are you saying that SAF should of gone upstairs when it was originally offered to him?
because every UTD fan wanted him to stay on as manager and now he is getting slagged off for doing so

Keano went and had a meeting with Alex to let him know that the players are resting on their laurels, and Alex agreed with him. When Yorke was sold it was no surprise - but he wasn't saying it was just the odd player, it was most! He even pointed the finger at himself (no one has higher standards than Keano) - why should we be any different?

i'll be honest.
i think its a natural decline... most of our players have won EVERYTHING in sight....
its happened to all great teams, we are no different.
i think it'll take us years to get back to the same postition... i hope we start rebuiling from the foundations again...and buy some young players, with talent......

I tend to agree - but you get other teams with less impressive players who are more cohesive and more solid.
It seems to me we've lost the ability to play as a unit.

we should be grateful that we've had it good for so long.........

So you're gonna feck off now, like you did with Lancy ?
(Second thoughts, lets not start on the cricket as well )

Its nice to see you being honest, feck what the scousers think. Our squad is aging, slowing, and lacking strength and desire. He said that he's tweaked around the core of Beckham, Giggs, Keano, Butt and Scholes - I'm starting to question the core, as they're aging. In 3 years time, how many of those will be first choice?

You don't think that the rot had to do with not having a coach?
That was part of it, yes. I did say the rot set in before he got here, so that would indeed be whilst we were without a coach. And I think complacency set in both the players and manager. Efforts weren't made to continue stregthening and freshening the squad. They thought they only had to turn up and win it, such had been the ease with which they were winning the league.
And that his arrival has changed nothing?
It doesn't appear that way from the outside. Are he and Fergie on the same wavelength? Are the players confused by a conflict in tactical advice they are getting? Can't they adapt to a more continental type of play? I always thought we were at our best when we came out of the gates at full pace and put teams under the cosh from the start. We always seem passive at the start of games and let the other teams settle. I don't know the answer to these, just throwing them out there.
The rot set in when Fergie sodded about at the end of our last title winning season. The momentum was lost, Manchester United were no longer seen as invincible, and all for players who were never going to be good enough for the first team anyway.
I'm not sure about this. yes, it took the shine off winning the title a little bit, but I don't think it was the start of the decline.
The rot further set in with the purchase of Seba. Sad but true. He does not suit PL football. He has had excellent games in the CL, but let's be honest, he was no star in the World Cup was he. His arrival meant we had to change the way we played. The way that had been successful for a decade. And it's no good saying we'd been found out. Other teams are successful with 4-4-2, but Cole and Yorke just weren't good enough any more. It wasn't the system, it was the players.
Agreed about Veron. I was sceptical about his signing(but excited at the same time, if that's possible). I just don't think he fits and has disrupted the part of the team that needed the least tinkering. I also thought Cole still had a role to play here, but Yorke had outstayed his welcome.

And short term it starts with Veron. I like him, and I feel sorry for him bearing the brunt of this type of stuff. But he isn't a Premier league player.

Ahhh....so that was your point...
Relax; he's only there as an interpreter for SAF

Its not slower, its more controlled and disciplined. United don't have the players for a "Latin" style game.

Agreed.
It's no good having just the one.

It would work if United had two out-and-out wingers and a slightly more mobile forward line ala Henry. My outlook, however, is United is trying to play as such, and that is why they are struggling.
