Can we realistically sign the players we need to save our season in January?

Thing is though we are already out of the LC, more or less out of Europe and already only have the league and FA Cup left.

The cup is an anomaly- it’s a case of who you draw and what happens on the day.

We’re well placed in the league all things considered, City and Liverpool took points off each other, Villa and Spurs could do the same and we have games against top 4 rivals coming up. If we can get something from those games we’re set for a good run in. Who knows what could happen.

Urgh, we should be trying to win cups, not winning cups should be seen as a failure. It always has been in the past. Why have we suddenly decided to lower our expectations to do just doing ok in the PL and then making excuses for when we get knocked out of cups. You can still support ETH and be pissed off at how shit we've been in the CL and League Cup. To just wave it off as an anomaly is I'm sorry, idiotic.

Having said that, we aren't technically out of Europe yet and despite my belief that we're going to be terrible through December there is a chance I could be wrong and we could come out of December into January still somewhat near to Top 4.

No and I don’t trust the manager making anymore signings right now.

I was talking about the FA Cup. As in we can’t predict how we will do but never mind - good rant!
Our CL form is clearly not an anomaly as every game has followed a similar concerning pattern, go ahead, back off, concede and collapse. We should have already been qualified at this point.
Out Carabao cup ‘defense’ was frankly pathetic. We never turned up and got the beating out performance deserved. Not good enough.
I am optimistic we can get on a run in the new year if we survive the next 4 games, and even if we drop out of Europe and only have the league to focus on that may benefit us anyway.
Expectations have dropped because we have been badly mismanaged for 10 years and have been left behind. We simply don’t have the squad to compete for titles yet.

Maybe we can finally sign Brian Brobbey and Arnautovic to solve our goal problems.

The Guardian is reporting our interest in the Stuttgart striker, Guirassy - second only to Kane in the Bundesliga with 15 in 10. They only bought him in the summer but he has a release clause of £17.5m

Thanks. Honestly, it's frustrating as hell on the caf right now.

I also realised we've deviated away from the OP. So to get us back on track....

Realistically no, it's not the squad that's the issue for me. It's our lack of structure, lack of confidence, lack of man management and most importantly, we are fecking abysmal at managing a game, there is zero match craft. Way too often we let leads slip, we concede dumb goals at stupid times in games. I've been banging this drum for months now. When you've got a 2-0 gap and playing away from home in a MUST WIN game in the CL, what you don't do, is continue to play attacking football and try and score a 3rd. Paul Scholes said it well no discipline. Stick to your positions and calm the feck down. But this is what happens in every game we play against tough opposition, it's the repeated story over and over again. We can't say it's a lack of experience, we've got experience across the team, so why do we constantly do this, why don't we learn from our mistakes. It's infuriating.

Either, this is something Ten Hag wants us to do, or alternatively, the players simply don't listen to him. It's one or the other.

Looks good in YT videos. No brainer for such low release clause. But the problem is we have poor record signing from Bundesliga.

I think a lot comes down to our quality of players in midfield and attack.

If an 18 year old comes into midfield for the first time and looks like our best central midfielder, there is a problem.

Very similar with a 19 year old and our attack, he's beaten Rashford to play on the left. Tbh he might be our only attacker that's shown up along with Bruno who has other criticisms.

I'm just not sure what anyone can do with these players, they can't play the football Ten Hag wants.

Though he did pick quite a few of them, he hasn't created any standards, and keeps playing players who are terrible instead of getting others get more chances.

Lots of blame to throw around.

Low cost and he's not gonna be our main striker long term, will rotate Hojlund and hojlund still the long term guy. Basically replaces Martial. I like it

We don't have that great a record signing players from the Eredevisie either!

Edit: or from anywhere really.

Not sure Serhou Guirassy would be a worthwile signing in honesty, his record for Rennes and the other clubs he played for is a bit poor and last season he scored 11 in 22 for Stutgart which I think is the same goal to game ratio Weghorst had in the Bundesliga.

I do think it would be a worthwhile signing, especially given the fee. Also, 15 in 10 in a much stronger league is impressive.

Plenty of cheap options that would improve our squad greatly. We aren't playing Varane because of his poor ball ability, but his pace would help us hold a highline.
We don't need expensive players, we need the right profile.

Signings won't 'save our season'. Returns from injury, individual improved form and continued hard work on the training ground will. Signings might be a good idea but they will need bedding in, not all of them will be successful, etc etc. And January signings are especially unlikely to immediately have a positive effect. When was the last time one did for us? Bruno, with his freakishly good start?

With the money from the 'takeover' going right into the Glazers pockets? No we're getting a loan or nothing.

"Vs Elche". And it shows in the video. This just looks like a load of conventional passes under almost no pressure.
