Good old Fernandes thread. Wasnt here for a week.

It reminds me a bit of myself when i cant be bothered to do unimportant stuff way before deadline and then rush things once deadline gets closer.

I think Ole is seriously out of depth but if that is indeed the case then the way he was treated is beyond disgusting. You can't just dismantle his side and then expect him to do well. Also keeping a squad so thin is dangerous. The manager will have no choice but to keep playing players till the point of exhaustion and past injury. That can ruin careers and would hit us in our pockets more then the rumoured 10m spent upon Fernandes

Because this shit show is Manchester United.
Quite a big name around the world when it comes to football and most managers would beg for the job especially the ones who are currently without a club.

Not sure the Glazers and Ed the horse haven't overseen such a massive devaluation of our name in such a short period of time to the extent that that question is in fact a very pertinent one.

I keep thinking it's more likely that he's better than I've seen, rather than him being as average as he looks, given United thought he was worth 70m and City were interested for big money too. But then I thought the same about Stones and I'm still a bit bemused that City paid so much and Chelsea were willing to do the same.

From what I've seen Albiol seems like a pretty good comparison unfortunately!

You're spot on but then again would you really be surprised? Woodward has been shocking at managing anything football related.

f- the club is hit with injuries and bad form due to fatigue. January transfers suddenly come but....the club start messing up on the January window too. Haaland ends up to Dortmund and the club is unwilling to pay too much for Fernandes. Woodward makes it clear that we won't be held at ransom. The manager is desperate as there's no way this squad can hit the targets set. The owners sensing that targets won't be reached decide to cut the losses and keep the money in the bank. Ole will get players but only if the price is right or through loan deals. If he succeeds than that's great. If he fails, well, he gets the sack and they'll 'back' the new manager.

Your last two comments are pretty much what I said yesterday, if he gets 4th (can't see that myself), or wins the EL, then he will stay, if he doesn't, then he's gone.

Originally both teams agreed on 55 million, after United learned that Sporting are in financial trouble they decided to lower their offer to 42 million. I dont think Sporting are being unprofessional i think United have been by lowering the offer which in my eyes is giant middle finger to Sporting.

It’s total bullshit though isn’t it. Why do people believe that United only found out Sporting were in financial difficulty a few days ago? And if we agreed a fee why didn’t we sign him?

Sporting have been whoring this player around Europe since the summer and are asking ridiculous money. Nobody is paying what they want. Not even close.

Yeah. His chocies are a bit limited right now, but come summer he might be able to choose:
  1. United
  2. Bayern
  3. Juve
  4. City
Obviously Pep is most likely ot stay, and Juve only comes available if Inter win Serie A and even then, Pep is touted, so there could be a big shuffle. United is the guaranteed choice and it might be available at the winter break.

Yeah they are considered the reliable source in Portugal but not going to take the word of the Daily Express Sports Editor as they aren't exactly known for telling the truth when it comes to transfers. I will wait until Sport Witness publish anything about this before deciding whether we still have slim hopes of making this deal happen in the next six days.
 
we pay more for a player then we have to, not less. the story about us agreeing a fee and then backtracking and offering less makes zero sense. player agreement in place, fee with the club agreement in place would be a done deal.
 
So the caf knew Sporting were in financial trouble since December but the board only found out a few days ago.

There is so much garbage in the media about this story and it is purely because even though our team is rubbish at the moment we are still the biggest show in town when it comes to a headline in the media.
My take on this deal is that if it is true that Spurs made an offer last season and Sporting knocked it back then we are offering probably a little bit more but because we are Manchester United Sporting want a lot more and that is the predicament. If no party budges then the next step is for Bruno to put in a transfer request and he may as well do that because I cannot see him being happy staying with Sporting if his heart is set on coming to Utd.
 
The glazers and Woodward are underestimating the scale of back lash from social media and match going fans, if they fail to add bruno to the squad this month, after a very public pursuit.

What will follow is very very obvious. Rashford is out for the season and pogba is out till March. We will get a few more injuries because players are being run into the ground and will continue to stumble down the table and out of the cups, with some absolute humiliations on the way.

It's time to collectively call the board on its bull shit or the club will become mid table before we even realize.

I don’t believe they ever really intended to buy him unless they could get him on the cheap, and I’m not even sure then. My guess was we were going to use Bruno as a way to show we had other options than Maddison / grealish

the board doesn’t care how we do, our sponsors aren’t based on success according to woody, ole is just happy to be there, it seems he’s been told it doesn’t matter as they believe in this vision (again I’m not convinced the board even believe that).

mole has stated it could take 3-5 years to get a team together. I don’t know why he thinks these young players will stay rotting here in the mean time
 
I knew about this clause back in the summer, so how is Ed just becoming aware of it now? Yet more incompetence

It’s not the first time it’s been talked about in the thread. In fact I mentioned it pages ago after reading it on sky sports website

Why is it beyond the realms of possibility? It’s not like united and other clubs haven’t done it before

Having a player agreement doesn’t mean that they will sign for that club
 
This is classic Ed. We're going to haggle right until the last minute and best-case scenario we save £4/5m

However, what's the impact of NOT having Fernandes available for our games in January? Had the chance that fell to Mata fell to Bruno against Burnley we would probably have gone 1-0 up and gone on to win the game...what's the value of those three points at the end of the season? Who knows?

This is why accountants should never, ever, ever be allowed to make strategic decisions. They are undoubtedly clever people in many respects but they know the price of everything and the value of nothing.
