As an experienced decorated player, i would not have expect him to do that. He may not have intention to choke the player but by putting your hands at that position, it looks much worse in slow motion than real life. Totally unnecessary when we thought we had finally gotten an extra goal cushion to see out the game comfortably. I thought he always has a calm mind. I believe he lost his cool largely because his fellow countryman has been bullied and he needs to do what a big brother tends to do.

I won't be so quick to criticise players for doing mental things on the pitch. Sometimes someone gets in your end and you react in ways you normally won't. These players swear and curse at each other all game long.
Shouldn’t have put his hands there but think he was maybe a bit unfortunate that Hughes was down the slope and so was standing well on top of him.

He jumped to the defence of his teammate who was the victim of some thuggery, as the ref seemed to be quite happy with the thuggery (he even booked Anthony, I assume for not hitting the advertising boards hard enough when he was thrown into them).

Lesson learned from even if he was not being overly aggressive - just can't do that these. We are going to be light in midfield but, we can manage these next 3 games without him. He'll be fresh for Barca and final at least.

It annoys me how stupid footballers can be sometimes. All you have to do is stay back and not get involved in scuffles, not raise your hands, not kick people etc. and you'll never get sent off, other than for making a bad tackle perhaps. Can understand it if an opposition player lunges in dangerously and you react in the heat of the moment, but to walk across the pitch and go looking for trouble is beyond daft

I’m not mad at what he did, the red was soft. I’ll see how the next 3 matches without him pan out, could be tough but only time will tell. It’s the only thing that worries me because the drop off between him and the next man up is pretty massive.
