Bruno Fernandes | Signed

Shouldn’t we be going for a CDM or a box to box midfielder? I’m not sure this is the right time to buy Bruno.

I get your point but for me it’s no wonder we are lagging so far behind with recruitment the way in which we do our business is appalling. This sort of deal should have been negotiated weeks if not months ago, for me we no longer act like one of the biggest clubs. And as for the board wanting it done, I’m not so sure about that...

This. Don't think we'd be in for him at all in this transfer window if we had signed Haaland. When that deal fell through they had to act and try to sign someone to save face and silence some critics.
Not signing him early in January could possibly cost us advancement in two cups (two possible titles) and see us fall further behind in the league and lose a CL-spot.

Grealish is shite, Maddison isn't anything special either. Just overrated cause they're English
You've never seen him play, have you?

This transfer leaves me feeling completely cold. It goes against everything the club has said it wants to do like waiting for it's top targets to become available and not blocking youngster development.

It looks like Ole and Woodward are prioritising short term goals over long term gain and even then it's still unlikely to succeed as he'll probably need at least 6 months to adjust the pace and lack of space in the PL compared to Portugal.

Hope I'm wrong but I think this will be a failure of a signing and it will mean we lose both Gomes and Chong in the summer as they won't get any playing now.

It's the first time I've doubted Ole is the right man for the job.
This?!? This is what is making you doubt Ole? The losses to Watford, Newcastle, West Ham, Bournemouth & Palace were totally fine, but going after Bruno Fernandes as an alternative to Lingard and Pereira is the problem? What part of Liverpool are you from, may I ask?

Anyone else starting to get a bit worried with this? Usually when it goes this quiet it ends up coming to nothing which would be a real shame.
No, if they balls this up the fanbase will go ballistic at them, especially after what happened at Old Trafford on Saturday

I've not seen a great deal, but I'm guessing that he's substantially better than Lingard (admittedly a rather low bar)?

Does seem to have a reputation for giving the ball away a lot, although that does mean he should fit in nicely with our other midfielders.

Most creative players who play further up loses the ball a lot though. I don't mind as long as they do trying to force things in final third. And, it is why the work rate and high press is important.

Otherwise, why bother with those type of players? Might as well keep the likes of Mata who would happily be tossing the ball side by side for most of the times.

O
Can he head the ball? He's only 5'10 maybe he'll be taking the corners. We've seen what mata can do when he starts. I'd rather invest in a great big forward who can score ugly goals from set pieces.
One of the worst things I've read. "only" 5f10i is pretty average. I think KdB is 5.10... Maybe city need to ship him out and get Heskey?

Was hoping he might play mid week. Suppose it will have to wait til the big game this weekend.

He’s scored 45 goals in 18 months from midfield which is incredible and both the player and Sporting are up for a sale so why isn’t there a long queue of clubs after him? Seems really odd how we seem to have a free run at him considering his recent form.

The thing I love about this potential signing is his age. He's just about to reach his peak so we don't have to worry about losing him to the Spanish giants or any "dreams" of Madrid, etc. etc. etc.
