Do you honestly believe Pogba is staying at United? We'll need a solid DM if we plan to use Pogba and Bruno in the same midfield.
Do you honestly believe Pogba is staying at United?
With tha kinda margin I wouldn't even call myself second@fergiesarmy1 You really are obsessed with Pogba! Had a quick look to see who posted the most in the performances thread, and what a big surprise, its you with a sickening 443 posts, with @kouroux second with 126.
Not hopeful by any means, but he's here until the end of the season and only out for the next 4 weeks or so apparently. I imagine they'll be playing together at some point this season, so it's a fair concern. Still feel like we need a playmaking #8 and a solid, defensive #6 more than someone like Bruno, but either the club have given up on keeping Pogba or Ole really wants to stick with our 4231, even if we've shown the best form in a 433.Do you honestly believe Pogba is staying at United?
I saw him in a pre-season match against bitter rivals Liverpool and I was impressed. Industrious, composed and his pressing, for a friendly, was rather insane.
He'll likely fail here.
Yes and no. He is definitely more a 10 then a 8 but he creates the "illusion" he is a 8 because his engine is insane and he drops back a lot. It is his style of play and he is a workhorse but he is no doubt the furthest forward of a 3 man midfield with Wendel at the #8 position and doumbia playing the #6.But he doesn't play as a pure 10 for Sporting. Actually, both he and Maddison play as number 8's in three man midfield. I just feel Fernandes has more of an engine than Maddison.
Alrighty so the reports coming from the motherland is that Varandas has been in England negotiating Bruno this week *Allegedly. There has been no name dropping of clubs as of yet but they just highlight a tweet in which Rio said "brunoooooo".
My opinion is he should leave. We need to blow this team up president included and we need money and fast. Bruno also deserved to move away, Sporting are not doing anything this season nor are they competing for anything. He is BY FAR the best player in the league and as I have said many other times he has all the tools needed to succeed in England. He has been his usually fantastic self and most if not all of our wins are directly thanks to him. You guys don't even understand how absolutely horrible Sporting are, they literally are worse than that season and that in itself is a shocker.
There have been some talks of Rojo being included but in my opinion that has to deal with the fact that he played for Sporting and nothing more. We do have an aging Mathieu who is likely to retire this season so a guy who knows the club and league would not be the worst deal I guess depending on the numbers. My opinion though is the Rojo talk is bollocks.
Alrighty now the main thing you guys care about. IN MY OPINION I am pretty confident you lot can get him for 45M, We need the money and the club is in no position to negotiate anything higher then that. I also believe their may have been a gentleman's agreement (once again this is my opinion) I believe that was agreed upon after his most recent contract renewal. His price peaked last summer and not because of his quality but rather because Sporting ended the seasons with two trophies and Bruno has an unprecedented season, The hype was in and that was the time to sell. The club this season are out of every major comp (practically) all before December and the hype is down because the club is losing AND they need the money. Anything this bullshit president says is a bluff He is there for the taking. The club needs to sell and the player is ready for the move.
Hope this somewhat helps guys, I have not been on the CAF as much because of work and life recently but I will give updates when I can

I have slowly lost the care on if we win or lose anymore. This president is like a plague sucking the life out of the club. Thanks @SportingCP96 . I think we talked about Bruno last Summer and you were getting across same point of view, good to see Bruno continue to shine with the performances this season too. I really really hope we sign him up. Also hoping that sporting president resigns soon. You guys deserve better.
Dont underestimate Varandas...the guy is a dumbass...whoops can I say that here? ahh feck itRight, so that's a cheeky 30mil bid from Dead Woodward with a possibility of actually signing him for 80.
How great is he in tight spaces? Is he one of those players who comes out of close spaces and difficult situations with the ball or is he more basic in this regard?Alrighty so the reports coming from the motherland is that Varandas has been in England negotiating Bruno this week *Allegedly. He is good in those situations he is no slouch BUT he also is not a Thiago type of player with close knit control in tight areas. How great is he in tight spaces? Is he one of those players who comes out of close spaces and difficult situations with the ball or is he more basic in this regard?
I know about his prowess in the final third of course.
I prefer a bag of shite in my doorstep then JesseAre we proposing lingard swap with bruno?
Jimenez flopped in that league but is thriving in PL. In fact, Wolves who consists of mostly players from that "inferior" league you refer to is only 1 point behind us in the league and is also a team that we have failed to beat or even match in multiple attempts.
Every single person who watches the Portuguese League thinks that he is the undisputed best player of the league, even fans from fierce rivals.

