Ohhhhh go on, you can come and visit me in the Old People's Home, you'll have a great time, it's flower arranging today.

If you can't come round today, pop round tomorrow, we've got a really good talk on ''What To Do When Your Incontinence Bag Splits!'' I've been looking forward to that one! ;)

Irwin was unbelievably consistent, I dont remember him ever having a bad game. But if I had to choose who I would prefer to watch in an all-time united 11 I have to go for Heinze. I love watching him play, his full-throttle attitude is unbelievable, his ferocity on the park, his relish for the battle, its just brilliant to see. I imagine opposing wingers absolutely hate having to face him.

The best moment In last weeks Benfica game for me was when Heinze put the winger on his backside, then roared at him for going down easy, then roared at the linesman for flagging it as a foul, then roared at the referee for awarding the free. About twenty seconds later, he put the winger on his arse again. Magic.

Wow, just doubled my post count. I had best go have a lie down.

Er - wasn't Forsyth a right-back?

Love the fact that you have Blackmore on your list - why not stick Lee Martin on it as well.

It has to be Heinze. The others are too old.

You think it would make a difference to the result? :)

Him indoors tells me that Alex Forsyth was actually a right back?

I did it for Baz. :)

As for Forsyth - I looked him up and it said left back. Then after t'other half stuck his oar in, I looked somewhere else which said he was either. So I'll chuck him in with the right backs too.

I looked him up (being a younger fan) one site said he was a right back and another said he was a left back.

Unfortunately, there aren't enough oldies on here to make it a "proper" vote.

I'm sure there's no question that a lot of the Busby Babes team should win hands down. But people who haven't seen them won't vote for them. I thought it best not to include them, rather than see names like Byrne, Edwards, Taylor etc. languishing near the bottom of the poll for that reason.

Fair enough. I voted for Dennis, just ahead of Tony Dunne. Without doubt, those two have been our best over the last 40 years. For interest sake only, I would put Roger Byrne ahead of both. Alex Forsyth was a right back by the way.

I find this quite tricky, Tony Dunne's a legend, Arthur Albiston was a great player. But Irwin gets the nod!

Irwin by far the best - Arthur Albiston wasn't too bad either, playing for United for over a decade and for more than 480 games.

Denis Irwin, without a doubt.

Versatile enough to play either flanks, consistent, strong defensively, good reading of the game, gets forward well, crosses well, and weighs in with a mean freekick.

Not much more you could ask for, really.

I possibly should have had Stewart Houston in this section?

But he wouldn't have won.

I chose Heinze because eventually i think he will surpass Irwin (hope)

I bet he doesn't... though I also hope you are right.

Irwin for me in my lifetime. Saw Albiston, Blackmore, Gibson, Irwin, mikky and Heinze in my time that I remember.

Denis is hands down the best out of those.

This was quite a hard vote. Gabby has the potential but is nowhere near the best yet. Arthur Albiston was superb and like Irwin just quietly did a good job week after week, but Denis Irwin was the more complete left back. He could tackle, he was commited, he could run fast and throw in an accurate cross at the end of it. He could score goals, free kicks and penalties. Jeeze! its a no brainer. Denis it is by a country mile.

Had to be Denis for me but I love Gabby to bits and think that if he stays healthy he could become one of the greats. I also liked Arthur Albiston a lot too. Gracious guy who offered Alex Forsyth his FA cup winners medal when Alex couldn't play because of a broken leg.

No Doubt!!

Denis Irwin without a doubt

I still miss him. I miss his crosses, I miss his penatlies and I miss his defencive play. Long live Denis Irwin
