Champions League | Matchday 6

Wtf are they doing with these VAR checks in the CL? Premier League deserve criticism with theirs but some of the checks in the CL they are taking forever and just making it confusing to the viewer.

This ref has let a lot slide the whole game and he was obviously looking for it.

Om the other hand, it was more a foul than that pen Juve got yesterday.
He went down too dramatically. A normal fall and that’s given.

Liverpool are so poor this season
And yet we've qualified top of our group and sit 2nd on GD in the league. We haven't been as bad as people make out. For every poor game there's a Wolves or Leicester performance.

We've had tough games early on and a load of injuries.

Has someone spiked the BT co-commentator’s drink? Routine punch clear by Kelleher is a “BRILLIANT PUNCH!!” and he just described this game for the home team as the “BIGGEST IN THEIR HISTORY!!!”
Somehow, I think their EL match, which actually mattered, against us was the biggest match in their history. Or how about when they came to OT?

Atalanta into the knockouts again. Hope they go far again. Dangerous opponent for any top seed

They're not that dangerous. I'd love to get them in the next round over all the other second placed teams but obviously we can't.

And another thing: That Huntelaar incident should have been a pen for Ajax. A literal shove to the back by Freuler on him.
Oh come on it would have been a super generous penalty..

in any case ajax did not deserve to go through ... they had a single favorable result, they did too little

There’s no player in the world you’d rather have in a dead rubber match than Neymar Jr. As for meaningful matches, I can think of a fair few footballers I’d take ahead of him.

Rhys Williams looked good again. Think someone smart will buy Sory Kaba from midget land because he is a handful in the box. I’d say he’s better than the lumps Newcastle and West Ham spent fortunes on

I don't know who it was but sounded like he was an ex Liverpool player and recent?

Kroos is hilarious in defensive transition

Matthias Ginter. Germany's center back.

FFS. Such horrible defending on both goals.

We need to find a way to let modric play with an oxygen tank

For those minutes where he has legs, he's still fantastic

Why do the commentators on BT Sport seem so absolutely seething over Monchengladbach? It's bizarre and funny how angry they are.

Benzema has had one of the most unremarkable remarkable career. Not a slight but just funny how how he is viewed today considering his achievements.

Really good first half.Lukita Modric spectacular.
Lucas Vázquez showing that he can be a good right back and Rodrygo finally very active.

Real Madrid looking more like themselves tonight. The fear of dropping to the Europa league diving them on a pity most of the United players didn't have the same fear.

Serious first half and for once we got the goals we deserved

Now defend! You cnuts!

Marco Rose has bottled this. Absolutely ridiculous decision to go with a diamond with Real having two attacking wing backs in Vasquez and Mendy. Wendt at LB is getting no help from Thuram because he's playing much to centrally and Vasquez has eat up that side.

This is why I don't rate Rose as highly as Nagelsmann, besides the fact that he bottled the EL group stage last year, and his side conceded three goals in stoppage time in the first two matches (even if they avoided one of those they would be through this group), his tactics in this match have been atrocious. A slow, old Madrid midfield and you're just playing into their hands by playing centrally and congesting the center rather than trying to stretch the play and move them about.

What angers me more is that he hasn't played this formation before this season, he's always preferred a 4-3-3 with Thuram and Plea/Hofmann/Hermann playing as wingers, but today he decided to try something new.
