Bluemoon goes into Meltdown

The next leg is going to be a massacre. Their defence has conceded more than ours this season in the league. 35 to 34 and considering how bad we are.

Jon Champion kept reiterating how this was a massive tie between two giants of the modern game; must’ve said it four times in the space of the first ten minutes of the game. It’s like he was handed a vetted script from City’s PR before the game. Stating, multiple times, that City are some (any) kind of giant, doesn’t make it so. That coupled with Shearer on commentary was enough for me to turn the volume down until things got interesting in the second half.

"We are still in it, I saw some improvement from us and enough to suggest we can get something at theirs.

Call me a dreamer if you will but we are Manchester City and we do what we want."

This has become one of the FASTEST total collapses by a super power since the Berlin Wall went down.

spend 200 mil to address the problems we’ve had all season. Don’t play any of em!

We are basically turning into a Tottenham Hotspur franchise.

Rico Lewis' a wank and should be nowhere near this team. Not one person on here can tell me what his ‘best’ position is.

He’s this sides Phil Neville.

Watch the Haaland penalty again, when he runs off in celebration and slides you could absolutely believe he's sliding in front of madrid fans.

still can't quite believe the atmosphere it's up there with the great slo mo of sterling peeling away in celebration of a key home title race winner in stoppage time as the camera pans past rows and rows of empty seats.

I did the same; but missed the good bit at the end

feckITY feck feck feck feckING feckITY feck
The first one who blames the banner. Is a ****
Why do we always give them such an expensive gift bag before they leave FFS
That fecking game management is inexcusable. feck me man cannot believe we’ve thrown that away. Wouldn’t even fecking bother turning up next week. Got zero chance. feckers
Shocked thought we looked like the old City than it all go's tits up.
Can I just say RM are a fecking horrible club and team
Well it wasn't good but we didn't get spanked and are still in the tie (just). Bigger shocks have happened in football than us going to their place and winning 3-1.
Awful substitutes. Manager has lost it and there's no getting around it.
Anyone really surprised? We are shit this season, injury prone, old and zero energy. Mentality has gone. Just need to grit and bear it. Get to the summer hopefully the recruitment is what need
Can't even be annoyed anymore, just accepted that this team can't hold on anymore
Lewis is a pathetic lightweight, Kusinov is a weapon . Terrible substitutions again
I think i need therapy after watching that game
I am feeling I am cursed or something
like if I watch the game, city loses
ABSOLUTE feckING CLOWN SHOW…
Too stunned to really react. Just no composure or any sense at all to say anything.

Newcastle, Madrid, Liverpool and Tottenham next.
Typical City!
We’ll turn them over next week.
...
Still stuff to play for in the second leg. Not totally out of it yet
With a Sunday league defense and Keeper? Haaland is too good for The Coach and Horses fc
This fecking season can’t end soon enough.
fecking injuries again. Jack and Akanji doing well and we were playing ok. Great goal by Haaland, Gvardiol looking superb.
Then the fecking injury curse again and we turn shit.
Huge rebuild needed in summer.
...
Football is cruel to us this season, but we are on the up, played the best we have for a good while against a top side, if we had held the lead and won the story on here would be a lot different.
This teams mentality in 12 months has gone from strong to non existent.
thank God they had a very hard Atletico game 3 days ago and they missed their best defense in Alaba, Rudiger, Militao, Carvajal line. and that we played at home.
Surprised Bellingham actually found the net. The most overrated player in Europe. Anonymous every time we play them.
Horrible way to lose a game conceding late on especially to Bellingham!!!!
Cringey banner, calamity defending, tourist heaven.

