It's probably pure speculative bullshit. Even if it's not, it's almost certainly just another example of us demanding their players in part-exchange to muddy the waters and make it harder for them to get their hands on De Gea. That's what we did with Ramos, and it looks increasingly like it's worked.

If it's a straight case of Madrid offering money and us saying no, they can blame the situation on us and thus turn De Gea against us. The whole 'slave' thing. If we've made a viable counter-offer like 'ok, but we want Ramos as well', then it's easy to explain to De Gea that we're willing to let him go if that's what he wants, but that it's only reasonable to expect Madrid to play ball. Suddenly it looks like they don't want him quite as desperately as they've been claiming. They become the bad guys - or at least not the good guys any more - and that gives us more leverage in negotiations.

Imagining this rumour was true, look at the two players we've chosen to show 'interest' in. Their talismanic captain, not as good as he was and something of a liability on the pitch, but Mr Real Madrid, beloved of the fans, and the sort of player whose sale weakens Madrid's image as being all-powerful in the transfer market. And now a kid, whose departure should surely mean nothing to them if they really want De Gea... except that he's a really promising home-grown striker, which is something the Madrid fans have been gagging for for years. Again, his departure could actually really hit their reputation where they are vulnerable, with a fanbase who are envious of Barca's status as the 'home-grown' La Liga giants. These are deals that we can be fairly confident they aren't able to accept, but which we can sell to De Gea as proof that Madrid are as much to blame for the stalemate as we are.

Excellent post. I enjoyed reading that and it could actually hold some weight.

A player 95% of the Caf hasn't heard of; amazing, never thought I'd see this happening

And yet they will be experts by tomorrow morning once the Youtube clips are viewed. We had quite a few Romero experts in here using the same method apparently. :)

Always a full proof system using YouTube so I have no idea what you are going on about! Anyone would think you could put a few clips together and make anybody look good on YouTube...

Never seen it that way. This is very possible.

Never a 100%. Someone on the Caf will know something. Like @Raoul says, we'll have a few experts popping in soon.

Anyway back on topic. Even if he develops to be an outstanding player and we can offer him game time and he comes here, like several said, 5 years down the road, he's going back home.

But @Brightonian makes excellent points, never did consider that angle. Sneaky Woody!

:nervous: Who is he?
One of the big promises in academy, scores very easily.I think that Madrid would only accept a loan but never a permanent deal.He did the second part of preseason, after winning under 19 Euro with Asensio.Asensio has been loaned to Espanyol, probably Madrid will look for a easy loan in la liga including some mandatory clause to play minutes(Asensio has one).During the summer was said that he could stay to be Benzema substitute.I heard that theclub is looking for a medium level striker so would be too much competence for him.Like Odegaard he still have the body of a boy,United and Premier league could be tough, always supposing that a permanent deal will never be accepted,at least I wouldn't

Madrid will be laughing there cocks off .
Give him to us then when he's one of the best in the world they will buy him back off us !
(Or send mendes to his house with a bag of sweets to get him the gig to sign on with him then shaft us when he's 12 month left of his contract) !!

Oh what do I know ! Give me some Prozac and send me back to bed , this windows doing my head in and if I see another muller link im jumping off Barton bridge feck it

Next, we try for the guy that collects their cones after training!

Seems pretty random, probably designed with the purpose Brightonian proposed.

Little bit different given one is a youth team player in another country and the other is 28 and played in an international tournament last summer and this, both available to TV viewers the world over. Of course it might be better if we all just did like some folks and have our views dictated to us with the "manager is always right" mantra. :)

Plausible but surely we can tell De Gea that they just aren't matching our valuation? If they really wanted him, they would stump up the cash, he's under contract after all.

People might be turning their noses up at him but he's an actual monster, he'll be a brilliant striker in a few years, honestly he's a machine!

A buy back clause would be more or less guaranteed. Didn't they do the same with Morata ?

Don't know anything about this player, but if we are going to end up being Real Madrid's bitch (which looks likely), then we should have just been their bitch at the start of the transfer window. This would have given the team some time to get in a replacement. All that talk about standing up to Real will end up looking silly.

Yes. They still have a year left to exercise that clause. They did the same with Carvajal, but bought him already back after one season.
