Bender Has Decided to Leave Arsenal

Nicklas Bendtner has made a decision on his future and is set to leave Arsenal in the summer, according to his father and agent.

The Danish striker has never hidden his frustration at a lack of regular starting opportunities this season, having found himself down the pecking order.

But he has always stated he will keep pushing for a place in Arsene Wenger's team and will not make his mind up about what to do next until the summer.

That moment has now arrived after the Gunners ended their Premier League campaign in fourth following a 2-2 draw with Fulham on Sunday.

And Thomas Bendtner claims his son has now informed Arsenal that he would like the club to listen to offers.

"Nicklas is 100 per cent open now to a change of clubs," Thomas Bendtner said in the Daily Mirror.

"He has made his decision and he has told it to Arsenal. Nicklas needs to be playing from the start so, sadly, he must leave.

"He wanted to finish the season first, so no-one could say he didn't fight for a first-team place right until the end."

Bendtner's father insists there will be a number of options to consider but has dismissed speculation linking the 23-year-old with a move to Aston Villa.

He said: "There is real interest from both English and German clubs, and Bayern Munich were after him, earlier. It's very exciting.

"But talk about Aston Villa is rubbish. He has not met anyone from there."

Arse fans are surely crushed.

Actually believe he'd look much better than he has whenever coming on for Arsenal, if he's given enough playing time.

His goals against Portugal

Has a very high opinion of himself for a very average player. Arsenal are falling apart, first Denilson and now Bendtner.

He doesn't suit their play, will do better at a new club. Someone like Everton or Fulham could do with him.

I think he could turn out to be a better player than Chamakh.

Could never work out why Wenger signed the shit-haired, easily tired weirdo.

He thought he was getting a cut price Ronaldo....only thing he got was a look a like, and a poor one at that

I'm sure they'll be no shortage of takers for one of the games great talents....but not many that could afford him.

Do I really need the white text?

He said recently he would like to play for Barcelona. They should be so lucky.

He'll do ok played in his proper position. Not a world beater but better than Wenger implied by sticking him on the wing for a few minutes a game.

I've always said what's the point of Wenger's heavy youth policy if most of them don't turn out how he likes and they then leave.

There's huge question marks over Denilson,Diaby,Walcott etc

It's about having the right balance.

I'd be surprised if he didn't, really. Can't understand why he's been played out wide so much, even if he's not an out an out striker (I thought he's looked exactly that for Denmark, personally) he's clearly not a wide player. He needed the move.

You don't think Chamakh's offered a slightly better, more immediate option though? I think he offers a lot of what Bendtner does, just with a bit more consistency (and a lot less attitude). His tiredness is bizarre but he's still played 45 games this season and given them a more suited option to playing up top on his own.

I think Bendtner would be pretty decent if he was given a good run in the team. He was very good for Arsenal last season and scored loads of late winners as well

Not really though.

God knows how I read '7' as '11'. Seriously.

I was only looking through the top secorers in the league the other day and was surprised that he only had 7, seemed to be banging them in at the start of the season but then went a-tad-bit off the rails.

Not scored in the league since September and scored just one goal in his last 23 appearances (10 starts). Ouch. I knew he wasn't prolific but was fully expecting a good 15 goals overall, he looked on course for that by Christmas and just fell apart. Actually, Pogue may have a point.

And to think Raees talked of him as a Macheda-type player hehe. One of the many examples of how deceiving youtube is!

I wonder what happened to him, he looked a talent during the first few weeks of the season but faded out in drastic fashion and never seemed to recover.

He's a useless twat who thinks he's awesome. I'd like to hear a convo between him and Balotelli about who's the best player.

Stoke like big strikers. Maybe they'll buy him.

I thought this was funny.

Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner has proved his extreme self-confidence far greater than that of your average egoist by getting a score off the scale in a self-confidence test.

The 23-year-old has made several comments in the media over the years highlighting his belief in himself and many have suggested that his confidence borders on arrogance.

He claimed earlier this season that, when fully fit, he should always be in the Arsenal starting line-up, and famously told all and sundry that he was going to win the Golden Boot at last year's World Cup.

Recently, Arsenal use psychological tests to determine their players' mental abilities in relation to their footballing qualities and Bendtner is certainly not lacking in one area.

Psychologist Jacques Crevoisier, interviewed by Swedish magazine Offside, said: "One of the categories is called 'self perceived competence,' i.e. how good the player himself thinks he is. On a scale up to 9, Bendtner got 10!

"We have never seen that before. (Assistant manager) Pat Rice was sitting next to me and couldn't stop laughing.

"When Bendtner misses a chance, he is always genuinely convinced that it wasn't his fault. You might say that's a problem, and to a certain degree it can be.

"But you can also view it as this guy has an remarkably ability to come back after setbacks."

The test is made-up of 117 questions designed to test players' self-belief, concentration levels and determination and is overseen by Crevoisier, who specialises in working with young French players at France's Clairefontaine academy.

Play till the end of your contract, you cnut.

He's young and needs game time. Surprising Wenger has never sent him out on loan.

I'm sure its the best move for both parties. He needs to work on his (over) confidence though

Might finally force Wenger to accept a lot of the supposed golden generation are nothing more than average premier league players.

Could be the wake up call he needs. If they replace Denilson and Bendtner with a decent defensive midfield player and a decent forward they'll be a lot closer to winning a trophy.

That is a massive 'if' - Wenger doesn't have an all too great record in replacing players with better ones.

Indeed - other than Henry for Anelka which turned out alright, but some people on here seem to think Arsenal are miles away from being Champions.

A couple of decent buys and they'll be right up there. The Litmus test will be how much cash he has to spend, and whether he'll take the plunge.

He went out on loan 4 years ago to the championship with Birmingham City. Played around 50 matches for them, and did pretty well

I actually thought the things he'd supposedly said had been twisted by the press; so I was amazed to read his quote in the article linked above...what a twit:

The Gunners star said: 'In about three years, I will be better than Zlatan. He is older than me and has now reached his peak as the top scorer in Serie A - but I have a plan, I believe in it and I am ready.

'Next season, I can finally make my breakthrough and then I still have two years to become better than Zlatan – and I will.

'By then I will be close to my peak and will be able to look upon myself as one of the world’s greatest strikers.'
