Bernardo Silva | Man City Player

One that dribbles and makes openings on his own. Much better

Has the same build as Mata but that's where the similarity stops, he's a deceptively great dribbler and actually pretty physically strong.

He would be wasted in a team like ours with no pattern of play.

He creates moments himself by running at players. He's also pretty good closing down so that would be a big bonus on our wide players too if he played from the right

Would he be exactly the same type of player without joining City? No idea. But the current one would do miles better than Mata did here

MoM. He will be the reference in the future.

He frequently runs at players that have been isolated one on one due to City's intricate play. Occasionally he'll do a Messi and weave through traffic but City maximize the damage they do because they set him up well.

Here we would be wondering why he isn't half as effective after we give him the ball and expect him to do something while our other players remain stagnant. He would be an improvement on Mata sure, but not to a level where he's in the running for best player in the league.

I see him running at 1 or more players often down the right in moves that have had no tempo. He's just comfortable and confident to do it, but also a good passer to find someone else when he wants to stop

If football had a most improved player award like the NBA does, he'd win it for this season.

He's twice the player now than he was at this time last season. Has geniunely been one of the best 10 players in the world this season.

Phenomenal player, he's always been talented but he's still improved so much. I remember him tearing it apart in the Portugal U21 tournament.

Steal at 43M. Yet we're haggling 60m for Wan-Bissaka ffs.

It was exciting watching him play for Monaco when it felt like we were a sure thing to sign him. Could enjoy watching him take the piss out of City etc. These days i can't watch because he's absolutely fantastic for City and it's hard to stomach  Still, I watched the Portugal games and he was damn good.

Unbelievable player and i still stand by what i said, I think he was the pick of that Monaco team ahead of Mbappe, Lemar, Fabinho etc.

Silva provides an excellent reason why neutrals prefer to watch Man City games. Guardiola and his scouting team have done an excellent job in picking him and a few others for reasonable prices.

I remember there was a time that we were linked with Bernando Silva. We could have been competing for the league with a player like him. Also, Mane was available at that time. Unfortunately, Fred and Sanchez have been average.

Bernardo was already a very good player with potential at Monaco, but some people are acting as if he would have been the world beater he is now looking if he had come here, instead of City. Pep and his team have vastly improved the likes of Sterling, Sane, KDB, Silva along with Bernardo, so due credit should be given to them. Getting the right player to suit the system and having a coach who can guide and improve the players is the key to having a successful team. In such teams, even average players start looking like world beaters.

In contrast, look at our club's condition. Martial, Rashford, Pogba, Lindelof, Shaw have all looked like exciting prospects sometimes in their career here. But because of the managers and rudderless club structure, they have failed to make the next step. Most of the fans cannot understand what went wrong, and start blaming their attitudes and lack of 'pashun' and 'good old hardwork'.

We can get Bruno, De Ligt, Felix, Sancho whoever we want. But in this current turmoil, the results will turn the same, and they will be Branded as yet another overpriced, spoilt brat.

For those who say that Guardiola doesn’t improve individual players just compare him today to when he arrived at City. Definitely starting to perform at the NT.

This isn't true. Bernardo dominated City's midfield when his previous Monaco side played against City. In fact, I would say it was the reason Pep signed him.

The problem was with Portugal's coach for failing to utilise him adequately, for example in the world cup when he was deployed as a winger in a flat442 setup.

Bernardo is actually better through the middle. If he's to be deployed on the wing, he should either play as an inverted forward with the license to drift inside in a 433 setup and also, the midfield will have to support him or as a wide midfielder with the license to drift into the midfield like he did for Monaco.

While Monaco deployed a 422 setup, it often turned out into a 433 setup whenever they were in possession because Bernardo would drift inside to provide options for the likes of Fabinho and Bakayoko hence set the tempo from there. He actually made City's midfield look bang average against Monaco. He was the best player on the pitch in that game. He's David Silva doppelganger, that is, can play play as forward like Silva did for Spain or as a wide midfielder like Silva did for City under Pellegrini and through the middle under Pep. All these without a drop in quality. So painful that City got him.

If France had him as the equivalent to Matuidi on the wing in their 442 set-up, maybe they wouldn't have been found out so soon.

Bernardo Silva could never play in that Matuidi role as efficiently as he currently does for City or Portugal.
Some players are born on the opposite of their best foot.

I said improved him, not that he already wasn’t a very good player.

buzzing player around the field sweeping world class passes all over the patch and a general menace.

if you make a good run he's not gunna dk up the pass... this suits city as they play very attacking. city play attacking and stretch the pitch, etc, and so you need god passers

gündoğan, bruyne, bernardo....

they are all versatile world class passers

That's not exactly a hot take, he was seen as the best player for Monaco and arguably the best player in the league.

pep guardiola rates him highly, stating he will never leave so long as he is there. so he's his first pick.

i think pep guardiola is the reason why they are getting picked off by barca and madrid

world class players/passers right through the midfield... not just bernardo silva

then you have sane and sterling out wide who can't stop scoring.

Why is this in the Silva thread?

i knew a guy from india would post something like this. because there are no good highlights showing silva's passing skills. all of the videos are crap with crap music.

and because he plays for city. i usually don't reply to idiots, so this will be my last. it's a topic about a city player, you internet weirdo.

This is so random.

Won 5 titles in one season (for club and country), but is not a ballon d'or contender, ridiculous.

Firstly, top marks for the passive aggressive and somewhat racist note to start your response on.

Secondly, I imagine we're supposed to feel sorry for your harrowing experience dealing with poor compilations of Bernardo Silva... with crap music and no passing. Farksake.

Lastly (nearly), this will definitely be one of your last as with nonsensical posts like this, you're not lasting long here.

it's a topic about a city player, you internet weirdo.

And that City player isn't Kevin De Bruyne, you real life wierdo.

You ask Thiago, Silva, Xavi and they all say same about Pep. he improves players

I really wish Pep could understood Sir Alex Scottish accent when he had a private dinner with SAF back in 2013. If he could he would have joined us for sure

I'd like to believe that too. But Pep's David Gill had already moved from Barca to City in 2012. Pep wasn't going to come to City's rival after that

Adds nothing to the discussion

When you see people thinking that if we got him, he would be same/similar to Silva from City.

Wow, this certainly is a top contender for idiotic post of the year award. Congratulations, 3 years posting moronic shit here and with a single post you beat everything bad I might have said here. You earned it.

Gonna be in big trouble for that tweet and rightly so. I know it's banter between himself and mendy but completely in appropriate.

This is group chat banter, you don't post it online to millions of followers. I'm sure Mendy took it well but it's inappropriate on Twitter IMO.

I agree I don't think there was any racial Mal intent and it was all fun between them both but the public will make it into something there Is not.
