Cavani and Falcao to France despite of City and Chelsea, FFP and Platini being french

The rumor has been around for quite a while. The theory always was that Falcao would join Monaco now and go to Real in January to get around a clause in his contract at Atletico Madrid that prohibited him from joining Real directly. Well we'll see if there is any truth to the conspiracy theory.

You'd think if that is true then they would make sure the clause isn't active until next summer, surely disruptive to lose their main striker mid season!

If true I'm sure he'll be off to Madrid sharphish.

He'll end up at Real Madrid next year. They couldn't buy him now because Atletico wouldn't sell so Mendes put him in Monaco for a year while he awaits a big move. He'll be 28 next year so it's safe to say that he's not going to have another shot at playing for a top European side in one of the best 3 leagues if he doesn't move then. (Atletico were in La Liga but they weren't really competitive in it)

If you are mid-table team in a big League you will never reach the Champions League - so the threat of being banned from the C.L isn't that big a deal short-term. In England there is a domestic form of FFP - but in most Leagues, that doesn't exist.

So if a small club in france suddenly receive a ton of Money to shop players - they will most likely become a top-team in France. And even if they are banned from playing C.L - they are still in a much better position than they were before they spent the Money. In the long run they will probably have a harder time attracting players but they will still be in a healthy position compared to what they were before.

So in my opinion - it's easy to blame UEFA and Platini - but if the domestic Leagues don't attempt to prevent financial "cheating" - UEFA can only do so much

You'd think if that is true then they would make sure the clause isn't active until next summer, surely disruptive to lose their main striker mid season!
Not if they're getting a big chunk of money from it.

Players disputes, club reactions can all be eyewashes sometimes. We're talking about a business here. It's only a sport to us.

"L'Equipe also says that UEFA accountants found PSG directors "a bit haughty" and "less convincing" than their Man City counterparts."

- Doesn't surprise me. City have fro day one been approaching FFP as a deal that needs a whole lot of snakeoil charm and opaque-as-possible business deals to pull off minimal sanctions. PSG made a giant sponsorship deal with retroactive effect as a casual afterthought.

I think city will get away with less than significant sanctions. PSG shouldn't have a prayer.

Cavani reveals PSG frustration

Edinson Cavani has suggested that unless Paris Saint-Germain change their playing system, he could look to leave the club in the summer.

Cavani is the most expensive player in French football history after PSG paid Napoli over £60million for his signature.

The Uruguayan star has not disappointed in his displays and has 21 goals to his name this season, but with Laurent Blanc using a 4-3-3 system, Cavani has had to do his work from the right wing, with Zlatan Ibrahmovic leading the line.

And Cavani has suggested that he is not happy with the situation, which had led to the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid being strongly linked with the 27-year-old.

“Will I remain at Paris next term? We will see at the end of the season," he told L’Equipe when asked about his future.

"I am fine in Paris, but obviously there are things we have to talk about with the club, things we need to do in a different way."

System

Asked about having to play wide because of the system, he said: "Of course it is not easy. Playing besides players like Zlatan, Thiago Silva, Thiago Motta or Lavezzi is great for any player.

"But for a forward used to scoring and which has to do defensive tasks now, it is not easy.

"I don’t want to talk about sacrifices because making efforts has always been part of my game. But now I am more defensive and it is more difficult because when you came, it was with other ideas and other views about your position in the team and the club.

"Playing in 4-4-2 was my vision of the team when I joined Paris. It is one of the arguments that motivated me to sign in that club. Let’s terminate Le Championnat and we will see what will happen.”

Early this season Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho admitted that luring Cavani away from the Parc des Princes would certainly be an easier proposition to that of landing Ibrahimovic.

Asked about Moruinho's comments, he added: "He probably had good reasons to say that, but I don’t know anything. I am not journalist, I am not talking about transfers.

"Indeed, Chelsea was very attracted to me last summer, but what is really important in their transfers? PSG showed real trust and real determination to include me in their project. When you pay such transfer fee, that is a proof you really want the player."

He was asked about reports that Chelsea and Man United had opened talks with his representatives in February.

"Frankly I don’t know," he said. "Nowadays, my family is with me in Paris and if something should happen, my brother will manage it and will sit on a table with any clubs' officials."

We are constantly being linked with him, but I still cannot believe that we will go for him, unless RVP leaves of course
