Can we be CL winners again?

I would love to get Real Madrid to OT and show them whoese the Daddy!.

I remember in 2000 when I still can't believe how lucky they were. An o.g, and another couple of goals from schoolboy defending.

We battered them in the first half. Casillias had an absolute blinder.

I honestly believe we would do them. I think Keano, Giggsy, Rio, GNev and Ruud would relish the game and play to their top form. The only one problem I see is that Roberto Carlos killed us last time and he always gets the better of Becks.

As for the Italian team, I think AC Milan are good, but not THAT good. The Italian teams are past their best.

Spain is where the threat comes from, without a doubt. Plus I cannot see many teams getting the better of Arsenal this year.

They have a very easy group though.

They have never beaten United before and I don't think they will start now. Plus, they lack a top quality striker, someone who puts the ball in the net regularly. Having said all that, Aimar is looking outstanding....

they always flatter to deceive.....come the knock out stages they start playing tighter and get really nervy. Can't see them doing better than quarters

Valencia flatter to deceive? They made the final in 2000 & 2001, and only lost to bayern on penalties. That's pretty good!! How can that be flattering to decive?

And let's not forget, it was they and not Real Madrid who won La Liga last season. And by a pretty wide margin.

Put your faith into Man Utd!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've said it before and I'll say it again - watch out for Valencia.

(Now you've all ignored me before and you'll ignore me again :D )

I'd be suprised if they don't make atleast the quarter finals. They do look shit hot

Yes,we had a pretty good team back then, though not as good (great?) as the one now.

Only making the point that 1999 was really the 'high water mark' for you lot....I don't think you have been as good since and probably you are poorer now than for quite some years. So,unlike 1999,when,being honest, you were an exceptional team, the current squad has little chance of equalling their exploits.Leaving Arsenal aside, even you must admit that the 1999 side was the best since 1967/68 (better even than 1995) and that the current team is just not as good?

Fair enough. But the question is, are the current team good enough to win the European Cup? I think they are. We might have to scrape through to the final on away goals, but we can get there. And once we get there... well the final IS at Old Trafford.

97/98, Arsenal - double
98/99, Man Utd - Treble
01/02, Arsenal - double
02/03, Man Utd - Treble
hey...logical!!

I've just watched Real Madrid beat Alaves 5-2. They are looking very strong. They probably have the strongest squad out of any of the teams in the CL.
You can't rule out Bayern. They may no be playing at their best but they'll get through the first phase and then who knows.
One team no-ones really mentioned is Juve. They have been poor in Europe in recent years but they still could be in the mix come the knockout stages.
This years champions league is stronger than i can remember it, all the big teams seem to be playing well. The draw for the second phase will be very interesting.

There was something in the match program about this. Basically, there logic was, if you've won it once, you'll win it again.

Sounds daft to me ;)
