So say The Sun
Apparently its between us and the Arse to get him on a one year loan.

That would actually be a good reason to sign him. However, if that happened I could see the Arse getting Martyn from Leeds.

He's an excellent keeper that JUVE had to part ways with b/c Buffon will be the number 1 jersey there for a while... and Carini is not a reserve keeper either.

He is class. In fact, Uruguay had trouble with FIFA in the U-19 WC because he played there being 15 (he was THAT good) and FIFA had some stupid rule (probably aimed at African players with "uncertain" DOBs) that you couldn't play twice in it so they weren't allowing him to play again.
He would give us 10 years of very solid goal-keeping.
BTW, Kemo, FOL!

Banks was brilliant 30 years ago, Shilton was pretty good 25 years ago. But Seaman and Martin? If they're the best of British, no wonder the Empire's gone.

Not at all cost. I would always prefer a local player, but if there is better class thats foreign, go for it.
Let's face it, England's goalkeeper situation is not very good. Of the top 6 teams, two have the aging England internationals, one has an Irish international and three have foreign quality.
