Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner believes he will be better than Sweden star Zlatan Ibrahimovic within three years.

The 21-year-old Denmark international is still yet to establish himself as a regular starter at Arsenal, but he is convinced that he will have a breakthrough year next season.

And, ahead of his country’s World Cup qualifier against Sweden on Saturday, he has revealed that he plans to outshine the Inter striker in the coming years.

“In about three years, I will be better than Zlatan,” he told BT.

“He is older than me and has now reached his peak as the top scorer in Serie A, but I have a plan, I believe in it and I am ready.

“Next season, I can finally make my breakthrough and then I still have two years to become better than Zlatan – and I will.

“By then I will be close to my peak and will be able to look upon myself as one of the world’s greatest strikers.”

:lol::lol::lol:

Actually Zlatan himself has been pretty prone to making bold claims.

once when asked what could stop him becoming the best player in the world he gave this one word answer. "injury".

Yes but Zlatan also scores the odd wonder goal that makes you sit up and notice. Bendtner wore pink boots that made me stand up and leave the room.

If Ibrahimovic loses his legs in that time, or dies, then Bendtner will be better.

Actually no, no he wouldn't.

Eh? Zlatan is as good as any striker around right now.

Until it really counts for something.

Then he does his very own Nicolas Bendtner impersonation.

What Jason said.

In terms of talent, yes. In terms of overall ability(and I include the mental side of his game, attitude etc) he's nowhere near.

What's he ever done outside a declining league like Italy?

Am I remembering it wrong, or has he not scored in the knockout stages of the CL?

So is this the Summer that Bendtner finally learns to trap the ball? Good on him.

yeah and neither had messi until this year, he'd also never scored agaisnt english opposition.

He's been unlucky, he should have scored against United. He needs to move to the prem, if only to show naive EPL super fans why he's so highly rated.

He needs to move to show everyone. It's blind faith at the moment, because he's given nobody any reason to think he doesn't belong in the 'good but not quite special' category of strikers.

And I have no idea what that silly 'naive EPL super fans' comment is about. From my own point of view some of my favourite players(outside of United) play in Spain. It's just Ibrahimovich I don't rate as highly as some. Because he's given me no reason to. If he did, perhaps then we could all be enlightened as you?

If Eduardo had lost his foot he'd still have more potential than Bendtner.

No other striker has as much ability as Ibrahimovic, its just that he won't be recognized until he performs against an English team or in the CL fullstop.

Just need to watch some italian football. But you wont, you probably think it's boring and defensive based on stereotypes.

He's outshone Kaka domestically for years yet Kaka remains amoungst everyones elite list of players in the UK based on champions league where AC do a Liverpool and fail to challenge for the league and have a nice fresh side for the CL.

If ibrahimovic played in england everyone who calls him useless or overrated would change their opinion and all be wondering why the hell it wasn't their team that purchased him.

If he does the biz in spain then it'll be because spain is a weak league in comparison to the EPL.

So that leaves europe and he'd need to leave Inter to have a chance of that unless they actually spend big on genuine quality this summer.

Everyone laughed a few seasons ago when Drogba claimed he was going to be as good as Henry. For a while he was just as important for his club as Henry was. I think Adebayor made a similar claim and the season before last he was very, very important to Arsenal too.

Its possible, but unlikely that Bendtner could have a good season and be considered one of the best strikers for that season. But its something else to do that consistantly year after year - which perhaps Adebayor and even Drogba, didnt manage with regard to their claims.

Yeah and these silly stats about players are bogus.

Messi hadnt scored in the later stages until this season. He also hadnt scored against english opposition. He had score a couple of goals to be recognized as a great player? i dont agree with it.

Hang about. Who said I don't watch Italian football? Stop your nonsense. If I'm wrong about him, so be it. But don't resort to that silly sniping, based on no evidence at all.

My opinion on him(based on watching him quite a bit) is he has a lot to prove outside of Italy. Maybe he would, maybe he wouldn't, given a chance. Right now, to me, he looks a flat track bully.

I do think he is a promising player, 14 goals in a season for a young player developing suggests that, but his incredible arrogance turns you off him. Drogba and Adebayor were different though, they were brought in to their respective clubs to be the main striker and had all the time in the World. Bendtner must somehow get in front of Adebayor, Van Persie, Arshavin and Eduardo in able to prove himself.

Fair enough, then i struggle to see how you dont rate him up there with the current best in the world. Considering Inter wouldnt have won the league without him in any season.

Also his performances have been very impressive in the champions league in the last couple of years, it is inter that are not good enough to get far in the CL and that is despite Zlatan being good.

I can almost understand why Adebayor(sp?) wanted to smack him.

He's just playing the game ahead of Saturday's international. His performances on the pitch don't speak of any particular arrogance.

Good post.

Hi goal-scoring record in the champion's league is wank and always has been. Seems odd that a striker can be "very impressive" without, you know, scoring goals?

They never managed to be as good as Henry though, I think it's a stupid thing to go public with these bold statement.

How old is Messi? Exactly. And despite his age he's done 5 times as much as Ibrahimovic has done in Europe. As have tons of other players.

As for Bendtner, has there ever been another player whose been playing so poorly and yet claiming to be so good? It's baffling.
