Bernardo Silva | Man City Player

He was great in France, started off well in England, strange he did not follow Eden Hazard's career path.

Not sure what happened, a lot going on behind the scenes for every player.

Nobody in Portugal would have forecast Bruno Fernandes and Bernardo Silva being where they are in terms of progress since 2014-15.

I mean, he was clocking outrageous distance covered stats alongside top quality technical ability in that 18/19 season...

I think he was very good at his best years, talented and would have been upgrade for our RW. He’s being wasted at city in my opinion, he joined the wrong club.

I wonder if that season when he was exceptional was just an outlier, and what we're seeing these days is his true baseline?

He was exceptional for Monaco as well. He should just be the main man for a slightly lesser side.

He was good for Monaco, certainly, but in that season he looked like one of the absolute best players in the world. Maybe you're right.

Absolutely fallen off a cliff in terms of his performance. Was performing as a top five player in the league two years ago.

What happen to him? His peak seems really last so short? I thought he is only 26, not 36.

Should have moved clubs last summer, no idea what he's still doing there. 0 goals and 0 assists so far this season is awful

12 games (8 starts) in PL+CL this season aaaand... ZERO GOALS, ZERO ASSISTS. Think it's time for both him and Mahrez to move (Seria A?).

Wow, what exactly has happened to him? I'd expected him to take over Dilva's role in their midfield at some point, but that seems extremely unlikely now.

On that note, it makes Dilva's City career even more impressive as he was able to deliver 10 solid seasons for them.

Am I missing something here?

You've got to play to find form and City keep picking players ahead of him and not using him.

He was poor last season and didn't improve since.

Yeah, Bernardo didn't step up. Mahrez didn't step up. Jesus didn't step up. Sterling didn't step up. Foden has one good game in 4 or 5.

Exactly? Why? Their skillsets are nothing alike.

He's being wasted by Pep, seemingly. I was worried when I saw him and Foden warming up against us, they were the type of players that I believe they needed on the pitch.
Torres is his latest experiment but he was the wrong player for the game against us, with us sat so deep and compact.

Damn. He must be playing really bad because the likes of Sterling and Mahrez are looking completely devoid of ideas and quality. Mahrez is so overrated, we dodged a bullet there.

Mahrez needs space I think. In congestion he looks clueless. How was he after that title winning season with Leicester?

In the Portuguese national team he is also much less influential these days, to me it looks like he is tired / not fully fit or something, the technique is all there of course.

So rumour on Twitter - after three years ago playing with PEDs under Pep, Bernardo Silva and Laporte got told if they carried on taking them they would be banned from national side. Bernardo stopped and his form tailed off. Laporte carried on taking them and fell out with his French teammates like Martial and Pogba who said the only way to win was to win fairly. Hence him being dropped from the national squad. Told Pep two weeks ago that he wanted to stop taking PEDs after he saw what Ole had managed to do at United fairly without cheating. Was seen by one member of the squad changing “Pep Guardiola” to “PED Guardiola” on some of the signs around the ground.

Would be interesting if true and makes a lot of sense.

He looked scary good in his first season but he's been average for a while now.

I wonder what it is about this club that makes players want to leave

It's a plea to get paid* the same amount as other bench players (Mahrez, Grealish, etc).

*Onshore or offshore, on the books, off the books, doesn't matter.

Pep basically telling everyone and anyone Silva is available.

Shame nobody seems to have any money!!

He was poor last season and seriously wank at the Euros. Did nothing in 4 games and if they had decided to sub/drop him earlier they would've progressed further.

It's no secret they want to sell because he's basically become Juan Mata, good touch and pass but slow and can't run past a man. I pity whoever ends up paying 50m for him.

Competition for places due to all the money they're able to spend?

And giving Foden playing time

The question is which teams that he'd be happy to join could afford him? Surely he'd cost £50-60 million or so and want to go to a team that can win something.

You are overthinking this a bit. It was a widely reported 'secret' that he wants out for months now, and people are such idiots as you are assuming right now, everyone recognizes the market and that there might simply be no funds for him elsewhere.

He's essentially another Mata at this point. Great technique but slow and weak, no longer an individual threat.

Perhaps he burnt himself out early, he used to run insane amounts in matches.

He was great last season. Not sure why the fact that he wants to leave the club makes him the new Mata as according to 2 posts now from today that is being the case. You don't become a shit player because you want out.
