Best Badges / Crests in football

I hope not, but possibly. Which, for Atlanta it would suck, but for the status of the MLS, it would be a big deal.

I think MLS sides should look at doing this more often. Cultivating young south American talents who perhaps aren't quite ready to make the big move yet.

It's all good for the MLS I agree. Definite improvement.

Bayern's is one of my favourites. Think it looks great on the shirts and somehow looks German.

This Juventus logo should be brought back..

This one.. On top the Shankly Gates as a reference to Shankly, Anfield & YAWN. The full name of the club. The historic liverbird. The eternal flames in memory of the victims from Hillsborough on the sides, and the birth of the club below. So many historic symbols in that crest.

I know.. You don't like it. But is there a crest with more history in it?

We are after cool crests, not the contents of the history drop down on your teams wikipedia page.

And it's in green for Celtic, that's great.

Someone posted the Arsenal badge before, I'm not a graphic designer but I've always thought the name should be written in capital letters? It looks way better and has a more official feel to it I guess. That's why I don't really rate their badge but I like the cannon, great symbol for a football club

Ah. Didn’t know that. Monitor and printer technology has advanced a lot since then though, so I wouldn’t have thought it would still be an issue.

I don't think it's a problem modern technology can really solve unless printers that can print in gold leaf or something become ubiquitous. Besides the powers that be at the club obviously like the badge and have spent a long time building up a recognition between that and the club.

Well, German militarism. They dropped red white and black after both world wars, replacing the white with yellow.

I highly doubt the United badge has Yellow/Gold in it as a way to distance it from Nazi insignia mate. There has always been Gold in almost every incarnation of the badge over the course of the clubs history. Gold was one of the clubs original colours also when the club was known as Newton Heath.

Hmm. Arsenal, Sunderland and, er, Wolves manage to get away with gold.

The powers that be also like Fred the Red, and GGMU at half time. Doesn’t mean I have to :D

Just me overthinking things probably. My dislike of yellow in a United context might have come about from the away shirts we got relegated in in 1974.

Horrendously over the top and gratuitous. One of the worst.

It's the god damn Devil holding a trident. Who cares about the boat and the canal? Satan is cool.

Before my time but understandable.

I like the Roma one the best, mythological stuff with she-wolf and Romulus and Remus and also their kits are awesome.

This is basically a wank in text form.

Ours was much better when it said "Manchester United Football Club" and not just "Manchester United".
