Yeh, agreed. I just think that Fernandes is the better goalscoring midfielder that I don't think Maddison has it in him.
I reckon our new “signing” Neil Ashton is furiously drafting a pr response if we don’t sign Bruno. If you’re reading this Neil...damn you...damn you to hell you dirty ape!

He'll finish the season close enough to double figures.
Give him two years he'll definitely improve. I think he has much higher ceiling.
Thing is , he isn't worth the amount LC are quoting. He will be an average player like Maguire for us and people will start questioning the money spent on him.
Anything above 60-70m, hope we just move on to next target . There are so many targets who could be available for that price who will make our team much better.

Doesnt matter which one we sign. Bruno or Maddison will spend 3-4 games looking very good, probably scoring 1-2 goals and assisting 1-2. Then they'll succumb to the weak-ass coaching we have and by the summer they'll look like a complete waste of money. And yeah, whoever Leicester replace Maddison with would look incredible because Rodgers and co are actually good at coaching an attacking football team, unlike our bench which resembles Man United's Cretaceous Period.

There is player called Pizzi, who plays for Benfica and has 12 goals and 8 assists and usually plays as a RW or CM. Should we go all in for him and pay like 70 mil. pounds? Because he has obviously nice stats, definitely better than Bruno (8G, 7A).
It is still Liga NOS, none of those guys can match players who already proved themselves in Premier League like Madisson or Graelish did. It is so much faster, so tough, so negligent. You have no time, you either pass the ball or you will lose it and it will be paintful. Look at Fred, he was so slow with the ball that he lost it so many times, because he wasnt used to the intensity of the game. No one cares how much you cost or how good you were in Portugal or whatever, you just have to prove yourself at the very best league in the world and many guys failed trying to. Lindelof, Rojo, Dalot (hello Bebé) those guys came from Portugal and looked like perfect fit or at least talented players who are better than what we already have (not Bebé, he is just good meme). Well, they are not. Lately I watched some games because of Bruno and the level was so bad I wasnt able to watch it through the end. And I am from Czech republic, I know how bad football looks like and I am used to it. :-)
But my biggest concern about him is that we are the only one who goes to sign him. He is supose to be so good so why Barca, Real, Madrid, Juve, PSG, or someone from PL is not trying to sign him up? He is already 25 years old and Sporting is trying to sell him for second transfer window. It is a big questionmark for me right there.
Burno seems like good player, definitely tier 1 in Portugal and I would like to see him here, but it is huge step and I wouldnt expect too much from him, definitely not instantly if he comes in the middle of the season. Is he better than Lingard? Yeah, I am almost sure about it, because Lingard is championship level player at best, but is he at least as good as regular CM/CAM starter for other PL clubs? Well, we will see. He just have to come now..

Ed has probably already planned swooping in during the summer with a 70 million bid for Bruno, beating other clubs
I reckon he's typing it on an old type writer and re-enacting the scene of the guy typing at the start/end of 80's TV shows, the god damn ape. Probably some guff about how Fernandes doesn't fit our plan but we are going to poach Maddison in the summer because Sporting were shit at negotating with us and Leicester will be much easier to negotiate with. @elánius Pizzi plays a completely different role to Bruno. Compare Bruno to the Lisbon midfielders instead.
It's the foreign imports that make the Premier League as strong as it is. Writing off entire leagues, especially ones long established as just outside the top 5 in quality is a fools game.
And Sporting will ask for 90m. Ed decides to try to bargain the price and get him for 80m, deal done.

