So, Sneijder has ruled himself out and Modric despite a bit of flirting with the media seems very unlikely now as 'arry won't sell, Levy won't sell and he's got 5 years to run on his contract.

So who else is a realistic target that would provide us with quality in there?

I know you muppets won't let me down :)

I still maintain we won't sign a big name. It will be a youngster or a cheaper/more unknown option.

We have plenty of talent in CM in the youth ranks? I wonder if we'll be brave and give them a go this year? We'll have to start looking to incoporate more homegrown youngsters into the team anyway with the ruling.

Theres no point spending money on a AM that doesn't improve the squad. If Sneijder, Modric, Nasri aren't available then I say wait for a year and buy the player WE want. Rather than going for a 4th/5th choice, don't want another Djemba/Kleberson situation.

If our youngsters then take off next year, then we'll have saved forking out 20+ million on an expensive option.

Yep.

I think it'll be someone SAF has liked who has been kept under the radar of late. Defour perhaps.

EDIT: Ooh CallyRed you beat me to it.

My ideal muppet signings would be modric and schweinsteiger. Nasri would also be great if we could get him on the cheap.

Unfortunately all of the above are unrealistic, but that is the quality we need ideally.

More realistic options would be hamsik, defour and banega

Nasri and we are done. Highly highly unprobable though

Or Scott Parker

I maybe sending myself to the lions here, but I still think Scott Parker would be a good signing for a year or two. :nervous:

Nasri is playing the Roo game, I expect a bumper pay increase for him & Arsenal to promise new signings. Modric & Sneijder are out of the question. Just my opinion. :)

Banega and Nasri would be great. One very attack minded player and a deep lying playmaker with bite.

I haven't seen enough of him to really judge but I like the sound of his leadership qualities. we haven't had that type of CM since Keane.

Cleverley has spent the last two seasons and his recent time for England's under 21's playing on the wing.

Neither are half the players mentioned so far.

Kagawa is up there with our most realistic signings IMO.

Maybe so but at least they are midfielders or have the passing capability to play there, he's an attacker.

Why do you think he's realistic?

According to BBC site today Napoli are interested in Aquilani, so maybe Hamsik?
