It's either Rojo or have feeling it be Angel Gomes maybe?
Wont be surprised if it's both- Rojo on a perm deal with Gomes on loan or with a buy back, given that his godfather has roots in Sporting. Not sure if Sporting is the right place for development now though...

My only slight concern, watching the youtube vids, is the fact Bruno seems to be competing against some really poor sides.

The majority of his goals come against players who look, frankly, laughably amateur.
Many of our dropped points are against supposedly "poor sides" though

That was my thought, a lot of the stuff he does looks really scruffy and involves terrible play from the opposition, although the pitches look terrible too. Another thing I noticed was that ball they use seemed to move a lot which benefits players that take long shots. The PL ball doesn't move that much. The ball they use in the League Cup does move and is the big reasons why there have been so many screamers in that competition this season.

Sides that sit deep and defend well.
And a good passer/long shot taker will help there, not to mention a good set piece taker, rather than Lingard who does zip all with the ball or Pereira who is terribly inconsistent. Bruno reminds me of a much better version of Pereira actually.

So this guy can play as an 8 or a 10... we currently start Lingard and/or Pereira... and some on here are not interested

Because the criteria should never be “better than Lingard and Pereira”.

Danger is we fill the team with expensive, mediocre players that may get us 4th but aren’t likely to kick on from there

But it takes time to get there given our current position. We cant attract the world class players now, what with no UCL and all that. Let's cement top 4 positions first before thinking about winning the league again. Not many people thought players like Mane and Salah were world class back when liverpool bought them, but look at them now, as much as it pains me to say it.

Must be semantics as i would say the criteria should be "always" better.

And if this guy helps us get 4th then I would say mission accomplished as the difference between 4th and 5th is the difference between us talking to players like Sancho or not.

But what more can he do? That is out of his control.

What's encouraging is internationally, he has been doing well. Looks especially nice next to Bernardo Silva.

Just reading through the comments, so there's no actual truth just rumors that we are in for him?

Always had a concern about this guy because his numbers are so good that it didn't make sense that nobody was in for him. Perhaps he didn't quite reach that sweet spot on the price they wanted for him and now circumstances seem to have changed.

By all accounts this guy has an outstanding shot on him and also seems very capable on the ball. Good vision, nice weight of pass. These are all qualities that should easily carry over to a better quality league. His challenge would be whether he can generate the space to get himself on the ball in the right positions in this league.

Character wise he looks solid. Runs all days and his performance level hasn't dropped this season despite not getting his move this summer and playing for a club with problems. It would have been easy for him to sulk or lose confidence in himself but he looks to have gone the other way which says a lot about him.

I really like a fee of around £45m. If we can get him for that price with his age and abilities its definitely a value transfer for us.

The task right now is to make ourselves a consistent 3rd or 4th team in the league then look to kick on from there. I think getting Bruno and someone like Zacharia in our midfield will do just that whilst Rashford and Greenwood are improving and could grow into the two twenty goal forwards a team needs to challenge plus there is always room for another world class forward.

Think his character is one of the reason why Ole wants to push through the move now - remember how Ole stressed on getting the right kind of characters in. Bruno is no sulker and gives his all for the team, even though Sporting are in a mess now and the team bar Bruno is terrible, he is a great player surrounded by poor players. Completely opposite from our Jesse, who may have Bruno's work ethic on the pitch but is at the moment, is a poor player surrounded by good players.

Have we signed him yet? Unzip? Time to pull our cocks out and do the helicopter?

Indeed.
And getting value for money is the most important thing when it comes to transfers.
Any money we save, can be given to the Glazers and that's a win in my book.
On serious note: fans need to stop thinking about saving money. Woodward has somehow brainwashed fans into this way of thinking and rather than thinking about winning trophies or our league position, fans seem more worried about getting value for money.
If tomorrow, we went out and spent £1bn on the top 3 players in the World, and the best manager in the World, I'd be ecstatic because I know that this will lead to trophies. I don't care about saving money and giving it to the Glazers.

This transfer does seem to be more than just a rumour, but nothing official yet from anybody. Just press rumours that Sporting Lisbon officials are in talks with MUFC officials.
This means that there is a high likelihood that both teams are trying to get the deal done. Whether the deal happens....nobody knows.

Probably been asked before but can he play both #8 and #10. I take it he is best at #10 which is where I'd imagine him slotting comfortably into our team

Yes, he can. I have seen him some matches this year and he is a technical player that sees everything around him. His passing skill is good, technic good, phase good, shooting great, creativity great, work rate good, tackle ability is not that great.

Please stop with brainwashing comments. Theres really no need for them. It's important to get value because we need another 4 players and we are not a bottomless pit of cash.

Even in these bash the club at every opportunity times we live in that shouldn't need to be pointed out should it

Seems like a bit of a hybrid to me. Or, if you will, a No 10 who frequently drops quite deep. He's got the work rate of a central midfielder, though - he clearly isn't a luxury player in any shape or form.

In a 4-2-3-1 for us he seems a shoe-in for the role Lingard/Mata/Pereira have all played (badly to varying degrees) for Ole thus far.

The only way we don’t look like fools for not signing him in the summer is if Ole thought lingard would step up and he hasn’t at all. He’s a lingard replacement more than a pogba right?

Sorry, and how would that make us not foolish? Lingard with no league goals and assists in a year would have to step up a lot of levels to match Fernandes' productivity.
