Charlton and Whiteside???????? Strikers????

Well Norman did start his career as a striker. On that basis and seeing that Charlton is included I'm a little suprised not to see the Ginger Prince amongst the selections, nor the previous Ginger haired striker!! I'll let you lot decide who I mean, but the stupid bloody manager made a mistake getting rid of him at the time.

There wasn't any more room - and Scholes would never have received enough votes in this category to make it worthwhile.

And Whiteside wouldn't have got a mention at all if he hadn't been included here.

It would be a lot easier if players didn't keep changing position. ;)

The original King has to be first name on the teamsheet. Denis was just fantastic.

Both Jordan and Pearson would have been great foils for the Lawman. Sparky was actually a very similar player, people don't realise how strong and physical Denis was, he looks so slight but he was like a bull when he was on the ball. Ruud's goalscoring record is superb, Ole's a legend... but even an old git like me can't ignore Eric's contribution to United's revival under Sir Alex.

So up front for me it's The King and Le Roi!

Those who saw him play know that King Denis has been our very best striking inside-forward. I'm tempted to partner him alongside a more traditional centre forward, such as Sparky or Pancho, but Eric was an inteligent enough player to adapt his game to work with the lawman. So Le Roi Eric it is for me.

So can we include him on the Subs bench then? Even if he doesn't get the votes? I'm sure as hell would have him on any bench with Ole. Now them two could change a game in a flash, no matter what's going on.

Tough tough call this one :(

I based my decision on who I thought would make the best partnership. Whilst I loved watching Hughes, and Sir Bobby and the Lawman were undoubted world class talents.....

I went with Ruud and Cantona. Cantona to unlock the defences and Ruud the comsumate poacher. AND baring in mind we're picking a team to conquer in todays game, with its increased athletic requirements etc.

On any other given day I could easily pick two others, but I'll stick with those two.

I voted for Ruud and Cantona but it was a close call. I have always admire Hughes Cole and Yorke so those five I will never forget

I did not voted for Law because he played for City and he relegated us.

i) Denis didn't relegate us. We were already down
ii) He didn't want to go back to Citeh. That cnut Docherty sold him, despite reassurng Denis to the contrary
iii) Denis didn't celebrate, but walked straight off the field, head hung down, and ended his club career there and then.

A legend and a hero who was a major player in one of the most glorious chapters of our history.

We'd have been relegated anyway.

What do you think Law should have done as a professional then?

He behaved impeccably I would say.

You really need better reasons not to vote for someone.

Law and Cantona. Denis was recognised by many as the best player in the world for a period in the mid-60's - that sets the standard, and means that along with Schmeichel, Best, and Charlton his should be one of the first names on this team sheet. At this level whoever plays with him up front has also to be world class, and capable of magic ; Cantona alongsides, Charlton in midfield, leaving Hughes and Ole on the bench.

Had to go for Eric and Ruud (purely because of goal scoring record).

Pity we couldn't vote for Tommy Taylor - the ultimate goal scorer.

Just noticed Teddy isn't in the list - any reason for he had afterall been involved in our Treble Season and I'd have thought he might have been worth a mention...

How can I put this.

Bugger.

Anyone who would have voted for Teddy can say so, and I'll include them.

Are we going to do a bench????

I think the poll runners up will be the bench. Yes? No?

First of all there should be only 5 subs. I think that you should put the 2 people from each poll that just failed and then we can have a vote and decide on the team.

OK, sounds good. :)
