Best sporting weekend ever?

I have weekends that good 3 times a week.

I don't think he's being serious as it being the best weekend ever....I mean a premiership game barely into the season, a group stage victory over Australia....impressive stuff...but yeah, I doubt he's 100% serious -_-

Obviously a great weekend all round for Pogue though mind you.

Wasn't there a near perfect week a while back as a United and British sports fan where we won in Europe midweek, then at the weekend while Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea all lost and a few other events happened but I can't remember what they were, something like Hamilton winning at Silverstone, Murray beating Federer.

Anyone?

I'm absolutely stoked about that GAA result tbf....Or I might be when I find out what it is.

Gay Autobot Athletics?....Greek Aquatic Arm-wrestling?...Girly Airborne Aerobics?

Hamilton and Murray winning would never feature in my perfect sporting weekend.

My NRL rugby league team were sitting top of the league and Manchester United were top of the league.

May 2008

Brilliant weekend.

It was a pretty active weekend of sport to be fair, hardly call it high class. But it came thick and fast:

UFC FN 25
GAA Final
United game
Mayweather fight

It probably does if you're a Spanish Catalunyan Tennis, Cycling and Basketball enthusiast where you're the best in Europe or the World at a number of genuinely cool sports.....and cycling.

Well it might, if they racked up significant victories in all those sports on the same weekend as Barca winning a Classico.

Which is the kind of example I'm looking for. Do you have a specific weekend's results in mind?

Well there's bound to be thousands isn't there? It all depends on what individual sports you like and who you support. I'd wager every weekend someone's football results all went the right way, and someone they were rooting for won in something else they liked. Weekends are usually full of sport, and if you like Rugby and F1 and something else that happens every weekend then the possibility of 3 things going your way aren't too staggering.

If Ireland had won 3 international things independently I'd consider that a fantastic sporting weekend for the Irish, but a club team winning something in an Ireland only competition, and Man United winning their home game aren't exactly a correlation of majestic sporting phenomena.

I'd imagine the period in which Athletico won the Europa, Spain won the WC and Nadal won Wimbledon was a specifically unique sporting "couple of weeks" for thousands of Spaniards..but if you're limiting it to a weekend, and me personally, probably not, because I don't really care too much about many other sports. I got laid twice this weekend though so it trumps anything that could have possibly happened in the Greco-Armenian Aikido.

There can't be that many. The context of Dublin's win yesterday approached the 92 premiership for United and I'm not a huge rugby fan but I think that was the first time we beat them at a world cup (or maybe at all). The premiership results could really only have been bettered by a city loss. So even without the rugger making a big impact it was a great set of results.

It must be up there with the weekend I scored a goal and then saved a peno after I had to go in goal after our keeper got sent off. Admittedly I conceded five goals in half an hour in what is still regarded as one of the worst goalkeeping performances ever to grace the Carlow/Kilkenny league, but I feel it's one for the ages.

Was a very good one for me:

United beat Chelsea
Falcons beat Eagle in prime-time
Mayweather punks Ortiz

I once scored the winning goal in a school match on my birthday, after a Giggs-like mazy dribble, and got a kiss off Layla Harvey, this really fit girl at school because of it..And then United thrashed someone the next day. That easily tops the egg chasing and German Airfix Acrobatics in my book.

Layla Harvey's a slag.

Yeah man, we held hands and everything...But then she went and kissed Keith Pigeon the next week and I was well gutted. fecking bitch. I should've spat in her raisins.

He had a bowl too. He's the one right at the front next to me in that retarded primary school picture. Judas cnut. Sounded like Danny Dyer too. Well, what Danny Dyer probably sounded like when he was 9.

Incidentally, I've just tried to facebook Keith Pigeon, and gotten these..

All these people are called Keith Pigeon...What kind of world do we live in?

One of them even attracts pigeons...The other one just wanders around leaving dirty hand prints on jets.

They're advertising their weakness though. If I was in some sort of war situation on the ground with a surface-to-air missile his would be the plane I shoot at.

Plus it's just really dirty.

Tennis is pretty cool though Spoons. It's better than bodybuilding.

I'm old enough to have seen Boris Becker win Wimbledon at the ginger age of 17. I know my tennis....and it wasn't as gay back then.
