Gaming Building a gaming PC

I’m not sure to be honest. I hope not. Where are you from?
I'm in England. Don't get good vibes from a universal release at a uniform time. Know them well from limited edition releases etc. and they are always a shitshow; sites crashing and then reappearing a bit later with stock totally sold out.

Think these are going to go the same way if you can't pre order.

Cards are due to go on sale at 2pm tomorrow. Try Nvidia, overclockers, awd-it, scan, Currys, Amazon, Ebuyer. Have them all opened and hopefully you’ll manage to get through somewhere. That’s what I’m doing at least.

I'm gonna hold off to see when the EVGA Hydro Copper is released and it's price.
I'm going full water this time round and I'd rather not have to crack open a card and feck it

If I was going for an air card, I do really like the founders, but considering I'd be vertically mounting, it'd be showing the shit end so that's a no go

Not buy one as a stop gap? I’ll probably get the the 3080ti king pin if it’s going to come out next year. Or maybe go for the copper as well.

Also AMD fan boys put back in their place.
Going to get 10850K for 440 quid and overclock it to 5.2ghz to go with the 3080.

Well I'm hoping the Hydro comes out next month. If it's months away, then I'll just get a different card.
I'm building from zero again, so waiting on the Zen 3 announcements, so got a bit of time to put it together

I was going to wait for zen3 but then I still decided to go with intel. I can get a good intel chip this year and then 10nm next year. I’ll have all the system gen 4 ready — I’m starting from scratch too hence I’m happy to get any 3080 card I can get my hands on now. I’ll swap it out when stock becomes readily available. I’d say after tomorrow, there is next to no chance getting 3080’s for a couple of months at least.

Is the gpu you're going for the same price on all those sites?

Lowest price is £650.00. I’ve a budget of £750.00 for the time being so I will get any AIB card that I can in that price range. They’re all going to perform the same if you don’t plan to overclock them or they’re overclocked out of the box. I’ll try to get one now to keep me going until I can get a premium one when stock normalises.
But yeah I guess what I’m saying, I haven’t thought of the price because I’ve no idea which AIB card I’ll end up with tomorrow or even if it will be a founders edition.

Right. Pretty much the same idea as me as I'll use this as a tide over until the suped up cards come out next year.

If it's a first come first serve basis, it'll be anarchy tomorrow. Just hope the sites can handle the load.

It will be first come first served tomorrow. AIB partners didn’t have a lot of time to put these cards together so I wouldn’t be surprised for better iterations to come out. Nvidia apparently don’t want to oversaturate the market if they don’t have to so whether super or ti version are released will depend on how Big navi does. But yeah I’m using this card as a stop gap until I find the card to rule them all basically.

Feck it, I'll try and pick one up and sit on it and see what happens
You should. It’s got good price and performance. Though, If you game at 1080p there might not be much point judging by the reviews. These cards really show their value proposition at 4K.

Yeah I'm picking up a G9 I think.
I'll pick one up to secure one, but may flip it if the one I want comes out before I build, so I guess could be a win win

Nice! I’m going to be playing on C9 which I can’t wait to test out. Going to revisit so many games at 4K ultra and really nice frame rate smoothed out by gsync.

Yeah my C9 is sat in my living room, which will be awkward to hook a HDMI up to.
I've already considered throwing a HDMI out the window down and through the living room window when needed

Do you have a better solution?

Have you not considered going for a cx 48 over the g9? Price is pretty much the same? Yeah I’m building my rig in a h510 elite so it shouldn’t be to bad in terms of space. I’ll have to set it beside my tv stand but you can’t have it all unfortunately. Well you can but sure.

I'm wanting a dedicated monitor.
G9 pretty much covers the lot for me. 1440p, 240hz, ultrawide.

Me now after buying a 550w PSU to save 25 quid on my new build last year

 I'm hoping my 650w Seasonic will do, though 750w is recommended for the RTX3080
Most of the people reviewing the RTX3080 are doing so on power hungry CPUs like the i9 10900 but even then it sounds like it should be a 700w PSU minimum.

Anyway I'd be more interested in the 3070 which is hopefully going to be less power hungry.

Although realistically i'll stick with my 2060 super for a while yet.

I input my system into one of those power calculators and it said my system would use 590w at full load. Guru3D recommend a 650w PSU for the average gaming system based on their measurements in their review of the RTX3080. Hoping it will be fine. If it's not I'll upgrade.

The only sites that are working for me are:
Nvidia - Not released yet
AWD - Not released yet
Currys - Not released yet

Nvidia is staying sold out for me. What an absolute shit show this is.

Might be better of preordering one of the third party cards. Think the Gigabyte one at £649 is available to preorder at Ebuyer with a date of the 25th. I can’t even get on scans website!

I’ll be waiting for the 3070 or even the 3060 (if there is one) as I’m only doing 1440p 60 anyway

I could easily have ordered up to 5 cards.
I've one through everything and it crashes right at the end, so I've no idea if I'll run Nasa by next week

Check the bank acc or paypal you bought with.

Exact same has happened to me. Literally crashed at the PayPal completion of purchase point.

Nothing has come through on my PayPal, so I am certain it wasn't a purchase despite crashing at such a late stage.

EDIT: just come up as pending on my PP.
