Definition of 'Games':
  • All senior appearances count as games (all tier leagues, cups etc). Youth appearances are excluded.
  • For NT Card, all International Appearances will count. Friendlies are excluded.

Club Link:

Player A <club link> Player B <club link> Player C <club link>Player D

There are 2 rules to establish the connection:

Cycle 1:
  1. Player B <club link> Player C: They must have played 15 games for same club in the same season. They need not need to have 15 games together.
  2. Player C <club link> Player A: Both players should not have played with each other for the same club in the same season. Even 1 game together will disqualify the link.
Cycle 2:
  1. Player C <club link> Player D: They must have played 15 games for same club in the same season. They need not need to have 15 games together.
  2. Player D <club link> Player B: Both players should not have played with each other for the same club in the same season. Even 1 game together will disqualify the link.
And the cycle continues...

NT Card Usage:

NT card can be used any time after 5 picks (6th pick onwards)

Player A<club link>Player B<NT Card link>Player C <club link>Player D

Cycle 1:
  1. Player B <NT Card link> Player C: They must have played together for at least 1 game with the same national team.
  2. Player C <> Player A: No links. This chain is broken.
Cycle 2:
  1. Player C <club link> Player D: They must have played 15 games for same club in the same season. They need not need to have 15 games together.
  2. Player D <club link> Player B: Both players should not have played with each other for the same club in the same season. Even 1 game together will disqualify the link.
and the cycle continues...

Others:

For the 15 game link:
If you have stats: 15 games minimum for each (not necessarily together).
If no stats: make bloody sure they were established players and you can prove it.

Good effort (that's how you define clear and precise rules), but still not consistent with the originally stated rule that the NT card resets the chain. If it resets/breaks the chain for C and A on what basis isn't it also broken for B and D? None whatsoever. None that can be described as logical.

NT card breaks the chain, the link is national, clubs have gone out of the window, and the player linked to (C here) starts a brand new chain from scratch, just like in Turn 1.

Now, I'm not being dense here. I'll just spell it out as clearly it needs spelling out: THAT WAS THE RULE, clarification was sought and you clearly said THE CHAIN BREAKS AND STARTS AFRESH.

How is it important? In that my entire theme/topic was to build a team around the 40-50-60s Peñarol side. It's just a storytelling exercise, it's never going to win anything and given how the reinforcement rules are laid out it will end up stuck and feeding from its own inbred pool. BUT that's what I wanted to do, and had a plan for it WITHIN THE RULES.

Then Schiaffino went and it automatically meant I couldn't get Varela either without getting stuck (I could pick someone playing with Varela and not Schiaffino, but not anybody else from that 40s side). I asked for clarification on the reset card and that was clearly a no-go (even when the player I want to pick after is someone none of you would have ever heard of before) so I decided to make a plan around using the NT card.

I came up with a plan, which required Varela being Pick 7 at the earliest (given that THAT WAS THE feckING RULE), I picked every single player since with a view to getting to Varela by the 7th pick, I've even used up my goalie pick because that's the only fecking way of getting back there (it doesn't lead anywhere of any use otherwise).

In the meantime, the card can now be used from turn 5, which doesn't benefit me at all obviously, it only presents significant downside risk when I had it pretty sussed that given where everyone else was they wouldn't be able to get in and steal my boys. Now it is a distinct possibility with various managers because you have given even more freedom to use something very powerful.

But now you say the NT card, which was brought down to turn 5 as a way to make up for eliminating the reset card, doesn't even have the reset properties it was meant to have. It will just get me to pick one more player, and then I'll get stuck there instead of the one before.

Sorry, I love the draft concept, the research it leads to and the entertainment value, but everything related to rules has been complete dogshit.

I thought you were the one who termed the reset card as a cop out and dropped totally. Now NT is to be a version of the same?

OK, I've made it as such. Let's put a top to this and get the ball rolling.

That red bolded bit wasn't an issue for me personally but i can see how it might be for others. If it was said the NT card should reset the chain, so be it. The rules have been ironed out and everything is clear. The theme of this draft is excellent and i'm enjoying it a lot. Cred where it's due, good job @Edgar Allan Pillow .

Im sorry lads I'm not 100% these are the picks Tuppet wants.
I'm fairly confident, should i make them and tuppet can change when he comes back or do you want to wait for him?

Wait. You're entitled to.

Ah feck. I assumed the 15 game requirement was in effect for Player D <club link> Player B as well, so if they only made a few appearances together it didn't stop the pick being eligible. I don't think its going to matter for the specific link I had in mind anyway, as some evil bastard is poised to pick him on us.

You defined it as a clean break from the chain, not me. Sorry for planning based on stated rules.

It was always the case. Link the previous player. No link with one before previous.

Here guys, will be picking in a minute.

Edit: Gonna take a bit more than that.

@Kazi

I'm really pleased with it. Having two picks together certainly helps, and Tuppet is doing a great job with research so far.

Definitely the best spot in this draft I think, but you still have to set up a nice chain. You've both done well to string together a solid chain with no real drop off in quality between picks! Will be interesting to see how it all comes together.

Unsure whether to dive into Italy's 1938 team, or start working my way back up the decades. Zoff was part of my plans ffssss.

We had zoff as a part of a chain earlier to move us elsewhere...But I was a bit nervous relying on one player, even though I thought he was unlikely to be picked too early. Once Schnellinger went, there was really no alternative to Zoff ad far as quality picks. At least that I came across in our "test chain". Although we came from a different angle.

I'd move away from a particular decade, you don't want to get stuck somewhere with no way out, but that's just me.

@crappycraperson get in here quick. He's about to start some of his "mind games" again :D

feck off.
A front three of Figo - Romario - Henry with the spine of Guardiola-Viera? Thats massive

 its getting hard to complete the chain! @Skizzo I feel our front three is pretty much a homage to your side from last draft. Can end up being very similar if we get a certain spanish number ten.

Good luck, ever since you stole Crappy from me it worked wonders, you two are a fecking superb combo.
