My point was, playing a 4-4-2 and 4-3-3 is similar.

A 4-4-2 will have 2 CM's of which one will sit and one attack. Similar to the 4-2-3-1 formation.

It would work if we go and dominate games, but if the manager decides we want to sit in all game, clearly doesnt work.
I mean this isn't even true

Formations are nowhere near as important as you make them out to be - it's not like fifa.

Man city played 442 like you described with Yaya sometimes playing like a free roaming striker from right midfield, but Leicester who play much more similar to us played Kante as a ball winner with Drinkwater as a fairly conservative playmaker who often stayed deeper.

Most teams who play 4231 these days defend in either 442 or 451 formations but some 3 forward formations obviously press with 3 or more when defending, but the formation is honestly not important. Tactics are.

Man Utd 3:0 Watford
He’s settled in pretty quickly it seems. Certainly not fazed by anything and some brilliant moments today.

Fabulous penalty today. Good debut goal. And an assist to Greenwood also counts.

Winning and taking the penalty in your third game is good sign. He seems like the right sort, irrespective of his actual performance - which was great.

What was it again that the media wrote? He wasn't signed in the summer because he "loses the ball too much"?

Transformed the team.

Different class. Tries the spectacular pass a little too often for my liking, but other than that a great performance.

Good thing we waited to see how those 4 months went.

For me he's the best signing we have made post Fergie. Finally money well spent in an absolute quality player playing a position we desperately needed a top player in.

He makes it a lot easier for Martial, Greenwood, James etc.
The different between him and Pereira, Lingard is clear, he’s miles better.

He really gives us something extra in that final third.

At long last, a player of that calibre.

Was very very good today. Looking like the player we have been missing. Can’t wait to see him with Pogba. In that first half he was linking well with the forwards, but couldn’t link with the midfielders as they were not in the same wavelength in the ball, and were overrun by the press. He and Pogba can play their way out of that press more often, and then link with the forwards which leads to more chances.

Awesome player, imagine how different things would be if we had got him in the summer.

Best performance so far. But it was Watford, let’s wait until the end of the season.

Some things didn't come off but his confidence and willingness to take the game on lifted the team I felt and he was always the most likely to create something, plus he took his penalty with the kind of ego you want to see.

Him and Pogba would be great against teams who park the bus

He's just great. Has such an impact on the game. Anyone heard from those that called him shit in the first game where he was also clearly good?

So far, so good - he's a class above what we have and seems to be raising the levels of those around him. Long may it continue!

Looks every bit the part both in terms of taking the ball on, making things happen and leadership quality. For the first time I couldn't care less if Pogba fecked off.
