Yeah, would've been best for all parties. He didn't want to stay and his contributions on the pitch at that point were so minimal that it didn't justify keeping him at the club.

Yup. Loved him in that first season. A younger Cavani is exactly the type of striker we'd love right now.

It wasn’t really. He had a good month from mid April to May but he scored in about 4 of his first 16 league games for us. People were just enamoured with him but he really didn’t have a good season.
 
Yeah he was good first season but we signed him far too late. Would have been the perfect Fergie signing.
 
As far as I'm concerned he wanted to leave in the summer before the 2nd season anyway, so it was on us as usual. We keep players for way too long.

I'm willing to forgive his 2nd season because the first was honestly a lot of fun and probably the best striker I have seen for us in the post Fergie era. Zlatan was great but Cavani's profile as striker is perfect and tailor suited for United and Premier League.

Yeah he gets absolutely slandered. He was a great player who had a really decent season with us and put in a lot of graft. He fulfills his contract and then we beg him to stay on a year only to sign Ronaldo and barely play him.
