Seemed to be actively trying to get sent off. That's starting to become a real issue. Well, it already has been an issue, so it's at the point where I'm wondering what the feck he is thinking not to learn from that.

Reminds me a bit of Matic.

He also had a great first half season but quickly became a bit of a liability.

If he doesn't turn over the ball as much as does, maybe he won't have to make so many tackles. There are still so many instances when he gets outmuscled and fails to get the ball anyway.

Bolded goes without saying, but it doesn't change the fact that without him in the side we would have got battered tonight because no one else in our squad can play his role.

If Bayern really do want him, let them take him and sign Lavia and Rice. He’s the epitome of a Woodward signing, despite arriving post-Ed.

All of a sudden his age has caught up with him. Good while it lasted but nothing to rely on going forward.

Who would have thought spending £70 million on a 31 year old who’s never played in the PL and relies heavily on his athleticism would be a bad idea?

It also has to be said his passing is absolutely atrocious. I don’t see how we build a possession based team around a player that gives the ball away as frequently and as cheaply as he does.

Some days his passing just goes missing. When his passing boots are on he's amazing (like in the last match), however on an off day he can be very sloppy. Still had some good tackles and interceptions but needs to be bloody careful, he walks a very fine line sometimes. Way too early to be saying he's already losing his touch. It's been a patch of bad form with still one great performance mixed in.

Could easily have got a 2nd yellow card. Gave the ball away a crazy amount.

I didn't like this signing and I still don't. He's a class player but this is year 1 of his contract. Why build a team around a player that is likely to be on the decline ?

He’s lost that yard or two. That’s all it takes to go from being able to make inch perfect sliding tackles to being that one step behind and constantly giving away fouls. A yard or two at this level is huge, especially when you play the game on the edge as he does. It’s Matic/Schwinstiger all over again. And it was all so painfully obvious it was going to happen.

It's really about time he is reigned in when it comes to the "creativity" he supposedly possesses. Just recover the ball and play it simply, he's nowhere near as good as he thinks he is in terms of passing

His discipline is fecking horrendous.

He gets booked in the first half every single game and can't make another foul for the rest of the match.

All our fans do is blame the refs for our players poor discipline, the players are never held responsible for their decisions.

Possibly, but at some point you have to realise the risk/reward of getting sent off in a game once you're carded. He's experienced enough to understand that judgment yet he's constantly on the wrong side of it. I feel for him in some ways because he is the only one with defensive acumen, but it's no good if he keeps getting himself into these situations and potentially getting suspended and costing us the game.

He picks bookings because he goes to ground too much. It’s either he has lost a yard or two or has poor positioning. His passing is also crap because he often attempts first-time passes that are not necessary.

Two midfielders from teams that are in/near the relegation zone? Are they really going to fix our issues?

Another poor game. He ain't that guy

People have already given up on him and wants him sold. Some of you are unbelievable.

I think it's the sending offs that's been messing with his head, and the lack of play during the suspensions has affected his match sharpness.

Keeps giving the ball away and is a red card waiting to happen.

It's been a while now since he's returned from the suspensions and it's not outrageous to hope for better from him

Guys won more Champions Leagues than the club but feck me it feels like he’s a walking red card in this league.

It’s funny cause people think that the EPL is far more rugged than it is, the snide tackles & innocent face routine get you nowhere here. It’s like we end up praying he doesn’t have to tackle for prolonged periods of every match cause he goes to ground at every opportunity.

It's strange some here are surprised that he hits a rough patch. Of course he's aging but Casemiro being inconsistent, espectially in his passing, is actually a very normal thing considering it arrived regularly at Real Madrid and any person who follows spanish football knows that. I wrote it here before he arrived and was answered, after a couple of PL games "who doubted him he's absolutely world class!!!". He is, when he's in a good mental and physical shape and in the champion's league, otherwise he sometimes has months when he seems he can't pass properly.

Doesn't change the fact that he was amazing during the 1st half of the season.

His passing is much worse at United than it was with Madrid, that's reflected in the stats too.

He's overrated as hell, Matic was even better for us in his first season.

Modric and Kroos hid his weaknesses for years.

It was the opposite. Modric and Kroos were an awful pairing for Madrid until Casemiro started to play behind them.

There's no doubt about his quality. He was the best defensive midfielder in the game for the last few years. However he's also 31 and not getting any younger. He's going to decline rather than improve at this point.

Madrid knew how to squeeze the best of their players before selling them at the right time. Ronaldo, Casemiro, Varane.. Etc.

It’s like he can’t feel alive unless he’s on a yellow card.

That's because we are asking him or he takes it upon himself to try too many crazy difficult passes. He wants to be a DM and a playmaker, in a few games it can work but overall ? He is just not that type of player.

His passing has always been a bit wonky.

He was usually much further up for Real Madrid during their build-up. Modric/Kroos dropped deeper than him.

Because he's asked to do different things on the ball.

If we're going to keep Casemiro, we need to push him a bit higher up during the build-up phases and get in a midfielder that drops deeper than him.

It depends what you're comparing him to. the begining of 2022 he had with Real Madrid was absoluty hideous for example.

The problem is he’s constantly paired up with a bunch of absolute dross and he’s having to work twice as hard to cover for the likes of Fred.

He was poor but I don’t think it helps when he has those two clowns in midfield with him. We may as well have been playing a 4-1-3.

Pretty much my thoughts, although he seemed exceptionally poor on the ball tonight, more so than normal.

Any holding midfielder 21 or 31 is going to have their work cut out with 2 lads in front who keep giving the ball away and vacating space.

Yes, he can play a decent pass now and then but he keeps trying those passes between the line when he has better options. It was so evident today. I doubt those are instructions from the coaching team because Bruno was calmer in possession.

I think he feels he has to be the main man after leaving Madrid when there were 4 or 5 players with higher status than him there.

If those aren't instructions then ETH is enabling him by not asking him to stop it

His passing and first touch have been diabolical since he came back from suspension.

Can't say I fully focused on him when watching Madrid but just from the stats, his pass completion very rarely went under 80%. That has been happening regularly at United all season.

Instead with his passing early in the match but grew in stature in the second half. Had two great chances on goal. A very rash challenge could have gotten him booked a second time.

Let’s sell him, Bruno, Varane and ddg and replace them with flavour of the month players under the age of 22.

Would have been easy to give him a 2nd yellow there. But overall I thought the ref let quite a lot of things go (some cynical fouls to stop counters weren't deemed yellows either).

He's had one good game since he's returned from suspension. Looks 50% fit to me.

But that effort just over the bar, how he managed to catch that on the swivel is beyond me.
