...because:

  1. The refs are helping them on purpose, on their own, for some reason.
  2. FIFA is corrupt.
  3. FIFA is not corrupt but there will be protests and casualties if Brazil don't win so it makes sense to let them win.
  4. The refs are just crap/bottlers so they're favoring the home side.

I thought I should create this thread to debate all the conspiracy theories flying around in Brazil matchday threads. I can't believe the amount of people who actually believe that one of the four statements is true. Number 4 could be an influence here and there but to believe it is a constant thing is weird. I thought it is newbies only at first but it's everywhere on this forum.

Funny how pundits and commentators can't see any of that but people on here can. Anyway, debate or vent; I think this thread needs to exist.

Really? Against Chile?

Also today the ref is all around bad and super lenient. People are just choosing to see half of the story.
Neymar throws himself around all the time and keeps getting free kick and falls over with minimal contact. He needs to start getting booked. I absolutely despise him. He turns a competition that celebrates football into a diving competition.

So does Muller and Robben. I don't see conspiracy theories about Fifa/Refs wanting Germany and Netherlands to win it. Mistakes happen but people are making it sound like it is all intentional.

I started this thread to see if anyone actually believes refs are actively trying to help Brazil.

I'm glad that I didn't watched many games of this world cup due to work, and because the italian television, RAI, have not enough money to show all the games.

I suspect some people are not reading the OP. This is more about refs/conspiracy theories.

Don't agree with the OP, but some of the refereeing performances are awful.

The Netherlands will knock Brazil out and it will be a Germany/Netherlands final with Germany the winners.

Holland vs Brazil is only possible in the final

edit * how are u a newbie with 6k posts ?

I love this kid. Beaten to shit by those Brazilian twats all game and still manages to look by far the best player on the pitch.

Referee was poor tonight and spoiled the game.

I've envisaged a situation where they're in the final, get numerous favorable decisions from the referee to win the game unfairly. The losing team will be so pissed that they will walk of the pitch and not bother collecting their medals.

I have a strange mind

The way he refereed the first half meant the second half was going to be extremely hard to referee. He let consistent fouls go unpunished. The yellow card brandished for James just felt like the ref did a summary of tackles in his head, and decided it was time to bring another yellow out.

Unfortunately I do believe at LEAST one of those points is true...I HOPE it's just the 4th...but heh who knows.

I think Brazil's time is up. This is as far as they go. Germany would be too strong for them IMO.

Louie will win it, sorry Brazil, second place is nice too.

If only Pinilla scored that in the 120th minutes

Wait the Germany side that got outplayed by Ghana, Algeria and were poor against France after their goal will 100% beat Brazil?

Brazil have beaten 2 of the 3 toughest teams in the tournament apart form themselves.

To be fair, he is really, really weak.

Personally I think Brazil will win it, provided Neymar stays fit. They are one of the best international sides in football and they're playing every game in front of a fired up home crowd, in a climate that Travellers most of the European sides. The refs will naturally give them a lot of the 50-50 calls, and they'll play with spirit, if not finesse. They aren't exactly an awe-inspiring team to watch, but they clearly go into games with a defined tactical plan, are able to keep matches tight and have made the most of set-pieces.
