Best Front Twos of All-Time

Pele/Garrincha - not exactly front two but still.
Romario/Bebeto
Ronaldo/Romario
Di Stefano/Puskas.
Mbappe + some unknown french in 2026.
 
Cole/Yorke and Bergkamp/Henry come to mind for the PL. Striking partnerships haven’t been fashionable for a while.
 
Bergkamp was overrated. Cole and Yorke 99 was as good a partnership you're ever likely to see
 
Cole and Yorke were almost telepathic.

Only for a couple of seasons but Totti and Batistuta were fantastic together. Especially the year they won the Scudetto together. :drool:
 
Surprised nobody has mentioned Keane/Berbatov. If I remember right they scored nearly a 100 goals in a couple seasons.

Raul and Morientes was a nice partnership too. So efficient.

I really rated them. They had an amazing understanding that you can't teach because it simply can't be taught.

Far from the best, but Džeko + Grafite was an exciting pairing for Wolfsburg when they won the Bundesliga in 2009. Pretty rare for two strikers from the same team to finish as the Top 2 scorers in a top league:

Also, Van Nistelrooy and the underrated Luc Nilis for PSV in 1999 - when they scored 55 league goals. Nilis also had a great partnership with Fenômeno at PSV:
"I played together with big football players, like Figo, Romario, Zidane, Rivaldo, Djorkaeff and Raul, but it worked best with Luc Nilis, with whom I played at PSV", Ronaldo said.

Nilis and Ronaldo formed a duo at PSV between 1994 and 1996."Nilis put me in the best position to score and was always very generous, and he took the ball without any problems."

imagine living in Holland during the 80s / early 90s like I did and it hitting you when he announced it. Never been so gutted before, plus I was in the states in '94 so was looking forward to getting some Holland tickets and watching my idol during a WC.

Last game played I believe was when he was 28, so that's like us not having the enjoyment of seeing Ronaldo for the last 3 years and thus knowing he was world class but always wondering what he'd have done in those years left.

Tony Adams said he was "the best he ever faced". With absolute respect to Gullit, he wasnt a patch on Van Basten either.

They were absolutely woeful together, hardly ever passed to each other. Don't let that Vila goal cloud your judgement

They beat the record of Gerd + Uli (53) with this. Müller and Lewy were ahead of both partnerships with some goals 2 seasons ago until Pep started to rotate and Müller played less as a hanging striker in the recent weeks of that season. At the end they had 50 - I am pretty sure that they would have beaten it especially as Lewy thrives having a partner. But the partnership from Grafite and Dzeko is in this special that it did not have a dominant partner, maybe because of the system, too, in which they played with Misimovic behind them. Usually you have two players that are different from each other in that partnerships. But it probably has to do a lot with the system you play in and how you emphasize on the strengths of different players.
 
Best in England would have to be Rush/Dalglish, by some distance aswell

Used to love Romario/Bebeto aswell. The sheer talent between them two
 
It is unfortunate that football evolved to one- man striker.For me in a sense it is a digression.
 
@harms we won the league didn't we? If we're talking one season wonders then why not Rooney and RVP, who cares if they passed once to each other in one match? That might be why they worked as well mate. Not every partnership needs to pass 20 passes together like Arsenal does to be effective. Win the league the way we did against a chelsea etc when people are shouting about Ronaldo / Nilis in a dutch league what have, you not?

As for @Moby, great contribution from a giant **** as per usual

Definitely not you are correct. He had a tough time in Italy but was immense for Arsenal & his goal for Holland against Argentina was one of my all time faves. Sublime technique.

Well, we're talking about great partnerships — they weren't one. They were still good enough individually to win us the league, but together they were less then sum of their parts.

They weren't so good, although tbf they were both on the decline that season and with Moyes in charge. Rooney even in last Fergie year when we won EPL.
 
I prefer the old school.

Pele and Garincha were beasts.
Then there was Kenny Dalglish and Ian Rush who ruled in the 80s. Those two were absolutely ruthless in attack.
I liked Ronaldo and Rivaldo too.
More recently, one has to mention Cristiano and Rooney too. Henry and Bergkamp was incredible as was Adriano and Zlatan.
 
Trying to think of one in the current era but not that many teams now play with two strikers up front together.
It seems to be now more of an attacking midfielder and striker partnerships evolving.
 
Has nothing to do with the best ever, but one of my favourites was Tomasson/van Hooijdonck at Feyenoord in 2001/2002. Two absolutely slick players, pity it only lasted for one season.
