Either fergie isn't talking to Berbatov (which is quite possible, the reports of Berbatov being at Carrington are "unconfirmed") or Spurs has accepted a bid from us, as well as City.
If the latter is true, I'm guessing our bid was considerably lower than City's but that doesn't matter, so long as we agree personal terms.

I'm just laughing at the absurdity of the whole thing. We've all pretty much agreed that Berbatov is not worth 30m+. So if other clubs are crazy enough to offer that (City because they want to feel big, Madrid because they need to sign someone, anyone, after losing Robinho) and the player is interested then we should just hold our hands up and walk away.
There's no way on this earth that Berbatov is worth 30m+. The only question that United need to ask is if there were other targets we could have gone for. But really the only other player out there that is 100% United quality is Benzema. And if Berbatov is seen as being worth 30m+ then Benzema would cost twice that.

Letting Saha go was probably the biggest spoiler of all. There's no way Fergie would be content with just Manucho and Campbell as his backup strikers. At least with Saha last season there was still a hope that he could get fit and play half a dozen games.
