Would that include the Carabao game against us?
Yeah. He misses games against City, Chelsea, United and Liverpool.Would that include the Carabao game against us?
Is he banned for the Brazil game?
we’ll have to wait and see, his agent said “we will be appealing, we feel 7 games is velly harsh.”7 game ban confirmed.
No it's just domestic, he can play for Uruguay and in Spurs' Europa League games
It's due to a weird technicality in regards to being released/not released by your club. That's incredible, he said this in Uruguay to a Uruguay TV station.
Enzo is still being investigated by FIFA as it’s in their jurisdictionThis sets a new low in FA rules.
Enzo - Directly and energically insulting and denigrating his Club teammates on live social media. No sanction.
Betancur - Indireclty joking on a friend's appearance. 6 match ban.
God bless western civilization political correctness!
It's explained here: https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/c86q570vw6xo. Enzo Fernandez was on international duty during his incident, so the FA isn't allowed to do anything about that. Betancur is receiving a harsher penalty because, even though he first apologized, he then made some sarcastic comebacks. This sets a new low in FA rules.

So this is what we're continuing to call casual and blatant racism? Unbelievable. This sets a new low in FA rules.

How could we tell? What if it wasn't Bentancur but his cousin?
Oh give it a rest pal.So this is what we're continuing to call casual and blatant racism? Unbelievable.
God bless Western privilege of denigrating people from different ethnic backgrounds and saying they're all the same!
Oh give it a rest pal.
Do you not have the mental capacity to distinguish a joke from outright racism? Seriously? How do you live your life? Are you literally triggered by every, tiny joke that has any kind of racial slur in it?
Even Son said he wasn't offended by it and please don't tell me you've never, ever thought that Asian people look very similar, because they do. I had a friend who worked for the DVLA and he said that driving offences were 'higher' among Asians, simply because a lot hadn't passed their driving tests, but were using their brothers or cousins driving licences because it was harder for the Police to tell them apart. That's actually a fact, whether it triggers you or not.
There's a huge difference between someone coming out and saying they hate Koreans because 'they all look the same' and light heartedly joking with a pal about his team mate Son, over his appearance.
If I had a pound for every person who's made fun of my appearance being Scottish, I'd be a millionaire.
Relax, or you'll die of stress before you know it. Your quest to sterilise life completely isn't possible.
Well done mate, you called me out. I'm high strung all the time and my pea-sized inferior brain can't tell that a joke based on someone's racial characteristics wouldn't be a joke at all if it weren't for pre-exisiting racial stereotypes and bias. Remember to criticise my post and what I've written, not me.Oh give it a rest pal.

Seems like the FA is trying to send a message, but I agree that with the mitigating factors of Son's apology (which could also be influenced by PR damage control) that 7 games seems excessive - I would think 3 or 4 would be more apt if the FA did want to still enforce a ban (to make it either the same as a straight red card, or just above).7 games is significant. Any reason why this is so much longer than previous incidents?
It's not:I think it is party a business decision. The EPL is very popular in Asia and is a significant revenue stream and audience. Betancur doesn't seem like the most sophisticated person and he probably meant it as friendly joke. But from a business standpoint, the EPL can't look like they are brushing aside racism against Asians, especially as dumb racist comments are becoming something of a standard for players on the Argentina national team.
Betancur is also from Uruguay, so not sure what Argentina has to do with it.It's explained here: https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/c86q570vw6xo. Argentina, Uruguay, all the same innit. It's not:

This part just seems ridiculous to meIt's explained here: https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/c86q570vw6xo. Enzo Fernandez was on international duty during his incident, so the FA isn't allowed to do anything about that.
Enzo will probably receive something similar, if not more
I have to admit I don't know myself what the rules say exactly, but that's how it's being reported. It appears true given who's actioning what, but I agree that it's rather nonesensical. This part just seems ridiculous to me
The Bentancur incident happened while he was with the squad 6 days before the start of the Copa America but that doesn't count as being on international duty? I mean if we're really being pedantic, technically the Copa was over when Enzo did his thing. Silly.

Ha. That certainly seems to be the moral of the story. So do we know what's happened in the Enzo Fernandez situation? Has it actually been officially binned or are we just assuming so given the length of time? I remember an official complaint was lodged to FIFA in July. How long does it take to bring someone to task?I think it’s a funny one. Especially if Fifa just bins it, which would make a bit of a mockery out of everything.
If you’re going to say/do something racist, make sure you do it while you’re away on international duty
It'l was half a bus load of players signing that song. It's gonna take a while to sort out their punishment. How long does it take to bring someone to task?
