Juan Sebastian Veron - S.S.Lazio (1999-00)
I just had another look at this, and man, @Gio did an amazing rescue job by picking Zoff. It just hit me how critical that pick was.
Was it determined that Copa Libertadores games counted or not?
Very much so. Zoff opened the field up but choosing the right way to go from there was critical. The Juve pathway was tempting but you'd arrive to the party late with all the top totty gone. Not that I want to take any credit away from Gio, but it was a no brainer. Anyone researching Schnellinger would bump straight into it: to get to him you already used a Milan player so to get out it would be best to look elsewhere... BANG! there's Zoff top of the list in the first team you check.
I'd argue @Pat Mustard did the harder part of the rescue job in making a call on which path to pursue and doing an excellent job. That Juve side looks very attractive on paper but is very hard to get out of without getting some dogshit player in the process or getting too many of a certain kind of player. Picking Haller and skipping over to Vogts was a masterstroke, and I'm sure @Gio would agree having looked into the options available.
Looking forward to seeing how you accommodate all that central attacking talent into the team.I must say that although it might not be the best side in the draft, hell it might go out in the first round, but I love my team!
The problem is I love about 7 or 8 of the other teams as well!
Looking forward to seeing how you accommodate all that central attacking talent into the team.
i would say that is the weakest pick so far in the draft @Cutch
No, I'm free.I'll show you now if you like. You're not AM'ing for anyone are you?
he was not really any good in games that mattered and more often than not got away with mediocrity by staying at Roma. Also i remember him for the absolute lack of spine in Roma midfield when we beat them 7-1. i believe he is generally over-rated because of his looks, i would prefer having a peak Fletcher to him on any day for a big matchDe Rossi is a super player. An Italian World Cup winner with 100 caps and a Roma legend. There's plenty of players with worse cvs I'm sure

I hope I can convince the rest of the Caf that he's a player to drool over. (Am I doing this right @Chesterlestreet?)
Anyone around to take EAP, The Stain, Pat_musterd and Kazi's picks from me ?
Cool, PM incoming. Thanks.I can if you like.
No! The word "drool" is to be avoided too. What you're hoping for is for the rest of the Caf to scientifically recognize his overall decent-ish status in this context. Anything beyond that is pornography.
Good player, mind. And a leftfield sort of pick - which is admirable. Not drool worthy. Admirable.
The funny thing is, for all the fancy Brazilians, you got your best player at 11th.
