Buying an XBox 360 - Advice please.

But he'd have been able to go online straight away and play his mates, which is what he said!
Ah, true.
Explain this to me RD. I looked at the purchase options for Gold membership. The best value is obviously the year membership. You can also do it 3 months at a time, for £15, or £5 a month. So what's the difference between those last two options? Why would you tie yourself to 3 months, when for the same per month price, you can end it at any point on a rolling month to month contract?

You've just explained the difference, I wouldn't know anyway as I get a year each time.

So your PC is using a USB DSL modem to dial out to the internet?

If that's the case then you will need to have an ethernet card on your PC & you will need an ethernet crossover cable, you will also need to enable internet connection sharing on your PC.

:wenger:

My ethernet cable should arrive tomorow or Tuesday, i have an Ethernet port in the back of my modem so i'm just gunna plug it in there and hope for the best...

I reckon it's alot cheaper if you just get another standard modem, one with ethernet ports.

My modem has an Ethernet port on the back though - one that isnt being used.

Right - i now have the Ethernet cable an i connected it from my XBox to the back of my PC. I'm going to have to connect it using the Internet Connection Sharing method.

I ran the connection test and it said that the connection was 'wired' but then fails on the IP test
