Best Possible Ever World XI

Has to be sometime around 88-89 so you still get peak Maradona but also Maldini, while getting the Milan derby lot.

You can add Francescoli, a still very good Littbarski, Robbo, Barnes...

Most of the great 80s keepers were on the wane and the likes of Taffarel only starting to come through. Probably Preud'homme.

-------------Preud'homme
Brehme-Kohler-Baresi-Maldini
----------Matthäus-Rijkaard
---Gullit----Maradona--Francescoli
----------------van Basten

Subs: Taffarel, Amoros, De León, Ruggeri, Robson, L. Álvarez, Valderrama, Silas, Littbarski, Sánchez, Sosa

Not the best ever but I would love to have seen this in '99. Assymetric 4231 - Rivaldo as a left forward than left winger.

...............Batistuta..............
Rivaldo....Zidane....Figo.....
.........Keane....Redondo.....
R.Carlos..Maldini.Stam..Cafu
.................Kahn........................

I think 57 would be even better with ADS as false 9.

Gento................ADS.....................Garrincha.............
...........Puskas.............Kopa...........................
...........Edwards...........Zito..........................
....Nilton.........Santamaria.....Djalma
........................Yashin.........................

You surely need to replace Kopa with Koscis if you want to build a team with Gento and Garrincha

Yeah, that's fair. Going with more of a Magyar theme Duncan could be switched out for Bozsik.
Zito, surely. Tactically he's great but he's not Duncan's equal in any way.

Edwards & Bozsik is a perfect pair for the base of a proactive WM and they do tend to operate in different channels (Edwards preferred left side while Bozsik more or less always played on the right side).

Agreed. That 1957 lineup with Koscis/Bozsik might be my winner for this thread. Should have a poll really.

Heh, Matthaus, Rijkaard and Maradona

In all these years, has anyone built a team with that midfield in drafts?

I was thinking Bozsik would prefer a DM rather than a B2B but I can your suggestion working
