Bundesliga 2018/19

BVB are really holding on v Frankfurt after having played them of the park in the first.

Strange take on the game. BvB have had majority of the possession and looking to get something here and Frankfurt are the ones defending. Tbf nobody has had that many chances in the 2nd half.

What game did you watch? Reus should scored a hattrick in the first ... Funny how people see things differently.

Hummels is just plain terrible, Can anyone explain Hummels movement for that 3rd goal?

Liverpool v Bayern could be something like 6-3 in the first leg, Bayern cant defend at all and the scousers have no centre backs. Definitely smashing overs for that game.

Could have been worse for Bayern. Title race could have ended today.

Bayern:lol::lol::lol:
Against Bottlekusen of all teams!

Agree about first half. You said BVB are holding on...which was what I disagreed with.

Good point in the end for Dortmund against a very tough side, as they gain 1 point on Bayern. Maybe Frankfurt would have deserved more though. They looked the better side in the second half.

Maybe you dont understand, BvB are making gap bigger with a point. Bayern are not good enough.

3-1

You'd have to be silly to write Bayern off. They've been in a far worse position before and ended up taking the crown. I hope BVB take it, but I certainly won't be putting the mockers on.

Silly or not, my money is on BvB. Bayern isnt in the right state currently, and i am writing them off. Getting torn apart on the counter by a Leverkusen side under Bosz :D Brilliant

The title race isn't over. Paco is not firing like he used to and when Reus gets injured, Dortmund will miss his goals badly. One badly timed tackle on Reus could change the fate of the league.

You can say the same about Lewandowsky.
Bayern doesn't have a replacement for him. If he gets injured Bayern are f*cked.

Even though Kovac is a terrible manager, their problem is far more than him. It's accumulation of terrible squad management for years now.

It‘s true that Bayern have no replacement for Lewandowski, but Reus is much more likely to get injured. His body is not made to stay fit for 50 matches in a season.

Of course Bayern had a big game changer in their squad up until this week, but now that the best German striker has decided to conquer China, they will have to cope without him.

Why was he allowed to leave? Considering that they don't really have a back up for Lewa?

On more than one occasion Hoeneß said that Kovac' biggest problem were "players in a bad mood". Wagner was one of those and arguably Kovac' biggest adversaty within the team alongside James. I suppose they thought the risk of having no Lewandowski back up was worth taking.

Because he's a bit shit and never plays anyways (because Lewa is basically never injured).

If Lewa gets injured the season is over/Müller or Gnabry are taking his spot. With Wagner in the squad the outcome would be the same though. So it doesn't matter.

The squad is better than the results. As a United fan I don't have to tell you how sub-par coaching can distort the perception of players' abilities.

It's poor, consisting of mostly of over the hill players who are playing with their name only for a long time time and few inconsistent youngsters. This was going to happen sooner or later and it's better to happen now to invest a little in this squad. The squad needs to revamped and stop giving old players contracts because they're just big names. The squad management of the past several years has been shocking and it was bound to explode at one point.

A new manager may guarantee the league as I said Kovac is terrible manager but you're not going anywhere in European competition with more and more years of declining old players and inconsistent youngsters.

In some ways Frankfurt with their immensely athletic squad and aggressive style are a counter to Dortmund's more patient approach. I think its okay to drop two points there, as the team was a lot less impressed by their style than in the years before. What's important is that they gained a point on Bayern after the winter break, despite facing two of the most difficult away fixtures of the season.

It'll be interesting to see how Bayern will react to their loss. While I still wasn't impressed with them tactically they had a very impressive run that can't be denied and perhaps brought back their usual confidence level.
Conceding three goals, squandering a lead and decisions like bringing on Davies for James might open some wounds of their winter crisis. Gladbach overtaking them could also be sombering.
On the other hand a win in their next match can just as easily put them back on track.

Yeah, but only slightly. Before the season I would put the end tally of Bayern in terms of points in the mid 70ies. Your management simply could not stop the decline in squad strength, both in terms of peak and depth. Right now you are on course of playing a 72 point season so slightly below my expectations.

The thing is that this point tally generally is still enough to win the league, though. Only on two occasions in the last decade has the second place team finished with more points than that.

So while Bayern has it´s struggles, these are only really exposed because we and also Gladbach play seasons that exceed everyones expectations by a wide margin.

The draw today in Frankfurt (one of the toughest away fixtures) puts us 7 points ahead, which is especially psychologically a big difference to the 6 points before. It means that even a loss in Munich does not put them in immeadiate striking distance to us. If we win there, we win the league, of that I´m absolutely certain at this point.

We’ve mismanaged the squad for years now. Ribéry and Robben should have been gone long ago, Martinez is a disaster of a player, Müller is terrible without the right support, Neuer is awful since the injury and we’ve bought loads of players that don’t improve us. Add the decline of Boateng and Hummels and you have a problem. Add the fraud that Kovac is to the equation and you have the worst football since more than ten years.
But things won’t change, as long as Hoeneß can act like he owns the club.

Cup - Final of 16th

Leverkusen after winning against Bayern Saturday go out 1:2 against 2nd league team Heidenheim...

Classic Leverkusen. And classic Nürnberg, they will swap places with HSV in the league too next year.
