Damn, I think you've got it. This is what we get for making a deal with the Satan of sportswear.

None at all, instead 4-5-1 has been more common, and we're playing more consistently poor.

We didn't have a coach last season.
Have we replaced Maclaren. I don't think so personally.

People are trying to find excuses for our poor form and to blame a new coach is all too easy. Maybe not you but certainly many on here.

Alex? We need McClaren, as Manager.

Personally, I don't think he is to blame at all. The rot had already started to set in before he got here.

Neil are you on a personal anti SAF campaign?
that guy is arguably the greatest manager in the history of english football
Or have you been drinking?

I have been drinking! But Clough was a great manager too, but you can't live on former glories. Keano says most of the players are living off the Treble, as if they needn't win anything again - and should go, if thats the case, then the same applies to a Manager. How bad do we let things get out of gratitude? 5th? 8th? 12th?

Kinell we're recycling old Malcom Allison jokes now.....

You don't think that the rot had to do with not having a coach?
And that his arrival has changed nothing?
The rot set in when Fergie sodded about at the end of our last title winning season. The momentum was lost, Manchester United were no longer seen as invincible, and all for players who were never going to be good enough for the first team anyway.
The rot further set in with the purchase of Seba. Sad but true. He does not suit PL football. He has had excellent games in the CL, but let's be honest, he was no star in the World Cup was he. His arrival meant we had to change the way we played. The way that had been successful for a decade. And it's no good saying we'd been found out. Other teams are successful with 4-4-2, but Cole and Yorke just weren't good enough any more. It wasn't the system, it was the players.
With Giggs and Beckham taking charge of the flanks, and two good strikers, we could have beaten Bayern Munich and probably anyone else. But instead, SAF chose to leave out Teddy Sheringham - in form Teddy, leading goal-scorer.
SO no, it's not just down to Carlos Quieroz, tho I don't rate him especially.
Basically, SAF took all the accolades when we were winning, and so has to take the blame now.
Until we get back to a settled style of football and play a midfield with a bit of bite instead of fur coat/no knickers, nothing will change.

SAF or Neil ?
If SAF can't get this lot playing like a United team in the next few weeks, and then gets a tough 2nd round CL draw, Neil Thomson will be the least of his worries come February.

This is Livvie's phrase of the month, by the way. I love it when she talks dirty to us.

I remember it from the 70's...when we used to lose Derby games 3-1.

Yes i agree clough was a great manager but im certain after the success of 99 the players would only want to repeat that and the manager
are you saying that SAF should of gone upstairs when it was originally offered to him?
because every UTD fan wanted him to stay on as manager and now he is getting slagged off for doing so

i'll be honest.
i think its a natural decline... most of our players have won EVERYTHING in sight....
its happened to all great teams, we are no different.
i think it'll take us years to get back to the same postition... i hope we start rebuiling from the foundations again...and buy some young players, with talent......
