Bet Your House On One of Our Summer Signings

Would go with Zirkzee for this. He looked really special early in his career and I think he'll be great for us in time.

Yoro and De Ligt will compete against one another so those two are the most risky. Mazzy would be a homerun. He's basically competing for two spots against Dalot. Unfortunately his injury record is concerning. Zirkzee is tailormade for our squad. He drops deep, he's technically gifted, he's hardworking and he will create chances for the likes of Garnacho and Rashy to go. However you can't really discount Hojlund either. Thus I think that the safest bet is Ugarte. The Uruguayan will walk into first team as Casemiro is on the wane, Collyer is still too young and we need Mainoo as a no 8. He's also the type of player the local fans will love.

That's a reasonable thing to think. I also wonder why Bayern sold him.

But at least he has had spells at Ajax, Juventus and Bayern where he was top class, if not always consistently. I've seen him in games for all three clubs where he's been absolutely magnificent. There's a reason why nearly 70 000 Bayern fans signed a petition to keep him. He was also probably one of their most sellable assets to accrue some funds. So the reason he was sold could be financially motivated.

So by that logic, it feels like the safest bet to make out of all our new signings, which is your premise.

Yoro isn't a safe bet. But if he realizes his potential - which again, most players don't, not even the biggest talents - then that is a massive payoff. The list of amazing talents that never hit their potential due to either arrested development or injury is ridiculously long. Even within our own academy, not to mention the rest of the world.

So if the premise was who would I take a risky bet on, it would probably be Yoro (or Mazraoui, tbf, I think he looks outstanding).

Talking about spells at Ajax, remind me of VDB, Antony, and even our good old ETH as well. Good thing about De Ligt is that he is still young, and not too expensive. But again, if he is not good enough for BM, at least not good enough to be retained at any price, don't expect too much. But a regular 6-7 is a good signing to me, our standard is really low nowadays.