90% of this protest uproar and all that goes with it could have been avoided if the club made decisive moves early in this window and showed the fans they had some kind of plan. Some kind of idea what they were at and that they still wanted to invest in the best for the club during any given window. The absolute state of our team this month just shows how terribly on all levels we are being managed.

i think so too. It’s super frustrating. There are plenty of good players out there that any shrewd club could pick up and develop but we've basically spent 7 or more years going for the total wrong players, letting stonewall generational talents go to our rivals when they were potentially far far better than what we had or if we do go for the right ones it takes an age to identify and get a successful bid together the last few years. It’s all so painful! Surely as business guys they want to be known as running a slick business on all fronts. These are also business deals and our so called business geniuses are completely telegraphed before they even prepare (yuck) a bid. Good Players and agents must be laughing at us. Why would you come here when we mess up every season. It’s the gift that keeps giving the abus. It sets such a negative tone and makes us look so indecisive and stupid. We should have been ready to rock the day the window opened. It’s all so reactionary and it looks like fecking guess work at this stage, that’s how amateur it all is.

Pizzi plays different role for Benfica, ot's not apple-to-apple comparison. Benfica is different financial situation to Sporting and best believe they'll charge you through the nose for him. They got something like £115m for 19-yo Joao Felix. It's in their business model to buy cheap talents and sell for exorbitant fee once the hype is on.
Those questioning Bruno's career path need to understand that timing is HUGE for a football player. You can be a great player but once you make a move at the wrong timing, your already short career can get derailed and you might not get a chance to recover. I think Bruno is being level-headed by sticking with Sporting and biding his time. He's now 2x league's best player and on course to win the 3rd. He will get his big money move soon to the big boys and chance for UCL glory. And this will be in his prime years.
We all need to remember that Aubameyang got his big money move to Arsenal at 28-29. And he went on to win joint golden boot in that rather pedestrian Arsenal of recent years. And he's always in the mix for top scorer in PL.

For many the solution is just firing the manager. But you just cannot go into a season with the squad we had. With the the exception of Ander, the rest were fine to let go. But we needed replacements. Striker and at least two midfielders.
I really hope I’m wrong but I feel like we are going into a overly sensible financial mode and it's going to be as ineffective as throwing money about blindly as we are so far behind now. When a player who can improve your squad no questions is there you move fast and with purpose and get him settled into the team over the next season or 2. If we’d gone for say havertz, chiesa and any good young dm 2 seasons ago apart from being cheaper than they are now they’d also be totally ready to be main players for us by now. Everyone can see this standard of player would certainly improve us a lot and they are for sale. The players are there to compete. Go try everything to get them. Please Build a great team but hurry the feck up is what I’m trying to say.
On the other hand I can totally see us pinching penny’s and making reactive, unimaginative and drawn out transfers forever while we also really struggle on the pitch. Sigh.

I don’t know if you were following Sky at the start of the season but Sky were reporting that the signing of Milenkovic Savic was imminent and that is just one of a numerous amount of B/S stories they have run with.

Notice how not once in this saga did anyone from Sporting come out and say they want to keep the player, he is important for their season, they don't need to sell, etc.

It was logical what they did. Reduce wage expenses first. Then see what they have left to spend in view of the project reduction in revenues for the next couple of years or more.
Adding more players and then bloating up the wages further makes no sense in your scenario.
Cool. That sounds like a decent plan but I absolutely don’t trust Woodward to get it right anymore. And I don’t trust him to hire the right DOF either. He’s just very very bad at the football side.
It’s possible us haggling to the last second may actually be a good reputation. If a team needs funds to spend they may make a deal with us sooner rather than later.

Well as much as we all love to hate Woody, this Matt Judge fella seems to be the one doing most of the legwork in our deals.
listening to Castle's podcast, it sounds like Judge does the legwork and woodward has to sell it to the glazers to then secure the release of funds. When you have incompetence at every stage of the process, i guess that explains why it takes an entire transfer window to complete A signing.
Who appointed judge? Woodward. As a leader you are responsible for those under you. What we do not know is how much room for negotiations judge has. Maybe his hands are tied by Ed.
We sold young and we signed a PR guy.
If we don't sign anyone then the wheels are going to do more than just fall off. Hopefully this will be the year we get our club back.
