Champions League 21/1/25 + 22/1/25

I hate Atletico. No idea why the refs always reward them for this shit

VAR was never going to give a pen in that situation. Also, poor defending by Fernandez there to let Raphina onto his left

Prime Flick-Ball. Just pure chaos and madness.
Indeed. But Benfica is the same. With a proper team they would be trashed.

What makes it sweeter is that the goal was scored by a former Sporting player.

My stomach I can't handle this. What a clown show. I haven't laughed this much in a while. Benfica never fails to amuse me.

And the goal scored by a former Sporting player Raphinha. Never end Benfica, never end.
You can recognize it's a shambles on the refs part though surely?

He had a slow start and was loaned back to Nordsjaelland (spelling?) and was considered player of the year in the Danish league. He's very promising player and has been tearing up lately but needs to prove himself more. He's very talented and it was more of Benfica former manager Roger Schmidt being stubborn and not using him.
Thanks for the reply man, appreciate it

Chock complete from Leverkusen. Disgraceful performance from them.

Tah and Tapsoba showing this is their level and they aren't top class quality. Towering defenders and got outdone by two aimless hoofs towards Alvarez and Griezmann of all people. Can't handle any pressure from attackers.
For his size Tah really struggles at long balls on aggressive attackers.
Todays game reminded me how Brobbey toyed with him in Netherlands-Germany.

Wow. Watching that live I was sure it would be called back for a pen and end up 5-4 to Benfica. Ridiculous.

That's 34 goals and assists in 30 games this season for Raphinha.
When did this obsession with goals and assists being included together start? (Not digging you out as I use it as well).

It was definitely to make it seem like recent players are impressive in the post Ronaldo/Messi era.

In their defense, Wirtz could've easily been sent off well before that. He pulled Alvarez on a fast break and that could've easily been given as his second yellow.

Leverkusen have no one to blame but themselves. Failed to control a match where they had a man advantage, Madrid's energy in pressing in the second half was astonishing and Leverkusen simply had no answer. Add to that, an extremely fragile central defense that always looked like whitering under pressure.

You could see one team were a group of European veterans and the other looked like young kids who had no idea what to do.

I think for a winger especially, assists are definitely stats worth talking about given they are naturally supposed to be creative despite this current generation's obsession with inverted goalscoring wingers.

Barca should have scored 10. They desperately need a left sided forward this transfer window.
A lot of Barca fans keep saying this but where exactly would that leave Raphinha who has been absolutely incredible? Yamal and him are locks in this attack, its Lewandoski who needs urgent replacing this summer. He's just not good enough despite what the stats this season say.
I need to watch the highlights of that Benfica Barca game.
Raphinha's first goal is an absolute treat.