What a feckin shit show
at least no we can write champion league off and just focus on league secure top 4 hopefully
Spent millions in the window and got 6 minutes out of Marmoush.
Sloppy at the back but we put performance on there. A proper ding dong.
Confident for the second leg. We. Are. Capable.
Kev, Savinho, Lewis, Kovacic and Ederson all absolutely diabolical

Hurry up and put us out of our misery and let us focus on fourth and the FA Cup
Not the end of the world. No way were we winning this competition this year. Finishing top 4 in the league should be our priority…and let’s give the FA Cup a good go.
Why we spending 30 million on centre backs to bring on Rico Lewis. I’m fecking sick of this shit decision making all season.
This team is physically and mentally knackered. This season goes on a month longer than all other pl club ( apart from Chelsea )
Gonna be an interesting end of season review from Khaldoon…
Was lucky to only lose 3-2 in reality! The amount of chances they blazed over the bar was ridiculous! Still only half time but feck me its gonna be a long 90/120 mins in Madrid
It just had to be that **** scoring the winner after eddies gift.
They had a gazzilion injures and still had us pissing our pants at the end.
Kenny Cunningham and Shay Given saying we should sack the Keeper coach.
Karl Marx: “History repeats itself, first as tragedy, second as farce.”
...
Bollocks
I'm off to watch Jimmy Grimble
Good choice!
Back to I Am Pilgrim for me.
...
Never ever will City have a better manager than Guardiola. Never.

But this season....what happened to him? With every substitution he made, City got weaker and weaker. Again.

How long before results in the past are no longer enough to go on?
It’s a complicated situation this year but pep absolutely has not been at his best either
...
Soon as Lewis came on I slapped a fiver on Madrid.
I'm so pissed off but love City humour!!
...
What must Haaland be thinking !!
Number of goals he scores is pretty impressive given what's behind him. Grealish was the only one who could give him a through ball and he went off injured.
...
Win by a goal in Spain and go through on pens?
Well we'd have to score about 4 goals or so because they'll get at least another 3 next game
...
Outplayed for large parts, the away leg will be at least 4, play any fecker who can run
Very true. We rode our luck massively throughout the game and on another night could easily of lost that by 3/4 goals. First time we’ve played Madrid in the last 6/7 years where we looked like a far inferior side trying to grab a result.
...
And I'll be in the minority but that banner was a fecking joke. Asking for karma; no need to lower ourselves to their level.
Yeah that caused the 2 brainfarts.

Jesus wept.
Didn't say it caused it, did I? I said it was pathetic, and it was....
...
The weak mentality of that entire squad is baffling.
From what we were to this is staggering.
...
I think Pep will leave after the club world cup, this season must be stressing him to feck and there's still a lot more shit to come
He can leave. I’m on a life sentence
...
To summarize: Is Ederson on drugs?
I'm starting to wonder if he is on the take.

His 'mistakes' are carbon copies of the same ones he did at the swamp a few years ago.

Just rewatching the highlights, and even a 2-3 defeat really flatters City. Madrid probably should have scored five, and the penalty was a complete gift.

BBC had some article trying to fabricate some modern rivalry between them.

Perhaps it's just Pep vs Madrid but it all seems contrived for the state club.

Totally. City looked OK in the first half, but in my opinion that was a result of how Madrid play, they will sit off at times and let teams have the ball to try and spring quick counters.

They can switch to doing more with possession when they need to as well, which they did more in the second half and it made City look more like the level they are actually at.

It's not a coincidence that they don't look great for large spells in games but more often than not create loads of chances and win the game.

That Rhodri banner was so small time.

Not very humble indeed, Rodri loving it and taking pictures. City have 1 CL title, R Madrid 15 including 6 in the last 10 years, not sure Madrid are crying that much. In fact that makes it 1 to 15 or 115 side by side

Think it was Guillem Ballbag that wrote that shitpiece.

Ridiculous pile of crap.

We make fun of Utd blowing money

We wasted a quarter of billion pounds in January on players who aren't good enough to get into THIS team

Just think about that
They are good enough to get into the team though, what a stupid statement.
Get back to rag café
...
180 million spent in Jan and he is still bringing on a championship level Lewis and past it Mr Whippy.
I'm lost for words too. I need somebody to explain this to me.
...
Let's got honest guys we are a team in transition let's get over it well beaten tonight if we're all honest could have been a lot more summer coming more fullbacks young legs in midfield and we'll be back again
This transition stuff is wank ...

Peps not transitioning it... hes using the same fecking tired broken team week in week out .......

Transitioning to what exactly ..

Hes sleepwalking into missing out on top 4...
...
Hart

Khusanov Stones Dias Gvardiol

Nico

Foden Marmoush

Savinho Haaland Doku

This at the Bernabeu, just attack and press them with pace and energy.
...
We have to beat Newcastle first, if we lose that then I really fear for us in Madrid
& Plymouth
...
Tactics.
Formations.. ect..