He is both the creator AND the goalscorer which says a lot about his quality AND the absolute lack of quality in the rest of this team.
I can see from the video that he likes shooting and seems to be pretty good at it, you've also said he has high stamina and presses well. Can I ask what his ability to spot and execute clever of difficult passes is like? And also combination/chain passing between himself and other team mates? He seems to be able to pull off intuitive tricks from a standing start that buy him some time and space, but what is he actually like on the dribble? Can he beat a man? men? And also, does he have end product (quality pass or shot) at the end of a dribble?Player breakdown?

Point being ?You didn't specify a time frame.
He's been playing with a bunch of training dummies around him for a while now, should be interesting how he performs with good players around him.
Seems like a desperate signing.
I'm saying this now - Fernandes will be another Mkhitaryan
We need hard workers. Grealish over Fernandes any day.
Failed or was instructed to pull the plug by his superiors? Not that that scenario makes it less depressingEd failed to deliver in the summer that’s probably the only explanation, I think the manager clearly wanted him since summer.
In almost all the Bruno Fernandes threads I have wrote extensive stuff about his playstyle and I would do it again but I am in the midst of writing something up for work as well but I will give you a quick run down.Hi,
anything from the below you wanna contribute to explaining would be of great assistance to me on a player I've not watched anything but a single youtube video of.

We're crying out for a press resistant #10 type who can hold onto the ball for a solid period before playing others in or opening up the field after drawing men to him and either beating them himself or passing straight through the lines, do you think he can do that sort of thing in the Premier League, or will his output struggle?
Youtube generally tells an incomplete story, and the defending and overall pressure in the vid is underwhelming, but he looks good regardless, I just wonder how much of it is transferable to a much more aggressive league where time on the ball in such a position is a lot less than it seems to be in Portugal.
Seems like a desperate signing.

Grealish could not tie Brunos shoes. But I get it he plays in the EPL so he is better?Seems like a desperate signing.

He usually picks up the ball from deep and brings it up the field then using his creativity to make the best chance. If buy hold up play you mean can he hold on to the ball a little longer until the appropriate run is made for him to release the ball then yes, if you mean hold up play as in what a striker or center forward usually do then no.Thanks @SportingCP96
I haven't kept any tabs on this player or his thread(s) so would have missed your posts.
One last question: what is his hold up play like? Can he keep the ball a period of time whilst others run past him and then release quality passes forward, or is he more likely to do something pro-active by himself and not wait for that to happen?
We badly need passing chains and then dependability as well as quality releasing of the ball through our midfield. If we could do that, the forwards can work on better off the ball running and our ability to break down deep-sitting teams would increase greatly.
In almost all the Bruno Fernandes threads I have wrote extensive stuff about his playstyle and I would do it again but I am in the midst of writing something up for work as well but I will give you a quick run down.
SHOOTING: he has unbelievable shooting with both his left and right foot he uses both power and precision (mostly power) and hits them from distance often and with good amounts of success
PASSING/VISION: He is the creator for Sporting and everything runs through him. His long passing and through balls are of high quality and his ability to make a pass before receiving the ball is very good as well. His teammates at times struggle to keep up with what he tries to do which says a lot about how shit Sporting are.
DRIBBLING: He can beat a man if he needs to or in tight spaces but this is NOT one of the traits you should be focused on when getting a player like Bruno. It is not something you really highlight about him as player.
STAMINA/LEADERSHIP: You get a natural born leader with Bruno and he very often the first to track back and go up and down the pitch. If he loses it you can bet your bottom dollar he will take it right back. If a teammate loses it he is the first to pull back. He has very high on field IQ which may explain why he says he hopes to be a coach one day.
ABILITY TO GET OUT OF TIGHT SPACES: Has no problem doing this and if the Portuguese league is a turn off for you he has done it in the CL vs Barcelona.
SETPIECES: Dam near automatic. World class penalty taker and his free kicks are brilliant as well scores a lot of them.
His vision passing and overall ability in the final third is of the best quality I have personally ever seen in Sporting.
