Champions League Knockouts (12 Aug - 23rd Aug)

For sure. Pique could have stepped out and De Jong could have tracked his runner for that last goal though!
yeah. the two goals I was referencing were the second and third, I think? second goal he was completely missing from right back and I think the third goal he tried to Shepard it out for a goal kick but Lewa got it back because there wasn’t enough momentum on the ball.

Midfield look tired and old, and Barcelona have gone and brought in Pjanic.

Whoever has been in charge of their recruitment for the last 5 years has set the club back massively. Really poor job.

I think they only did it because they got some money back.

Nobody was paying money for arthur in this market.

How? It's true though. Not every full back out there are Davies, Trent & Robertson. Majority others which those called attacking full backs are nothing special what they offer. Cancelo & Semedo good example.
Because the games moved on and the modern day top full back needs to be able to do more than just defend. Top attacking teams typically get their width from their fullbacks these days so they need to be apt going forward, more so than previous years.

Similar to how the role has changed for modern centre backs. Case in point, Chris smalling is still probably the best natural defender in the country and won't get a look in for club and country.

As totally football show said, this game is the "whoever loses gets Coutinho" cup.

Wondering the same thing. Never seen that happen before.
I think it can happen if the parent club give the green light. I remember Lua Lua playing for Portsmouth against Newcastle because bobby robson said it was ok - only for him to score for Portsmouth in stoppage time to bag a 1-1 draw.

Messi.

Supporting Bayern must be so easy. Team plays great football, titles damn near guaranteed every year, always in with a shout in the CL, monopoly on german talent, transfers are seemingly concluded in the blink of an eye.

Must be nice.

It's the equivalent of playing a game with auto-aim/aim assist, infinite ammo and health packs.

They have everything laid out for them in their league, so they can concentrate on the Champions League. Only 34 league games to play, too. They're not in danger of not-winning the league either. Could easily go another decade without losing a league title.

If ever a man deserved a goal, it's Lewandowski tonight. He's been so classy every time he's touched the ball.

Even more braindead when its for generational talents like Davies. Why doesnt every team just have an Alphonso Davies?
Alphonso Davies is not a generational talent  Trent-Alexandar Arnold is a generational full back talent, Davies is just a very good player, with potential to be world class.

Happens regularly. Courtois for Aleti vs Chelsea. James for Bayern vs Real to mention a couple off the top of my head.

Did you miss all the talk of Smalling and Alexis playing against us in Europa?

I guess so, but they desperately need a bit of energy in there. Their squad is worryingly old and they haven’t had a good signing since Suarez 5 years ago. It’s a long list of failures. Far too many mistakes and it’s going to take a very skillful job to get them back on track now.

They are both easily in the top 3 in their position in the world at 19. I'd argue that is 'generational'.

Who’s in charge of Barca? Looks like a cross between Mark Hughes and the head statue from art attack

Ter stegen passing to bayern like he's their teammate.