If players are fecked move them on.
If players are tired on 60 sub em..

If the oppo are cutting through us change it tactically..

If your asking my opinion peps fault.

He's too feckin stubborn.
Teams have moved on tactically and he won't.
Tactics and playing style have evolved. Pep hasn't.
...
It’s not a coincidence that our most fecking stupid players are on the pitch at the end of the game when we throw it away.
I’d love to put you and those ‘stupid players’ in a room and watch you say that, you utter ****. You’d wilt into a boiled leaf of cabbage. But crack on, online.
...
Madrid were more pish at the back than us.

If we can score first at the Bernabeu then anything
Yes, they’ll score 4…
...
Let's be honest.
Madrid could have had a few more.
We got lucky they didn't.
Apart from their Rooney shinner...
But it did go in didn't it.
...
And what about Nico and Marmoush . 140 mil alone . Panic buys . Money wasted .
And you’ve concluded this after how many games?
...
No blame on the ref though he was excellent never thought I'd say that!!!
No blame for the result but how the feck did Bellingham not get booked?
Cos he can do no wrong

Same reason he’s being lauded by the media this morning, when in fact he was pretty much anonymous
...
since we won the CL in 2023, we've played Arsenal 4 times, Madrid 3 times, Liverpool 3 times (biggest teams we've played and have not won once)
Total inability to manage a game out with 10 minutes to go.....how many times has that happened in games this season?
Keep shooting ourselves in the foot.
Looked like we would lose the minute lewis come on unfortunately. 2 years of sub par recruitment has left us chasing the better teams.
Feel so bad for haaland. Guy needs to score 4 every week for us to be in with a chance of winning a game.
we’ve got injuries but we have to question Peps team choice & substitutions

Game management has been piss poor all season…….
Smart move by Ancelotti to sub Bellingham on in the 92nd minute
Starting to remind me of Arsenal under Wenger and his last 2 years ..
Pep truly sees things that we mortals just don't.
And our proud 6 year unbeaten run at home gone too.
I hope Dias gets closer to Maya Jama than he did to Bellingham at their winner
Peps loyalty to the Dad's Army is killing us. Another game where it played out before our eyes.
Time to do a RM on RM in Spain.

Fly Tuesday, win or lose on the fecking booze.

We are City, we love lager, taking over Bratislava.
No way will we beat Real Madrid away. We barely beat Orient.
This was Madrid we were playing. We've shown we can fook it up against shite like the rags. I honestly think we will be ok.
I used to find Real Madrid fans waving their snotrags in the air after a few bad results utterly pathetic. Please don't let us become that.
This is how it feels to be United.
I'm old fart and I've experienced the bad times, but I've dined at the top table these last 15 years, I've grown accustomed to it, not entitled, but I've enjoyed it immensely.

But right now I want this season to end, I really do.
The saddest part is our kun will be walking tilted on one side only due to disbalanced weight and mystery of gravitational pull
That banner was a bit silly and now Vini and the media are rubbing it in. I hate when fans put up silly banners targeted at players, it just never ends well
pulled some rag n dippers out of their slumber

oh hang on just seen next season could be worse thread
Brainfart FC
Impressed with Brahim Diaz showing our club some respect after scoring. Good to see.
...
For all Madrid's youthful megabucks players and all their attempts on goal, they scored two goals courtesy of special gifts. Even then, Mbappe miskicked.
Very true
...
Question: if we exit at this stage, do we drop down to the Europa league?
nope. That particular avenue of pleasure has been closed off.
...
When you see how well Alvarez is doing at Athletico you have to say Pep made a massive mistake binning a very useful player and not bothering his arse for 6 months to replace him
Can probably pick a couple in the current squad who are going to end up the same…
...
Anyone still on prime, the crouch documentary is a watch.
Not for me.
Can’t stand the haunted pencil.
...
What’s Catalan for ‘the Spanish Frank Clark’?
Is it too soon to crack a joke photoshopping Pep onto that horrible scouse poster asking "how am I doing boss?" with Alan Ball above him?
...
Been saying it for a long time, all these strong teams atm in europe are not relying on striker to score every goal.barca ,real, liverpool etc have great wingers who score and create a lot.
We’re a 1 trick pony. And everyone knows it. Far too predictable. We need various goal threats.

