Champions League | Matchday 6

Real for sure, they just need to beat Monchengladbach. But with a GD of -2 for Inter vs +9 for Monchengladbach, I am not sure Inter would, unless they score 10 goals or something, and Monchengladbach loses. Well I guess if Monchengladbach loses to Madrid, Inter has to win by a 6 goals margin.

nope Inter has 4 points to 1 for Borussia in head to head.

I remember when Klopp once said given the option he wouldn't build a team by buying loads of players for lots of money.

Went back on that fairly quick once it was hung Infront of him

But seriously please no Upa VVD CB pairing is legit cheating.
He’s brought big players in for big fees but it’s not like every single one is a 50 mill signing. It’s the key parts that he’s spent big on. Upamecano is a little overrated and I’d much rather have a fully fit Matip who’s extremely underrated.

The thing is you'll most likely never have a fully fit Matip. He doesn't exist.

Kind of like how Real Madrid will probably never have a fully fit Hazard.

Well, I was hoping that those two last minute goals conceded wouldn't come back to bite Monchengladbach in the arse, they have :(

No way they will get a result at Madrid. Madrid and Inter will likely both go through. Last year Gladbach chocked as well in the Europa League group stage, where they needed just a draw at home to go through but lost with a late late goal conceded, it's as if they don't have that mentality it seal wins in pressure situations.

I thought he said spending big money on one players is not what him or Liverpool are about... just before doing exactly that

I mean if he didn't spend big we would've never got close to City. That's the reality of the premier league. It's extremely hard not to win if you're not spending big money, and even then it can still be a hard task.

We've always spent within our means. Van Dijk and Alisson were funded by Coutinho's sale.

How the hell do you pronounce Kelleher’s first name?

Its Irish for Kevin. Off the top of my head a cross between "Qwee - veen" and "Kee - veen" maybe "Kqwee-veen" Thats the best I can do.

In that scenario where Gladbach loses and Inter win, Inter would go through due to better head-to-head.
I see, I find that way of doing confusing but OK. I'd say they can still qualify both then. Weird. But of course, seeing Real in the EL would crack me up.

Just pointing out his crying about other teams spending on one player just before doing it himself.

If Inter are winning against Shakhtar in the last game then Gladbach and Madrid can agree to a draw in order for both of them to go through now. Really hope that doesn't happen as it would ruin one of the all time best CL groups

Inter must be kicking themselves they couldn't even get a draw out of the two games as they'd be in a very strong position to be through. Vidal messed up the home game but they should've just bunkered up at 2-2 away rather than pushing on for the winner as that would've left Madrid winless after 3 games and all but out.

Most incredibly I actually think Madrid will still win the group which will be really bizarre. Just need to beat Gladbach and that should be enough as Donetsk would then have to win.

Perhaps this will be their Basle 2011 moment but I'm not sure, Real Madrid playing in europa just dosen't sound right (last happened in the mid 90s). Will Ramos be back for that?

Real Madrid will will next week but I’m calling it now there will be controversy about the win, “decisions” will go in their favour

Can't believe there'd be any whining about Liverpool spending.. they're here to win, like anyone else.

People say lots of things. They'll be judged.

It's about winning. They'll be judged.

Feel like the Madrid group is just one of those occasions everybody is rooting for a bug club to fail badly but in the end they squeeze through
Thats the only interesting thing about he group stage isn't it? Otherwise it just involves the excitement of "which of these big teams will finish top of the group?!".

Perhaps. I don't think it's enough to overturn a decision personally. It's not like the Lukaku goal that also cost Gladbach a win in the first game that was offside.
Seriously? Embolo literally had to jump over the ball to avoid it

Also what offside in the first game?

This has been a group of rock-paper-scissor so far, kind of. Inter > Gladbach. Madrid > Inter. Gladbach > Donetsk. Donetsk > Madrid

Istanbul-Leipzig on now, we go through if Leipzig lose. This all could've been so much less stressful if we didn't shit the bed in Istanbul :D

Konate and Upamecano both one yellow away from a ban, we could do with them missing for our match if we lose to PSG today

Istanbul are atrocious. Should've been three goals down in the opening minutes. Won't be getting any help from them tonight.

Yes, they're extremely naive. Have some nice play to get out of pressure but more often than not gets them into trouble. That loss to them was absolutely pathetic all things considered.

If Leipzig win this and we beat PSG (big if of course), I’m not even sure who I’d be supporting in our game next week. Obviously want us to win but if we lose or draw, I would still be pissing myself because PSG would be out

Easy, we win, and then Ole will tell the kids to have fun.

Really hope that Istanbul game doesn't come back to haunt us, such an awful performance when all we needed was a point!
