Champions League 2022/23 - Matchday 3 - 4/5 October

Who’s saying that? Barcelona mauling Inter at home next week would get them a decisive head to head advantage… on the other hand, Spurs winning their next two games at home against weaker opposition would get them through.
Problem is, Frankfurt is quite strong in away games, they often struggle at home lately. Not beating them today could be costly.

You know, Frankfurt winning next week at Spurs would be a real coup and a twist in the group… not that it is out of reach, but I was just answering to @cyberman ‘s declaration that Spurs are out already…… pretty far-fetched for a forum heavily relying upon bookies’ odds, PL superiority complex and similar sense of entitlement?

That’s possibly the worst VAR decision I’ve seen to date. How on earth have they not given a penalty for that. There’s a video of a different angle which clearly shows him handle the ball.

Looks more like chest? Still not 100% sure, so i understand why the ref kept his first decision

Look at this clip. The last angle at the end of the video. It’s a blatant handball. How have VAR not given that?

Absolutely fantastic defensive display from Inter, Barca created feck all. Would be hilarious if Barca drop to the EL.

Yeah especially when a certain Dutchman said how much he wants to play in Champions League

That's a clear pen, but, you know, feck off barca.

Maybe they can pull some levers to buy tissues.

Why bother posting here then? Genuinely?

9 years ago? Not that impressive really, especially when the knock out games have been omitted.

Trying to sound something it’s not by using Musiala’s age as a metric. Hate stuff like this.
I get your point about comparisons like that, but 9 years of not losing (drawing one and winning the rest) a group match at home is "not that impressive"?

Not for me.

If it was that special there would be no need to exaggerate it by weirdly using his age alongside sensationalist wording like ‘let this sink in’.

It sank in. It’s a nice record to have. Thanks for stopping by.

Don't think any other team has a similar record though. I can remember all big teams losing home games on the group stages in recent history.

Yea could be ypu just see the wrist snap back however. It looks to strike both players wrists.
In my opinion, the only thing that could make sense is that the ball touches his head first and then his hand. Then it would not be a penalty kick. But presumably the VAR felt that there was no definite proof and that therefore the decision made on the pitch would stand. In other words, if the referee had given a penalty, VAR would not have overruled him.

Yes but they have removed arguably the most important games from the record (the knock out games)

Kind of makes it all a bit false

Outside of napoli looking great so far, Could club brugge be one of those surprise packages that comes along every few seasons and then has half of their team picked off by clubs in the bigger leagues in the summer?

UEFAlona being truly and duly Ceferined with holier-than-thou Inter being rewarded for all the robberies-we-suffered-in-the-past is an Academy deserving movie for best script and best execution. :wenger:

EDIT: all that without accounting for their 2010 tie and Xavi then playing now coaching Barcelona feeling robbed again.

Yes. They only included group games over that period.

I think they should go one further and include those games that Bayern won outside of the groups too. But only the ones they won obviously. For sinking in sakes. :)

I think so - think they might get to the last 8 or something. The manager will be on radars already too.

Reminds me of when Spurs had Kyle Walker and his backup was Kyle Walker-Peters.

I got excited at that rarity more than I should have. Every person I told didn’t share the same intrigue.

 too true.

Spurs have done it twice. They had Gazza and then somehow found a keeper called Gazzaniga.

I mean, come on. Getting silly now.

i watched that several times during the match and honestly it was really hard to tell if that hit his arm or not

It was hard from most angles except the last one which it was very conclusive. The VAR ref has access to all the angles.
