Maybe mate but this issue goes right back to Heinze and Tevez failing to settle in Manchester so it's probably harsh to blame the current regime. And we have had the likes of Valencia, Rojo and Romero seem to settle well enough. Brazilians never seem to be a problem now I come to think of it.
I wasn’t necessarily blaming the current regime. I agree with you it goes back a while. I was just saying that perhaps - in general, we don’t provide the support for them to feel more comfortable here, and that’s maybe why there were reports Murtough was looking to refresh that side of our operation. I remember one of Martial’s girlfriends/wives (when he first came) saying that the club wasn’t really supportive, pretty much put him on a bunch of money and said figure it out or something along those lines

Manchester is growing though, maybe in two decades it will be a crazy nice place to live in. Needs to go through that Hong Kong type of transformation. It never really made sense to me how/why London is the centre of/for everything in the UK. It doesn’t even make sense from a safety POV. Need to spread some of them funds and love up north.

I'd love to know in which part of Manchester it gets dark at 3PM in, because I've yet to discover it. Imagine having so little integrity as a hack that you wilfully publish things that everyone instantly knows can't possibly be accurate.
Manchester has the second fastest rate of growth of major European cities, behind only Dublin. It's unrecognisable from even 20 years ago. It's getting better and better all the time, although I would argue it's losing some character along the way.

No I get what you're saying mate I would be willing to believe that the club doesn't do enough in looking after players compared to some other clubs. But I'm not sure how the club could mentally prepare some SA players for the revelation that some parts of the world get dark between 3-4pm in the afternoon for about a month out of the year.

It was more of a general throwaway remark than anything well thought through in relation to Cavani specifically.
Obviously you can't live on past 'glories' for very long but in general there does tend to be a jump from hero worship to worst player in the world quite quickly.
There's a tendency of a few on here to laud average players, either club youth or bought in, to a stupid level before they've done anything beyond having a good game or two.
What is also a driver here is our social media strategy though. The club has been hyping crap players for years. Our fanbase is getting arsenalised although slower because that lot are really fickle and have not won anything of significance for 20 years.

When fit, what was not that often, Cavani was brilliant last season. When fit this season, which was rare, Cavani was a total non-factor. A magnificent footballer in his day, but Ole should never have urged Edi to remain at OT.
He is getting criticsm now which he doesn't deserve. In reality he was quality signing for first season. Extension was on paper also a good move by us (especially after his first season) but not in a way how we (Solskjaer) did it with all these clauses regarding extended hollidays and shit.

Whenever he was fit and played he gave it his best every game at his older age. More than what can be said of many of the players within this team. Now he flipped off some palace fans and people became angry. People also venting about him being upset about the club holding him here against his own will.
In the grand scheme of things we have been so rubbish that nothing mattered in the end so nut sure why people are laying into him.

Him staying for another year, even after the signing of Ronaldo, was just another clear sign of a complete lack of strategy and the absence of a plan. We've forked over a ton in wages this last 12 months, and he's contributed next to nothing. He was always going to be a stop gap signing. It wasn't hard to see it should've been capped at 12 months. Just an absence of sensible squad building. The club is a complete shit show.

It must be a common mistake though, people understand it's going to be cold and wet but they don't factor in how dark the UK is for 4/5 months a year. This is an absolute killer for your social life and if you're used to that late-evening dining/socialising experience much of the rest of the World has, it's a massive culture shock.
I remember my sister was dating a Greek chap she met in Rhodes. He moved over to England for the first time and I remember distinctly being sat in the pub at about 6pm one evening in about September/October....he said 'what is this weather, why is it so dark so early?'....I said 'it's not the weather, it's because we're further from the Equator, it'll be like this until Spring now'.
His face fell and he said 'what....so it will get dark at 6pm now every day until March/April?"
And I went "no.....it'll start getting dark at like 3pm every day until about March/April"
Honestly, he looked like he might have a breakdown.
We sort of forget what a miserable little rock we live on, plonked in the middle of the Atlantic. We're liked boiled frogs, it's all we've known so we don't feel that urge to hop out of the pan. The folk that come here from nice, pleasant, warm, sunny climates find it incredibly testing.
