of progress in the CL from the PL

We are in no condition to face Real or any top team now. They will smash us. Maybe if Gnabry returns to old form and Coman comes back. Right now Vinicius vs Upamecano is not my type of Porn

Real looked against Leipzig just like any upper midtable BL team. That's absolutely the level Bayern have in them to beat. Of course if Real steps up again (like they should be able to), it would be more difficult, but that's far from guaranteed. Despite being unconvincing themselves there really is only Manchester City who I think to be unbeatable on current form.

Leipzig smashed us already this season 3-0. drew 2-2 and we managed a last gasp winner against them. First Tuchel win vs Leipzig as Munich coach. Before we factor the rivalry and game raising, there is little to raise my hopes from the Madrid vs Leipzig series

Pft. Envelopes are for suckers. Multi-layered schemes involving shell companies, chinese boxes and the 2 government changes across the globe is how Flo rocks

Fair enough. And City's elimination had more to do with "lol Pep" and "lol Sterling" than fitness. It's still 7 finalists out of 12 in the last 6 seasons though

This better not awaken anything in me

Anything can happen on match day though. It’s not like our defense has been brilliant…Nacho and Mendy can be easily targeted. Although we will have Militao back soon.

It isn’t unlike Madrid to drop stinkers in these types of games. Remember we needed a CR7 hattrick in the second leg to get past Wolfsburg. Ironically we won it that year. Or the 1-0 against PSG two years ago. Not saying it will happen again but it isn’t out of the ordinary.

Also: it took the crowd 20 minutes to start boo’ing the team  I know people think it’s wrong to boo your own team and players but I like the ruthlessness and immediately demanding better. Carlo apologized after the game and mentioned the whistles. I see it as the best way to have direct impact from the stands and not allow the team to get away with it.

I hope you get PSG and kick them out. We can meet in the final. :wenger:

Today either we lose 5-0 with Pepe and S. Conceição both sent off or we execute a shithousing masterclass and win 2-1 or something, no in between.

You shithouse your way to a 3-0 loss. You really make them lose their minds but get too into shithousing and forget the football - you concede 2 football plays and they score on both. Then you lose your minds and they hit you on the counter for the third late on

14 years since Arsenal reached the Quarter finals of the champions league and back then they beat Porto to reach the last 8 after losing 1st leg away.

Pretty much this. I expect Arsenal to blow them away.

That was incredibly tame from Osimhen .. he was off so doesnt matter.

Napoli can't afford Mario Rui for games like this

I'm rooting for Arsenal and Barca (yuck)

Because of the chances for 5th getting a ucl spot.

Varela looks fantastic. Should be all over him for a Casemiro replacement.

Yeah I was talking about him a few weeks back on the what do we still need thread. He looks a superb player and I felt we should’ve been in for him from early days - and maybe agreed a Julian Alvarez type move for a player like this.