Grealish/Bernardo have to go for me
...
Onto the FA Cup and top 4 in my eyes. Not good enough this season to win this competition, too many teams better than us.
Give me a FA cup semi-final and CL football next season and I'll happily move on with my life.
Well you can feck right off with that. Someone with a fecking brain !! Well said BB and seriously I`ll be well made up with that scenario mate.
...
The board and Khaldoon have to answer some tough questions this year.

It's natural for a team of our caliber to go through a transition period, as players cycle in and out.

What has been unacceptable was the fact that you went into this season with no cover in midfield with an aging squad, selling players like Alvarez and not bringing in a replacement nor even making a real attempt to.

Since the treble the signings have been projects and panic signings and they have not bought quality ready-to-go players since the treble season. That policy has to change this summer, and they need to do it fast so the players get pre-seasons and get up to speed quickly.
Hard to disagree with that. The men upstairs have rested on their laurels. They have strained every ounce out of the formidable team with the likes of Walker, Gundo, Kev, Bernie, Stones. And now the chickens are coming home to roost.

Instead of signing stellar players to compliment that squad and introduce them over a period, we find ourselves in this shit state of affairs which now needs a massive overhaul.

Absolute joke how a club that was selling it's club shop to balance the books 20 years ago, propelled itself to the absolute top of European and world football within 18 years, and now finds itself in the state it is in.
Pep said no. Khaldoon isn’t going to sign players if hes told theres no need. If pep wanted players, we’d have got them. This is on pep and txiki.
...
We are still in it!
We are Schrodingers football team. Out of the competition but also still in the competition...
...
Just think
Palmer,
Lavia,
Olise

We sold them but kept Lewis.

I don’t even know what lewis is.
Is he a full back, a central midfielder, a holding midfielder?
He's a boxer isn't he? Not a fukin footballer that's for certain.

Needs to be removed from the squad permanently. Sold, moved on, contract terminated, given cleaning duties - as far from the field as humanly possible.
...
Remember years ago when UTD were good. We/I would mock some of their youth players for not being good enough. They played well because of the class around them and the system.

Then AF would sell them to West Brom or somewhere and they would look ordinary - Wes Brown, Cleverly, Welbeck for eg.

That was because they were system players which looked great when the system was working - they wasn't actual quality themselves however - that is Lewis.

When the system is working then he could slot in, but trying to actually hold down a position for himself when the system wobbles highlights where his actual skill set is - that of a Wycombe Wanderers level.
Spot on. Not a great player, unfortunately. Not his fault.

AF?

Alcoholic fecker?
Alex Ferguson. He'll never be a 'Sir' in my book.
Ok, I get that. Some people have sensibilities, commendable characteristic, I imagine.

How would you feel about always referring to him as " AF " in future (always the pronounced letters, even when spoken), you can tell people (if you'd need to lie, I wouldn't:) it's for <<what you wrote>>, when secretly in your head telling yourself it's for "ALCOHOLIC F***ER" ?

I'd just feel better, you know(?)

Would saying PLEASE help? :)
I had absolutely no idea what you are waffling about.

I was like that after my first pint, you get used to it after a while.

I noticed that too. I think I saw a half dozen applauding and the rest standing still like statues. I thought it was Madrid fans as well, but there was hardly any movement. It almost had a fake crowd Covid feel to it.

"This is how it feels to be United".
I sometimes think that City fans think how football started 10 years ago and everything before that doesn't exist.

Did they mention how between both clubs there are 16 UCL titles?

To be fair that's a reasonable comparison. Being dominant for years and suddenly dropping off? Sounds familiar. This is their Moyes season.

Sure United dominated for longer, but looking at this in isolation it makes sense.

It is not reasonable. You are now following their logic. Football didn't start 10 or 15 years ago. Regarding reputation, trophies, history etc....they are still tiers bellow United (and all other giant clubs).

Just 15 years ago they were mediocre club with mediocre history. They are still far away from being in big boys club so any comparison with Pool, United, Inter, Juve, Barca etc.....is just embarrassing.
