Champions League Round of 16 (16th Feb - 17th Mar)

How that foul by Azpi is not given is beyond me. It’s also a red card as there is no attempt to play the ball.

Not enough contact, barely touched him. Best not to give the ref a decision though... Mendy was getting the ball anyway so not sure why even moved arm across like that.

Good to see front 3 combine for the goal. Weve been missing that. Think if Werner and Havertz didn't have league goals harshly ruled out they'd both have kicked on even more already.

Difficult 45 mins still to go though.

Doesn’t look like it will be the strongest quarter finals in history.

So you wouldn't have gone down? You wouldn't have wanted a penalty? That happens to your team and your not bothered it doesn't go to VAR? When you've seen some of the decisions this year? Why would he put his arm out? 0 attempt to play the ball, any contact is a foul, doesn't need to be a WWE clothesline.

Ok mate. My opinion is it would have been an extremely soft penalty and the player went down theatrically. I also don't believe any contact is a foul as it's still a contact sport. Let's leave it there.

I'm not liking the look of the quality in the CL this year.

Could definitely see Liverpool managing to get to the final. They are due a hard draw though so hopefully they get one.

yep Bayern are the only side who stand between an English side winning it this year

I love the change in tactics already from Tuchel. Going from Lampard’s ultra cautious style to this constant pressing and countering. Tuchel will need more players to fully get the team where he wants them to be however the improvement is ridiculous so far.
Lampard was ultra cautious? He was against United in OT this season but more often or not the main problem was having Chelsea poorly organised in defence against the better sides, the opposite of Tuchel so far with Chelsea.

We didn’t score a goal in most of the big games we played this season until Tuchel came in.

Though I guess to be fair part of this stark improvement is visible, because Tuchel took over from someone who got the job for being a club legend and should've been nowhere near it at such a big club. Someone more qualified might have gotten a return closer to Tuchel's from this squad.

Reminds me of another club in England....:wenger:

We have no anfield and we’ll be playing kabak and Phillips in defence. We’re the last team to be worrying about . It would require an extraordinary amount of luck. Right not Chelsea would put us out over two legs.

Usually by a single jammy goal. Not taking anything away from Tuchel as he's obviously steadied the ship, but he's also been pretty lucky.

Not sure if Chelsea are really good or Atletico are really bad... saurez looks slow and unfit.

Yeah this campaign is starting to have 2005 vibes isn't it and really hope Bayern don't get knocked out

which contributes in part to the loss of control
Wonder if Thiago and now Alaba wanting to be anywhere but Bayern had a negative impact on the dressing room. Can’t be good for morale winning a treble then immediately losing two superstars.

Chelsea could be a real threat in this competition and there is no doubt Tuchel has them well organised

Thiago I don't think so, but the fact that Alaba is having a public transfer saga since January after some public back and forth with several board members in the months before sure wasn't ideal.
Generally though I think our team spirit is exceptionally strong and one of our main assets (probably even our single main asset), and even Alaba continues to be a strong part of it.

Aren’t people running out of their use of the ‘lucky’ quota?

Miss Lamps. He'd be getting waxed here and talking about how the players need to have a look at themselves or some crap like that.

Truth. With a nice helping of his English media buddies making excuses for him as well.

You have to applaud Chelsea. Beat Sevilla and Atletico with ease. Cnuts.
