This lad has the lungs of a Kenyan.
He'd have ended up as another Juan Mata here.
One that dribbles and makes openings on his own. Much better
One that dribbles and makes openings on his own. Much better
He would be wasted in a team like ours with no pattern of play.
He creates moments himself by running at players. He's also pretty good closing down so that would be a big bonus on our wide players too if he played from the right
Would he be exactly the same type of player without joining City? No idea. But the current one would do miles better than Mata did here
He frequently runs at players that have been isolated one on one due to City's intricate play. Occasionally he'll do a Messi and weave through traffic but City maximize the damage they do because they set him up well.
Here we would be wondering why he isn't half as effective after we give him the ball and expect him to do something while our other players remain stagnant. He would be an improvement on Mata sure, but not to a level where he's in the running for best player in the league.
If football had a most improved player award like the NBA does, he'd win it for this season.
He's twice the player now than he was at this time last season. Has geniunely been one of the best 10 players in the world this season.
For those who say that Guardiola doesn’t improve individual players just compare him today to when he arrived at City. Definitely starting to perform at the NT.
Bernardo Silva could never play in that Matuidi role as efficiently as he currently does for City or Portugal. This isn't true. Bernardo dominated City's midfield when his previous Monaco side played against City. In fact, I would say it was the reason Pep signed him.
The problem was with Portugal's coach for failing to utilise him adequately, for example in the world cup when he was deployed as a winger in a flat442 setup.
Bernardo is actually better through the middle. If he's to be deployed on the wing, he should either play as an inverted forward with the license to drift inside in a 433 setup and also, the midfield will have to support him or as a wide midfielder with the license to drift into the midfield like he did for Monaco.
While Monaco deployed a 422 setup, it often turned out into a 433 setup whenever they were in possession because Bernardo would drift inside to provide options for the likes of Fabinho and Bakayoko hence set the tempo from there. He actually made City's midfield look bang average against Monaco. He was the best player on the pitch in that game. He's David Silva doppelganger, that is, can play play as forward like Silva did for Spain or as a wide midfielder like Silva did for City under Pellegrini and through the middle under Pep. All these without a drop in quality. So painful that City got him.
If France had him as the equivalent to Matuidi on the wing in their 442 set-up, maybe they wouldn't have been found out so soon.![]()
I said improved him, not that he already wasn’t a very good player. This isn't true. Bernardo dominated City's midfield when his previous Monaco side played against City. In fact, I would say it was the reason Pep signed him.

It was exciting watching him play for Monaco when it felt like we were a sure thing to sign him. Could enjoy watching him take the piss out of City etc. These days i can't watch because he's absolutely fantastic for City and it's hard to stomachStill, I watched the Portugal games and he was damn good.
Unbelievable player and i still stand by what i said, I think he was the pick of that Monaco team ahead of Mbappe, Lemar, Fabinho etc.
world class players/passers right through the midfield... not just bernardo silva
Why is this in the Silva thread?
i knew a guy from india would post something like this. because there are no good highlights showing silva's passing skills. all of the videos are crap with crap music.
and because he plays for city. i usually don't reply to idiots, so this will be my last. it's a topic about a city player, you internet weirdo.
This is so random.i knew a guy from india would post something like this. because there are no good highlights showing silva's passing skills. all of the videos are crap with crap music.

You ask Thiago, Silva, Xavi and they all say same about Pep. he improves players
I really wish Pep could understood Sir Alex Scottish accent when he had a private dinner with SAF back in 2013. If he could he would have joined us for sure

Wow, this certainly is a top contender for idiotic post of the year award. Congratulations, 3 years posting moronic shit here and with a single post you beat everything bad I might have said here. You earned it.i knew a guy from india would post something like this. because there are no good highlights showing silva's passing skills. all of the videos are crap with crap music.

Gonna be in big trouble for that tweet and rightly so. I know it's banter between himself and mendy but completely in appropriate.
I agree I don't think there was any racial Mal intent and it was all fun between them both but the public will make it into something there Is not. This is group chat banter, you don't post it online to millions of followers. I'm sure Mendy took it well but it's inappropriate on Twitter IMO.
